The best BrowserCloud alternative depends on what you need to replace: a persistent remote browser for Playwright or Puppeteer, a managed scraping workflow, proxy infrastructure, or simply a screenshot/PDF endpoint. BrowserBase and Browserless are the closest direct comparisons named in BrowserCloud’s own materials; Apify, Oxylabs, Decodo and Bright Data address broader scraping or proxy needs. For screenshot-only jobs, ScreenshotNeo is an alternative to try first—but it is not a substitute for a stateful browser session.
What BrowserCloud does—and what an alternative must replace
BrowserCloud describes itself as an enterprise-grade browser-automation infrastructure service. Its documented model centers on cloud browser sessions that work with Puppeteer and Playwright, with stateful sessions, stealth capabilities, human-in-the-loop workflows, elastic scaling and live session URLs. It also documents HTTP endpoints for rendered content, screenshots and PDFs.

That combination makes BrowserCloud more than a screenshot endpoint or a proxy subscription. Before comparing prices, decide which part of the service your application actually uses. Replacing a remote Chrome session with a page-extraction API can require redesigning workflows that depend on interaction, persistent browser state or a live session that a person can inspect.
- Remote browser execution: You connect an automation framework to a browser running in the cloud and control page interactions.
- Rendered page output: You submit a URL and receive extracted content, a screenshot or a PDF, without necessarily managing a session yourself.
- Scraping workflows: You use a platform that organizes extraction tasks, actors, datasets or APIs rather than operating a raw browser endpoint.
- Proxy and web-data access: You prioritize IP coverage, rotation, geography or extraction infrastructure over browser-session orchestration.
BrowserCloud documents both browser sessions and output endpoints, so a replacement may need to cover one or both. The product descriptions available for the alternatives below do not establish that every service supports the same combination of frameworks, session persistence, stealth, live inspection and artifacts. Verify those requirements individually before migrating.

Which BrowserCloud alternative fits your workload?
| Alternative | Most relevant when | What is established here | What to verify before choosing |
|---|---|---|---|
| BrowserBase | You want a direct browser-infrastructure comparison. | BrowserCloud publishes a comparison that discusses infrastructure type, proxy pricing, API response time, proxy switching and cache optimization. Those are vendor-published comparison claims, not independent benchmark results. | Playwright/Puppeteer or CDP compatibility, session persistence and duration, concurrency, proxy options, artifact support, price units and your own workload performance. |
| Browserless | You want another direct comparison for remote browser access. | BrowserCloud’s comparison discusses shared versus dedicated infrastructure, response-time claims, session duration, caching and pricing model. Treat its comparative figures as marketing claims unless independently tested. | Whether the available infrastructure model, session limits, caching behavior and billing units fit your traffic and debugging needs. |
| Apify | Your priority is a scraping platform with workflows and datasets. | G2 describes Apify as a web-scraping and automation platform that can turn websites into APIs. This is a broader data-extraction direction than simply replacing a remote Chrome connection. | Whether its actors and workflows cover your tasks, whether you need direct browser control, and how its pricing maps to your runs and output volume. |
| Oxylabs | Your workload is enterprise web-data extraction where proxy and extraction capabilities are central. | G2 lists it among BrowserCloud alternatives in data extraction and proxy software. | Whether you need a browser session service as well as proxy or extraction capabilities; check geography, rotation, session behavior and billing for the intended product. |
| Decodo (formerly Smartproxy) | Proxy coverage, rotation and geography matter more than stateful browser orchestration. | G2 lists Decodo, formerly Smartproxy, as an alternative. | Whether you must operate browser sessions separately and whether the proxy locations and sticky-session behavior you need are available. |
| Bright Data | You are evaluating a web-data or proxy-oriented service. | G2 includes Bright Data in its paid alternatives list. | Whether the product you are considering provides browser sessions, proxies or data collection—and which of those you need. |
| ScreenshotNeo | You only need screenshots or PDFs from a URL, rather than an interactive, persistent remote browser. | ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single GET request can return an image or PDF; it is a narrower alternative, not a like-for-like BaaS replacement. | Whether a rendered artifact meets the requirement, or your workflow depends on browser control, session state, or other interactions. |
The table identifies fit, not a universal winner. The available descriptions do not provide an independently tested, apples-to-apples comparison across all these services, so no cross-vendor speed ranking is justified.
BrowserBase or Browserless: which direct competitor should you evaluate?
Start with the behavior your application needs, then compare the exact plan and endpoint you would use. BrowserCloud’s own pages place BrowserBase and Browserless in the direct-comparison set, but their reported response-time, savings, caching and infrastructure comparisons are vendor claims. They should be treated as questions to validate, not as neutral measurements.
Choose a test around your production workflow
- Run the same representative Playwright or Puppeteer task against each candidate, using equivalent page URLs, actions and output requirements.
- Measure end-to-end completion time and failure rate across repeated runs; include navigation, interaction and artifact retrieval rather than timing only a connection step.
- Test the concurrency you actually plan to run, and record queueing, session duration and behavior after a session disconnects.
- Check how you inspect a failed run: live session URL, logs, screenshots or other debugging artifacts should be confirmed from the product you intend to buy.
- Compare pricing against the measured workload and the service’s actual billing unit, not headline monthly amounts alone.
This is especially important when the page requires stateful interaction or human review. A fast content endpoint may not replace an automation session, while a session product may be unnecessary overhead if all you need is a rendered image.
When a scraping or proxy platform is the better alternative
Apify, Oxylabs, Decodo and Bright Data appear in the alternative set for different reasons; they should not be treated as interchangeable remote-browser services. Apify is framed as a workflow and dataset-oriented scraping platform. Oxylabs and Bright Data are natural candidates to investigate when enterprise web-data extraction or proxy infrastructure is central. Decodo is most relevant when proxy rotation, coverage and geography take priority over browser-session orchestration.

