Desktop and Android use different controls, so start by identifying your platform and symptom before changing settings.
This guide covers missing commands, partial images, hangs, Android’s separate capture flows, output locations, and a browser-free alternative for automated screenshots.
First identify the platform and the exact symptom
Vivaldi’s desktop and Android capture tools are not interchangeable. Write down which product you are using and what happens when you try to capture:
- Command missing: You cannot find Capture, Capture Page, or the camera icon.
- Visible area only: The file contains the viewport rather than the whole document.
- Truncated image: Capture starts but stops partway down a long page.
- Hang or error: Vivaldi never finishes, shows an error, or produces no file.
- File apparently missing: Capture completes, but you cannot find the image.
Do not assume all of these symptoms have the same cause. Use the branch below that matches your result.

Desktop: select Full Page correctly
Use the Status Bar camera control
- Open the page you want to save.
- Click the camera icon in Vivaldi’s Status Bar.
- Select Full Page, not Selection.
- Choose an output: PNG, JPG, clipboard, or a Note, then start the capture.
Full Page is the mode intended to render the site’s entire length. Selection captures only a region you define, which can look like a failed full-page capture if the wrong option was chosen.
When the camera icon is not visible
You can launch the same integration without the Status Bar:
- Use a configured Capture keyboard shortcut.
- Open Quick Commands with F2 on Windows/Linux or ⌘E on macOS, search for Capture, and choose the full-page command.
- Open Notes and use its Capture integration.
If none of these commands appears, continue with the clean-profile and extension checks below; a customized toolbar or profile can hide controls without meaning that the feature is unavailable.
Check the desktop 30,000-pixel limit
Vivaldi defines Full Page as a screenshot of the full website length with a maximum of 30,000 pixels. A very long document can therefore produce an image that ends before the page ends. The limit is a documented ceiling, not proof that every partial capture has the same cause.

To diagnose this case, compare the captured image’s bottom edge with the page length. Try a shorter page or capture a specific section. If shorter pages work and the same extremely long page repeatedly stops at a similar height, the stated maximum is the most likely explanation. Splitting the content into several captures is the practical workaround; changing PNG to JPG will not remove a pixel-height limit.
Android: use Capture Page, not the Share screenshot
The full-page Android path
- Open the page in Vivaldi for Android.
- Open the browser menu.
- Tap Capture Page.
- Choose the option for the full web page, then save or share the result.
Vivaldi’s Android help states that some page-length restrictions may apply, but it does not publish a numeric threshold on the cited help page. If a long Android capture ends early, treat the length as a possible limitation rather than assuming a particular pixel number.
Why Share produces the wrong image
The Android Share menu has a separate screenshot flow. Its ordinary screenshot captures the visible area and includes browser user-interface elements. A Share-menu Long screenshot lets you manually size a region; it is not the same as Capture Page and is not a guarantee of a complete document. Use Capture Page when you need the page without browser UI and want the full-page option.
Reset the desktop environment one variable at a time
For a desktop failure that is not explained by mode or page length, Vivaldi’s general troubleshooting guidance is a useful isolation sequence. These are general browser diagnostics, not documented capture-specific cures.

- Restart Vivaldi. Close all windows, reopen the browser, reload the page, and try one capture.
- Update Vivaldi. Install the current update offered by your installation, restart, and retest.
- Test a clean profile. Use Guest or create a new user profile, open the same URL, and run Full Page. A clean result points toward profile settings, extensions, or stored site data in the original profile.
- Disable extensions temporarily. Turn them off, reload, and capture again. Re-enable them individually to identify a conflict.
- Turn off content blocking for the test. Tracker or ad blocking can prevent page elements from loading, and some site functionality depends on those elements. Change the blocking setting for the test page, reload, and retry.
- Pause a VPN as a diagnostic. A VPN can change routing, DNS, or the page response. Disconnect only long enough to reload and compare the result, then reconnect if it makes no difference.
Change one variable per test and record whether the symptom changes. That gives you a reproducible cause instead of a collection of simultaneous changes that cannot be evaluated.
When hardware acceleration is relevant
Vivaldi’s general help discusses hardware acceleration for video/media problems and interface appearance or responsiveness. Consider that setting only when your capture failure is accompanied by those symptoms; it is not a blanket fix for a truncated document.
Find a capture that succeeded
Check the configured storage folder
Desktop image files are written to the directory configured at Settings > Webpages > Image Capture > Capture Storage Folder. Open that setting and inspect the exact path rather than searching only your default Downloads folder.
Check the selected output
- PNG or JPG: Look in the capture storage folder.
- Clipboard: Paste into an image editor or document immediately; no file is created until you save it.
- Note: Open Vivaldi Notes. The capture is attached to the note with its webpage link and creation date.
A missing file can therefore be a destination or output-choice issue, not a rendering failure.

When to report a repeatable defect
If the same page and steps fail after the relevant checks, preserve the details: desktop or Android, Vivaldi version, operating system, URL, selected mode, page length, extensions or blockers enabled, and the exact symptom. Discuss the reproducible case on Vivaldi’s Forum and file a bug report using Vivaldi’s reporting guidelines. Do not label it a known bug unless an official issue for your version confirms that status.

Will changing PNG to JPG make a full-page capture longer?
No. The file format changes encoding and size, but it does not increase the page-length ceiling or make unloaded page content appear.

Should I keep a VPN disabled permanently?
No. Disconnecting is only a comparison test. Reconnect it if the capture behaves the same, and keep whichever network configuration your normal work requires.
Can Vivaldi’s Android help page tell me the exact maximum page length?
