Choose the right way to turn a website link into a PDF
The best method depends on whether you need one page, several pages, or a tightly controlled document.

Method 1: Convert a webpage URL with an online converter
PDF24 documents a direct workflow that accepts a webpage URL, requires no installation or registration, converts the page and then lets you download the PDF. The exact controls on other services differ, so treat the following as the common sequence.
- Copy the full URL. Include
https://, the complete path, and any query parameters needed to load the intended page. - Open a URL-to-PDF converter. Use the service’s webpage or URL conversion tool rather than a file-upload tool.
- Paste the URL into the address field. Confirm that it is the public page you intend to share; a URL containing a session token may expose private information.
- Start conversion. The service retrieves the page and renders it as PDF. Dynamic pages, login walls and bot checks may prevent a complete result.
- Download the PDF. Save it with a meaningful filename, then open it locally.
- Inspect the result. Check text, images, links, page breaks, headers, footers and any content that appears only after scrolling.
PDF24’s stated handling policy
PDF24 describes its converter as free, with no installation or registration. It says transfers are SSL secured, servers are in Germany, and uploaded files are automatically deleted after one hour. Those are PDF24’s own service claims, not an independent security assessment; verify the live policy before relying on them, especially for confidential material.

When an online converter is a poor fit
- The page requires a login, one-time code or a private browser session.
- The site blocks automated requests or displays a CAPTCHA.
- You need an entire site rather than one URL.
- You must control paper size, scaling, bookmarks, tags, backgrounds or scrollable content precisely.
Method 2: Save an open page with your browser’s Print dialog
If the page is already open and you only need that page, browser printing is often the shortest route. Adobe identifies the browser print function as a way to create a PDF, but the labels and available destinations differ by browser, operating system and device.
- Open the webpage and wait until the content you need has loaded.
- Open the browser menu and choose Print, or use the operating system’s print shortcut.
- In the destination or printer list, choose the PDF option offered by your browser or operating system, such as “Save as PDF.”
- Set paper size, orientation, scale, margins, background graphics and page range when those controls are available.
- Choose a filename and location, save the file, and open it for a visual check.
Why browser output can differ from the screen
Print stylesheets may hide navigation, change colors or rearrange columns. A long webpage can be split across multiple standard-size PDF pages; Adobe notes that one webpage may become several pages. Fixed-position banners, expandable sections and lazy-loaded images may also render differently. Scroll through the PDF rather than assuming the first page represents the whole source.
Method 3: Use desktop Acrobat for multi-level or highly controlled capture
Adobe’s desktop Acrobat documentation covers entering a URL or HTML source, capturing multiple levels of a site, and limiting the crawl to the same path or server. This is the better fit when “one link” is really the starting point for a small section of a website.
Useful crawl limits
- Capture depth: choose whether Acrobat follows links beyond the supplied page.
- Same path: keep captured URLs under the original directory path.
- Same server: prevent the capture from following links to other hosts.
Use the narrowest scope that satisfies the job. A site crawl can include menus, duplicate pages or links you did not intend to archive.

Output settings worth checking
Adobe’s conversion settings include page layout, orientation, scaling, images, bookmarks, PDF tags, background retention and expansion of scrollable blocks. Select settings based on the document’s purpose:
- Use portrait or landscape to keep tables and wide layouts readable.
- Reduce scaling only when it does not make text too small to read.
- Retain backgrounds when color or visual context matters; omit them to reduce ink and file size.
- Keep bookmarks and PDF tags when navigation or accessibility is important.
- Expand scrollable blocks when hidden text must appear in the PDF.
Make the PDF usable after conversion
Check pagination and missing content
Look for headings stranded at the bottom of a page, tables split in the wrong column, clipped images and blank pages. If content is missing, return to the source page, expand accordions, dismiss overlays and wait for images or charts to finish loading before printing again.
Check links and accessibility
Open several hyperlinks in the PDF, including links in navigation and footnotes. If the PDF is for distribution, confirm that text can be selected and searched, the reading order is sensible, and headings or tags are present when your workflow requires an accessible document.

Protect private information
A URL converter must fetch the address on your behalf. Do not submit pages containing confidential data, temporary authentication tokens or personal records unless the provider’s terms and handling practices meet your requirements. Browser printing keeps rendering on your device, but the resulting PDF can still contain hidden metadata or links.

Troubleshooting common conversion problems
The PDF is blank
Cause: the page needed JavaScript, was still loading, or blocked the converter. Fix: wait for the page in a browser, disable extensions that interfere with rendering, try browser printing, or use a capture service that supports a selector wait or network-idle wait.
Images or charts are missing
Cause: lazy loading, blocked third-party resources or images that appear only after scrolling. Fix: scroll through the page before printing, expand hidden sections, and verify that the source URL is publicly accessible.

Text is cut off or too small
Cause: print scaling, a narrow paper size or a wide responsive layout. Fix: change orientation, paper size, margins or scale; for desktop Acrobat, adjust its conversion settings and re-export.

The online service rejects the URL