If a task depends on cookies, multi-step interactions, or a person taking over a live session, confirm that exact capability rather than inferring it from the words “scraping” or “automation.” Conversely, if you need data delivered through an API or managed workflow, check whether a browser-as-a-service endpoint leaves too much infrastructure and extraction work to your team.
Compare total cost, not just monthly price
BrowserCloud’s public pricing page lists the following monthly plans and concurrency limits. Its documented credit examples are one credit per content request, five credits per PDF request and five credits per screenshot request; browser time in websocket sessions is metered by the second. These are different units, so a workload that mixes session time and artifact requests should be modeled using its actual request mix.
| BrowserCloud plan | Public monthly price | Credits | Concurrent browsers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0/month | 1,000 | 1 |
| Hobby | $19/month | 120,000 | 5 |
| Startup | $99/month | 1,000,000 | 50 |
| Business | $249/month | 3,000,000 | 100 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom limits | Custom concurrency |
These are BrowserCloud’s published plan figures, not a normalized comparison with competing services. Before deciding whether another provider is cheaper, establish how it meters browser time, requests, credits, proxy traffic or concurrency. Then estimate an ordinary month and a peak month separately; a plan that fits average use may still be unsuitable if peak parallel sessions queue or exceed limits.
- Count browser-session seconds or hours separately from content, screenshot and PDF requests.
- Include the proxy mode and geography your workload requires; BrowserCloud documents datacenter and residential modes, country targeting, rotating proxies by default, and a sticky-proxy parameter for sessions that need a consistent IP.
- Check whether retries, failed loads, caching or idle session time affect the other vendor’s bill. Do not assume another service uses BrowserCloud’s credit rules.
- Price the engineering work of migration too: changing a browser connection is different from rewriting a session-based flow as an extraction workflow.
How to choose: a practical decision path
- List what your code calls today. Separate websocket/browser connections from HTTP content, screenshot and PDF requests.
- Mark state requirements. Note whether each flow needs cookies, a consistent IP, persistent session state, human takeover, or live debugging.
- Choose the service category. For remote interactive automation, test BrowserBase and Browserless first. For managed scraping workflows, evaluate Apify. For proxy-centric web-data work, evaluate Oxylabs, Decodo or Bright Data. For a screenshot/PDF endpoint alone, consider ScreenshotNeo.
- Run a representative pilot. Match the target pages and actions, then record completion, failures, concurrency behavior and returned artifacts.
- Normalize billing and limits. Compare the units that apply to your workload and confirm concurrency, session lifetime, proxy requirements and overage behavior directly with the provider.
- Switch incrementally. Route a small, measurable subset first, preserve a rollback path, and compare output and error handling before moving all traffic.
Where ScreenshotNeo fits
ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first when the BrowserCloud capability you need is specifically a website screenshot or PDF—not a cloud browser you control through Playwright or Puppeteer. It offers a GET endpoint and an MCP server for AI agents, and supports PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF output. Its relevant distinction for artifact capture is that it accepts consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture; each step can be disabled. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status.

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. This endpoint is appropriate when you need a capture artifact; it does not provide a general-purpose remote browser session for your own interactive automation. ScreenshotNeo has a free plan with 1,000 screenshots per month and no card required; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Its MCP server provides the tools take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients.

Troubleshooting a BrowserCloud migration
Your automation connects, but the workflow no longer behaves the same
Check whether the replacement provides a stateful browser session or only returns rendered content. Verify how cookies and session continuity work, and whether a live browser can be resumed or inspected. An HTTP extraction endpoint is not automatically a drop-in replacement for a Puppeteer or Playwright browser connection.

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Requests fail or behave differently at higher concurrency
Confirm the plan’s concurrent-browser limit and session lifetime, then test at the intended parallel load. BrowserCloud publishes plan-specific concurrency limits; alternatives may define concurrency, queueing and session duration differently. Do not infer equivalent limits from a similar-looking plan name or monthly price.
Pages return different content across runs
Inspect proxy mode and IP consistency. BrowserCloud documents rotating proxies by default and a sticky-proxy parameter for a consistent IP. If a workflow depends on geography or a stable session, verify the replacement’s country targeting and sticky-session behavior for the specific product and plan.
The monthly bill does not match a simple request count
Separate content, screenshot and PDF calls from websocket browser time. BrowserCloud documents different credit costs for these request types and second-based metering for websocket sessions. For a replacement, check whether retries, proxy traffic, browser duration and concurrency carry separate charges.
A vendor speed or savings claim does not match your results
Use your own repeated, equivalent runs. BrowserCloud’s comparison pages make vendor-published claims about response times, caching, infrastructure and pricing; those claims do not establish the result your workload will see.

Is BrowserCloud the same thing as a scraping API?
Not exactly. BrowserCloud documents both managed browser sessions and HTTP endpoints for rendered content, screenshots and PDFs; a scraping platform may instead center on managed extraction workflows and datasets.
Can I use ScreenshotNeo instead of BrowserCloud with Playwright?
Not as a general remote-browser replacement. ScreenshotNeo provides screenshot/PDF capture and an MCP server; it is relevant when you need an artifact rather than interactive browser-session control.
