To save an entire webpage as one PNG without scrolling, use your browser’s full-page screenshot feature. In Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S and choose Capture full page. In Firefox, right-click the page, select Take Screenshot, then choose Save full page. For repeatable Firefox captures, run :screenshot filename.png --fullpage in the Web Console. These methods create an image; a normal screen snip only captures what is currently visible.
Choose the right capture method
The best method depends on whether you need the visible screen or the whole rendered page, and whether the result must be a PNG or a PDF.

For a single full-page image, start with Edge or Firefox. Use Firefox’s command when you want a repeatable browser workflow. If only the visible portion matters, an operating-system snip is simpler. Use print-to-PDF when the goal is a document rather than an image.
Save a full webpage as a PNG in Microsoft Edge
- Open the webpage you want to capture and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S to open Edge’s Screenshot feature.
- Choose Capture full page.
- Review the captured page in the screenshot overlay, then use its save or download control to save the image.
Edge describes this as capturing an entire webpage in one screenshot, including content beyond the screen. It also says Screenshot can keep moving content—such as videos, GIFs, and carousels—active during capture. That behavior and feature availability may vary by device, market, and browser version, so if the shortcut or option is missing, check the Screenshot controls available in your installed Edge version.

Save a full-page PNG in Firefox
Use Firefox’s screenshot controls
- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Right-click the page and choose Take Screenshot.
- Select Save full page.
- Download the generated image.
Mozilla documents the full-page download as an image file with a .png extension. If you only need a section, select the visible-area or region capture option instead; that will not include the rest of a long page.
Use the Web Console for a repeatable capture
- Open Firefox DevTools and select the Web Console.
- Enter
:screenshot filename.png --fullpageand run the command. - Find the saved image in your Downloads folder, which Mozilla documents as the default save location.
Replace filename.png with the name you want to use. The --fullpage flag tells Firefox to capture the whole webpage instead of only the section currently visible in the browser window. This is useful when you need a consistent command to repeat, but it still captures what the browser has rendered; it does not guarantee that content hidden behind interaction or not yet loaded will appear.

What about Chrome?
Chrome users commonly use DevTools’ command menu and the Capture full size screenshot command. The exact wording or shortcut can vary with the installed Chrome version. Open DevTools and inspect its command menu rather than relying on a shortcut that may not match your version. A current official Chrome help page confirming the exact steps is not established here, so treat the label as version-dependent.
Make sure the capture includes the content you need
Wait for lazy-loaded content
Some pages load images or sections only as you scroll. If a full-page capture is taken before that content has loaded, parts of the resulting image may be blank or incomplete. For a manual capture, scroll through the page first, pause for images and embeds to appear, then return to the top and capture. This can prompt lazy-loaded sections to render, but it cannot force every site or third-party embed to load.

Account for moving or changing elements
Carousels, animations, live counters, video, and other changing content can look different from one capture to another. Edge says its Screenshot feature keeps some moving content active during capture, but the result can still depend on the page and browser version. If a particular frame matters, pause the media or wait for the desired state before taking the screenshot when the site permits it.
Understand what “full page” means
A full-page screenshot captures the page as rendered by the browser; it is not the same as saving the webpage’s source files. It may not show content behind a login, consent prompt, modal, or interaction that has not been completed. A normal screen snip captures a viewport or selected region and does not automatically include content farther down the page.

PNG or PDF: which should you choose?
Choose PNG when you need a raster image—for example, to place a page capture in a slide, attach it to a bug report, or retain a visual snapshot. Choose PDF when you need a document-like file for printing or reading. In Edge, Microsoft documents Ctrl+P on Windows and Command+P on macOS to open print. Printing is a separate output path and does not turn the page into a PNG.

Troubleshooting full-page PNG captures
The capture includes only what was visible
- Cause: You used a normal screen snip or selected a visible-area capture.
- Fix: Use Edge’s Capture full page, Firefox’s Save full page, or Firefox’s
:screenshot filename.png --fullpagecommand.
The screenshot option or shortcut is missing
- Cause: Browser features and labels can differ by version, device, or market.
- Fix: Check the screenshot controls in your installed browser. In Firefox, try the page context menu’s Take Screenshot entry; in Edge, open the Screenshot feature and inspect its available capture choices.
Images or sections are blank
- Cause: The page may load content lazily, or the content may depend on scrolling, a delay, or interaction.
- Fix: Scroll down the page first, wait for the missing content, then return to the top and capture again. If it requires an interaction, complete it before capture where appropriate.
The image differs from what you expected
- Cause: Media or page elements changed while the capture was being made.
- Fix: Pause moving content or capture after the page reaches the desired state. Results for moving elements can depend on the browser and page.
You got a PDF instead of a PNG
- Cause: You used the browser’s print workflow.
- Fix: Use the browser’s screenshot feature for a PNG image. Print-to-PDF is intended to produce a document file.
The Firefox command did not save where expected
- Cause: You are looking in the current page folder rather than Firefox’s default Downloads location.
- Fix: Check Downloads for the named PNG file. Mozilla documents Downloads as the default location for the Web Console screenshot command.
