To capture the screen you can currently see on an Android phone, open the page and press Power and Volume down at the same time. For a page that continues below the screen, use Capture more on Android 12 or later, or use Chrome’s More > Share… > Long screenshot command. “Homepage” can mean the website open in your browser, Chrome’s Home destination, or the Android launcher, so identify which one you mean before capturing.
First, decide which “homepage” you want
People use “homepage” for three different Android screens:

Chrome distinguishes its homepage from its startup page: the homepage is the destination opened when you select Home, while the startup page appears when Chrome launches. Changing either setting is not required to capture a webpage.
Capture the screen that is visible
- Open the target screen. Navigate to the website, Chrome page, app or launcher Home screen you want to save.
- Press Power and Volume down together. Press both buttons at the same time and release them promptly.
- Use the preview. Tap the thumbnail or controls that appear to crop, edit or share the image.
- Find the saved file. In Google Photos, open Collections > On this device > Screenshots. Phones without Photos may use the manufacturer’s Gallery app and a Screenshots album.
This captures only what is on the display at that moment. Browser controls, the address bar and any content below the fold are included if they are visible.

If the buttons do nothing
On some phones, press and hold Power for a few seconds and tap Screenshot if that command appears. Button behavior is manufacturer-specific. If neither method is available, follow your phone maker’s support instructions; Android Help directs users to the manufacturer when the standard controls differ.
Take a scrolling screenshot with Android
Android’s built-in scrolling capture extends a screenshot beyond the current viewport. Google documents this flow for devices running Android 12 and later, on most screens that allow you to scroll. It is not guaranteed for every phone, app, browser or webpage.
- Open the scrollable page or screen.
- Press Power and Volume down together.
- Tap Capture more in the screenshot controls.
- Drag the crop guides until they cover the amount of content you need.
- Save or share the resulting image from the preview.
The crop handles let you stop before unrelated content, such as a page footer or recommendations. If Capture more is missing, the current screen may not support Android’s system scrolling capture, the phone may be running an older Android version, or the manufacturer may expose a different control.
Capture a full webpage in Chrome on Android
For a webpage open in Chrome, Chrome provides a separate long-screenshot command. This is often the clearest route when Android’s system screenshot does not offer Capture more.

- Open the webpage in Chrome for Android.
- Tap More (the three-dot menu) next to the address bar.
- Choose Share…, then select Long screenshot.
- Drag the crop handles to set the beginning and end of the page image.
- Tap Confirm, then save the image or share it with another app.
Chrome’s menu labels and availability can vary by Chrome build and device. The command applies to the page open in Chrome; it is not a setting for Chrome’s homepage or startup page.
How Chrome’s homepage setting relates to screenshots
If you want to capture the page opened by Chrome’s Home control, first check which page that control uses:
- Open Chrome and tap More.
- Tap Settings, then Advanced, then Homepage.
- Choose Chrome’s default homepage or enter a custom page.
- Return to the browser, tap Home, and use either the normal or long-screenshot method.
This changes what Chrome opens when you select Home. It does not take a screenshot and does not change the page Chrome displays at launch unless your startup setting also points there.
Capturing the Android launcher Home screen
The Android Home screen is the launcher shown when no app is open. To capture it, go to the launcher and press Power + Volume down, or use the Power-menu Screenshot command when your phone provides one.

If your real goal is to put a website on that launcher, Chrome’s Add to Home screen feature creates a website shortcut. A shortcut is an icon that opens the site; it is not a screenshot of the site.
Choose the right method

Troubleshooting
The Power and Volume down shortcut is not registering
- Press both buttons simultaneously rather than holding one first.
- Try holding Power and choosing Screenshot from the menu.
- Check the phone manufacturer’s support instructions for its model-specific shortcut.
There is no Capture more button
Check the Android version and whether the screen actually scrolls. Google’s documented boundary is Android 12 or newer on most scrollable screens, not every app or site. When the target is a Chrome webpage, try Chrome’s More > Share… > Long screenshot route instead.
The long image stops early or contains unwanted content
Use the crop handles before confirming. Scrollable capture follows the screen’s supported content; it cannot promise a complete image of a page that loads content only after a special interaction or that the app does not expose as one scrollable surface.
The screenshot is not where expected
Look in Google Photos under Collections > On this device > Screenshots. If Photos is not installed, check the phone maker’s Gallery app and its Screenshots album.

Chrome’s Long screenshot option is absent
Confirm that the page is open in Chrome for Android and open the three-dot More menu, then Share…. Availability can differ between Chrome builds and devices. If the page supports system scrolling capture, the Android Capture more flow is the other documented option.

Check the image before sharing
Review the preview for addresses, account names, notifications, one-time codes and other information that happened to be visible. Crop those areas before sending the screenshot. A scrolling image can include more page content than you saw at once, so inspect the entire result.
Expect device and page variation
The published Android instructions are not a guarantee for every manufacturer interface, browser version or website. A page may use its own scrolling container, load content dynamically or block a particular capture path. When one method fails, switch between Android’s system flow and Chrome’s webpage flow rather than repeatedly pressing the same buttons.
When an automated capture is more practical
If you need repeatable screenshots for many URLs, a documentation pipeline or an AI workflow, taking them manually on a phone is slow and difficult to standardize. An API can render a page at a chosen viewport and return an image or PDF without keeping a handset available.
