On iPhone 13, press and quickly release the Side button and Volume Up button together to take a screenshot. If Full Page is missing from the screenshot preview, there is no Apple-documented switch that makes it appear for every app. For a Safari webpage, save a PDF; for app content that must be an image, take overlapping screenshots and stitch them together; or record the scrolling as a video.

Take a screenshot and check for Full Page

  1. Open the webpage or app screen and position it at the point where you want the capture to begin.
  2. Press the iPhone 13’s Side button and Volume Up button at the same time, then quickly release both.
  3. Tap the screenshot preview to open its editing and saving options.
  4. If Full Page is available, select it, review the longer capture, and save it in the offered format. Apple describes this option for supported content extending beyond the screen, using an entire Safari webpage as its example. The result can be saved as an image or PDF. Apple’s screenshot instructions explain the documented workflow.

If Full Page is not shown, the iPhone has not necessarily lost a capability. Apple’s instructions describe it for supported content; they do not promise that every third-party app, feed, chat, or screen will offer the option. Use the workaround that matches the output you need.

Choose a workaround based on what you need to keep

Need Best fit What you get
A readable, shareable copy of a Safari webpage Save the webpage as a PDF A document rather than a long screenshot image
A still image of content inside an app Take overlapping screenshots and stitch them A single image assembled from separate captures
To show movement or the act of scrolling Use Screen Recording A video of screen activity, if the app permits recording

Save a Safari webpage as a PDF

When the Full Page control is absent but the content is a webpage open in Safari, a PDF is the built-in alternative Apple documents. It preserves the page as a document rather than producing a single tall screenshot image.

  1. Open the webpage in Safari.
  2. Tap Share.
  3. Choose Markup.
  4. Tap Save File To, then choose where to save the PDF.

Apple’s guide gives this Safari sequence: Annotate and save a webpage as a PDF in Safari on iPhone. This path is for a webpage in Safari; it is not a general way to export the contents of another app as a PDF.

Make one long image from app content

If you specifically need an image—not a PDF—and the app does not provide Full Page, the practical manual option is to capture sections and combine them in an image editor or stitching app. This is a workaround, not an iPhone feature that Apple guarantees will work automatically in every app.

  1. Take the first screenshot with the Side button and Volume Up.
  2. Scroll down far enough to reveal new content, but leave a visible strip from the previous capture on screen. That overlap gives you a reference for lining the images up.
  3. Take the next screenshot. Repeat the scroll-and-capture steps until you reach the end.
  4. Open the images in an editor or stitching app that can join screenshots. Align each repeated strip, then crop away duplicated content at the joins.
  5. Inspect the finished image at normal viewing size. Check that text, borders, and other details line up before sharing or deleting the original captures.

Overlap is important: if each screenshot begins exactly where the last one ended, small differences in scroll distance can leave gaps. Too much overlap is also manageable, but it means more repeated material to crop. Very long results can be awkward to view or share as one image, so keep the original screenshots until you have confirmed the combined version is complete.

When stitching is a poor fit

  • The content changes as you scroll: a live feed, animation, or updated message list may not show the same material in adjacent captures. A stitched image can preserve a moment imperfectly rather than create a seamless record.
  • The app changes its layout: expanding controls, sticky headers, or loading new content may make the edges harder to align. Use a visible repeated landmark and review every join.
  • You need searchable or document-style output: use the Safari PDF workflow when the source is a Safari webpage and a document is suitable.
  • You need to show the sequence of actions: a screen recording is more appropriate than a composite still image.

Record scrolling as a video

When a moving record is acceptable, use Screen Recording from Control Center, scroll through the content, then stop the recording. Find the resulting video in Photos. This captures screen activity as video rather than making a long still screenshot. Apple notes that some apps may not allow their content to be recorded. See Apple’s iPhone screen-recording instructions for the documented steps.

If a recording does not show the content you expected, the app may restrict recording. In that case, try the still-image method if you need images and the app allows screenshots, or use a document export supplied by the app if one is available. Screen Recording is not a way to force Full Page to appear.

Why Full Page may not appear

The key distinction is support for the content being captured, not a universal iPhone setting. Apple’s documented example is an entire webpage in Safari. Its instructions do not establish that the same option is available on every app screen. If you do not see Full Page in the screenshot preview, try the Safari PDF route for a Safari webpage, stitching for a long app image, or video recording when motion is useful.

There is no Apple-documented universal toggle to enable Full Page across unsupported apps. Nor does the absence of the option, by itself, show that an iPhone 13 lacks scrolling-capture hardware. Avoid spending time looking for a setting that Apple does not document as a global fix.

Or skip the browser setup

If the content you need is a public webpage and you want a server-side screenshot rather than a capture from the iPhone screen, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API. It is not a way to capture an iPhone app or to enable Full Page on the phone. One GET request can return a webpage screenshot or PDF. For a public webpage, this cURL request saves a WebP capture:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key and replace the target URL with the webpage you want to capture. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options and response details.

  • It accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each of those steps can be turned off.
  • Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed. Responses identify the page verdict and billing status in X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.
  • An MCP server offers take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
  • The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots; every feature is on every plan.

Troubleshooting

The screenshot gesture does not work

Press the Side button and Volume Up together and release them quickly. Apple documents that button combination for iPhone screenshots. If you hold the buttons instead of quickly pressing and releasing, you may not get the screenshot preview workflow you expect. Review Apple’s screenshot steps if the gesture remains unclear.

The preview appears, but Full Page is missing

That option is documented for supported content, with a Safari webpage as Apple’s example; it is not promised for every app. For a Safari webpage, use Share → Markup → Save File To to save a PDF. For app content that needs to remain an image, capture overlapping frames and combine them.

The stitched image has gaps or doubled text

Use more overlap when taking the original screenshots so you can match a visible landmark between frames. In the editor, align the repeated strip and remove the duplicate area at each seam. If the page or feed changed during capture, retake the relevant section where possible; editing cannot recover content that was never captured.

A screen recording omits an app’s content

Some apps may not allow their content to be recorded. Apple notes this restriction in its screen-recording guidance. Try an allowed still screenshot, the app’s own export option, or another supported way to retain the content.

The PDF route is not available for the screen I need

The documented Share → Markup → Save File To sequence is for a webpage in Safari. It is not a universal export command for app screens. If the material is inside another app, check for an export or share option within that app; otherwise use screenshots and stitching when an image is required.
