To take a screenshot on TradingView, open the chart, select the camera icon in the chart’s upper-right area, and choose Save image. The same menu can copy the image, create a shareable chart-image link, or open sharing to X. On Windows and Linux, press Alt+S; on macOS, press Option+S.
This guide covers the documented web/desktop workflow, trade overlays, clipboard and link sharing, printing, troubleshooting, and an automated alternative when you need repeatable captures.
Take a TradingView screenshot from the chart
- Open TradingView in a desktop browser and load the chart you want to capture.
- Set the symbol, timeframe, indicators, drawings, and visible date range before opening the snapshot menu. The image reflects what is visible in the chart at capture time.
- Click the camera icon at the top of the chart, in the upper-right area.
- Choose the output that matches your goal: Save image, Copy image, Copy link, or the X sharing option.
The camera menu is TradingView’s built-in chart snapshot control. It captures the chart view rather than the browser tabs, address bar, desktop, or other operating-system windows.
Save TradingView chart as an image
Select Save image to download the snapshot to your computer. Use this when you need a file for a report, ticket, presentation, archive, or upload. Give the file a descriptive name after downloading if you are keeping multiple symbols or timeframes; the downloaded image itself contains the visual chart state, not a separate editable TradingView project.

Copy TradingView chart to clipboard
Select Copy image to place the chart image on the clipboard. Switch to your email, chat, document, or image editor and paste it. This is faster than downloading and re-uploading when the recipient only needs the visual chart.
Copy a TradingView chart link
Select Copy link to create a hosted chart-image URL. Paste that URL into a message or document instead of attaching a file. TradingView says a shared snapshot does not expire, although access to the surrounding chart or account can still depend on the recipient’s normal TradingView access.
Share directly to X
Choose the X option in the snapshot menu when you want to send the chart to X directly. Review the selected symbol, timeframe, and annotations before posting because the shared image uses the current chart state.
TradingView screenshot shortcut
TradingView documents these keyboard shortcuts for the snapshot command:
Recommended Free Tools
| Platform | Shortcut | Documented result |
|---|---|---|
| Windows or Linux | Alt+S | Take a snapshot and save its URL to the clipboard |
| macOS | Option+S | Take a snapshot and save its URL to the clipboard |
The shortcut is useful when the chart has focus and you want a link quickly. If your browser or operating system intercepts the key combination, use the camera icon instead. A laptop’s function-key layer, keyboard remapping utility, or browser extension can also change how a shortcut behaves.

Show orders, executions, and positions
TradingView provides a dedicated setting named Orders, executions and positions in screenshots. Enable it before taking the snapshot when those trade overlays must appear.
- Open the chart’s settings or snapshot-related controls.
- Turn on Orders, executions and positions in screenshots.
- Return to the chart and verify that the expected order, execution, or position markers are visible.
- Use the camera icon or shortcut to capture the image.
This setting applies to TradingView chart snapshots. It does not add trade overlays to an ordinary operating-system screenshot or to a browser printout. If a marker is missing, first confirm that the setting is enabled and that the relevant order, execution, or position is actually visible in the current chart range.
Print a TradingView chart
For a paper copy or a PDF produced by the browser, TradingView recommends printing the snapshot image rather than printing the live chart interface.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Take a snapshot with the camera icon.
- Choose Open image in new tab from the snapshot options.
- In the new tab, open the browser’s print command: Ctrl+P on Windows/Linux or Command+P on macOS.
- Select a physical printer or your browser’s PDF destination, then check orientation, scale, margins, and the preview before confirming.
Printing the opened image keeps the output focused on the chart. Remember that the trade-overlay setting described above is for chart snapshots, not ordinary browser printing.
Prepare the chart before capturing
A screenshot is a record of the current visual state, so preparation prevents most “wrong chart” mistakes.

Built-in snapshot versus an operating-system screenshot
TradingView’s camera command is preferable when you need a clean chart image, a clipboard copy, or a hosted snapshot link. An operating-system tool such as a desktop snip captures whatever is on screen, including browser chrome and unrelated windows, and it does not apply TradingView’s trade-overlay screenshot setting. Use an operating-system capture only when you intentionally need interface context outside the chart.
Mobile availability
The documented instructions for this guide cover TradingView’s web/desktop chart workflow. A current, official iOS or Android step sequence is not established here, so mobile controls may differ by app version and should not be assumed to match the desktop camera menu or shortcuts.

