For a WooCommerce store, the direct route is to connect the official Google for WooCommerce extension to Google Merchant Center, sync the catalog, and then resolve any feed or account issues Google reports. Syncing submits products for review; it does not guarantee approval or visibility.
Choose how to send products to Google
The instructions below apply to stores using WooCommerce. Google for WooCommerce is the documented direct-sync option: it sends product data to Merchant Center and lets you review feed issues in your WordPress dashboard. If your WordPress store uses a different commerce plugin, this WooCommerce setup may not apply.

For most WooCommerce store owners seeking ongoing synchronization, use the extension. A file, spreadsheet, or API may suit a different catalog workflow or technical setup.
Prepare your store and accounts
Before connecting the extension, check that the store and its information are ready for Merchant Center setup. WooCommerce’s setup guidance calls out account configuration, audience selection, shipping details, and tax information for US stores. It also flags server compatibility, store policies, secure checkout, and contact details. Stores selling outside the US and Canada should check that displayed prices include tax where required. - Have access to the Google account you want to connect.
- Know your shipping settings and, if the store is in the US, the applicable tax information.
- Make store policies and contact information available, and ensure checkout is secure.
- Confirm the site and server meet the extension’s compatibility requirements.
Connect WooCommerce to Merchant Center
- In WordPress, install and open the official Google for WooCommerce extension.
- Follow its setup flow to connect a Google account, then select an existing Merchant Center account or create one when prompted.
- Complete the store setup prompts, including audience selection and shipping information; provide tax information for a US store.
- Finish the connection and open the extension’s Product Feed area to see whether products are syncing and whether Google or the account has reported issues.

Check product data before syncing
Make sure each product has the core information Google needs to identify it and link shoppers to the right page. WooCommerce lists a title, description, product ID, product link, and image among the required product data. Add applicable unique product identifiers and category-specific attributes as well. Apparel, media, books, and electronics can require additional information, and custom global attributes may need to be mapped to Google’s fields. WooCommerce product feed documentation

- Use an accurate product title and description that match the item on the product page.
- Check that the product ID is present and consistent, and that the product link opens the correct item page.
- Provide a usable product image.
- Fill in applicable identifiers and category-specific data rather than assuming the basic fields cover every product type.
- If you use custom global attributes, verify that they map to the corresponding Google fields.
Choose which products the feed can show
The WooCommerce feed includes a channel visibility control with the options “Sync and Show” and “Don’t Sync and Show.” During setup, products are added to the feed and set to “Sync and Show” by default, according to WooCommerce. In WordPress, open Marketing > Google for WooCommerce > Product Feed. Review the Account Issues and Product Issues tabs, then open each reported issue and correct the relevant account setting or product data. The extension can show products as not synced, pending, active, expiring, or disapproved. These statuses describe different stages: a pending item is awaiting review, while a disapproved item is inactive. WooCommerce product feed documentation

- Correct the field or setting named in the issue, then allow the feed to sync and review the updated status.
- Use the individual status and issue details rather than assuming that a successful sync means a product is approved.
WooCommerce notes that active listings can take several days to appear. A product that is still pending, disapproved, or otherwise affected by an account issue should not be expected to appear as an active listing. WooCommerce product feed documentation
Do free listings require an ad campaign?
No. Sending product data for free listings and running a paid Performance Max campaign are separate decisions.