If you need a screenshot of a publicly reachable TradingView page in a script or a pipeline, ScreenshotNeo can return an image or PDF from one HTTP request. The API also supports full-page capture, lazy-image loading, element capture by CSS selector, custom viewport and device presets, dark mode, retina scale, waits for a selector, delay or network idle, custom JavaScript and CSS, hidden selectors, request blocking, cookies, headers, user agents, timezone and geolocation, resizing, caching with a chosen TTL, signed links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, and a usage API. Use credentials and URLs you are authorized to access.
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameter details. These complete examples target a TradingView chart page; replace the URL with the exact public chart URL you need.

ScreenshotNeo removes cookie-consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot; each of those cleanup steps can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and every response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Its MCP server exposes take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools to Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots; all features are available on every plan, and yearly billing gives two months free.

The camera icon is not visible
Make sure you are looking at the chart toolbar rather than a watchlist or another TradingView panel. Widen the browser window, close obstructing panels, and reload the chart. If the control remains unavailable, use the documented desktop workflow in a supported, current browser and check whether an extension is hiding toolbar elements.
Alt+S or Option+S does nothing
Click the chart once and try again. If the browser, operating system, keyboard layout, or a utility has claimed the shortcut, use the camera icon. The shortcut is documented for Windows/Linux and macOS; it is not a mobile instruction.
The downloaded image has the wrong range or indicator set
Snapshots use the chart state at the moment of capture. Return to the chart, select the correct symbol and interval, adjust zoom and pan, and verify indicators and drawings before taking another snapshot.
Orders or positions are missing
Enable Orders, executions and positions in screenshots, then confirm that the markers fall inside the visible range. That setting affects TradingView snapshots, not operating-system screenshots or browser printing.

Copy image will not paste
Use Save image and attach the downloaded file instead. Clipboard permissions, remote-desktop sessions, and destination applications can prevent image paste even when the snapshot itself succeeded.
A copied link is not what you expected
The shortcut is documented as saving a snapshot URL to the clipboard. If you need the actual image file, choose Save image; if you need a URL, use Copy link from the camera menu and paste it into a plain-text field to inspect what was copied.
Printing includes the interface
Do not print the live chart tab. Open the snapshot image in a new tab first, then use Ctrl+P or Command+P. Check the print preview for scaling and orientation.

An automated capture is blank or fails
Verify that the target URL is reachable without an interactive login and that your request includes a valid ScreenshotNeo access key. Use the response’s X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers to distinguish a clean result from a bot check, blank page, timeout, failed load, or cache hit. For dynamic pages, use an appropriate wait condition from the API options and allow enough client timeout for the page to render.
Choosing the right output
| Need | Best choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Attach a chart to a report | Save image | Creates a local image file. |
| Paste into a message or document | Copy image | Places the chart directly on the clipboard. |
| Send a hosted reference | Copy link | Creates a shareable chart-image URL. |
| Make a paper copy or browser PDF | Open image in new tab, then print | Prints the snapshot rather than the live interface. |
| Automate repeated captures | ScreenshotNeo API or MCP | Runs from scripts or AI-agent workflows and reports billing verdicts. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I automate more than one TradingView URL at a time?
ScreenshotNeo supports bulk capture for up to 100 URLs per call. Refer to its API documentation for the bulk-request format and use only pages you are authorized to capture.
How can an AI agent take a TradingView screenshot?
Connect an MCP client such as Claude or Cursor to ScreenshotNeo and use its take_screenshot tool; get_page_info and capture_pdf are also available.
Which image formats can ScreenshotNeo return?
ScreenshotNeo can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or a PDF. The examples above save the response as WebP.
The Bottom Line
For a one-off chart, use TradingView’s camera icon: choose Save image, Copy image, or Copy link, and enable Orders, executions and positions in screenshots when trade overlays are required. Use Alt+S on Windows/Linux or Option+S on macOS, and print by opening the snapshot image in a new tab first.
