The correct keyboard-led workflow depends on your browser: Firefox and Microsoft Edge open a screenshot tool, where you then choose the full-page option; Chrome uses DevTools’ Command Menu and its full-size screenshot command.
- Firefox (Windows/Linux): Ctrl+Shift+S, then Save full page.
- Firefox (macOS): Command+Shift+S, then Save full page.
- Microsoft Edge: Ctrl+Shift+S, then Capture full page.
- Chrome: open DevTools, press Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows/Linux) or Command+Shift+P (macOS), then run the full-size screenshot command.
These workflows capture the webpage beyond the visible viewport. A normal operating-system screenshot shortcut generally captures only what is currently visible.
What “full-page screenshot” means
A full-page capture is one image of the webpage from its top to its bottom, including content that is currently off-screen. It is different from a desktop or window screenshot, which normally records only the visible screen area. Browser tools may need to render additional page content before producing the file, so the result can take longer than a visible-area capture.
The labels and key combinations below are the documented workflows for the browser and operating-system combinations shown. Browser interfaces can change; if a label differs in your installation, use the browser’s built-in help or DevTools command search to find the equivalent full-page action.

Firefox: use the screenshot shortcut, then save the full page
Mozilla documents a screenshot tool that can capture either the visible portion or the complete webpage. The shortcut opens the tool; it does not by itself choose the full-page mode.
Windows and Linux
- Open the page you want to capture in Firefox.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- In the screenshot tool, select Save full page in the upper-right area.
- Choose the download location or accept Firefox’s normal download behavior.
macOS
- With the target page active, press Command+Shift+S.
- Select Save full page.
- Save the resulting image where you can find it.
Mozilla’s current instructions are available at Firefox screenshot support. If the shortcut appears to do nothing, first click inside the page rather than an address-bar field, and check whether another application has claimed the same key combination.
Microsoft Edge: choose Capture full page
In Edge, Ctrl+Shift+S opens the browser’s Screenshot feature. You must then choose Capture full page to include content below the viewport.

- Navigate to the page.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Choose Capture full page, not the visible-area option.
- Review the generated capture and save or download it using the controls shown.
Microsoft describes this workflow on its Edge Screenshot page. Edge’s documented shortcut here is for Windows; macOS users should use the browser’s currently displayed Screenshot command if their Edge build exposes a different binding.

Chrome: use DevTools’ Command Menu
Chrome’s documented full-page route is keyboard-led but not a dedicated screenshot keystroke. It uses DevTools and the Capture a full size screenshot command.
Windows and Linux
- Open the page in Chrome.
- Open DevTools with F12, Ctrl+Shift+I, or the browser menu’s More tools → Developer tools.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+P to open the DevTools Command Menu.
- Type full size screenshot.
- Select Capture a full size screenshot. Chrome downloads the resulting image.
macOS
- Open DevTools for the page.
- Press Command+Shift+P.
- Search for full size screenshot.
- Choose Capture a full size screenshot.
Chrome’s key combinations are listed in the Chrome DevTools keyboard-shortcuts reference, and the full-size capture action is described in Chrome’s device-mode documentation. The command captures the whole page, including content not visible in the current viewport.

How to get a reliable capture
Prepare the page first
- Wait for the page’s main content to appear before invoking the tool.
- Dismiss anything that genuinely blocks the page or obscures the content you need.
- Keep the browser window active while the screenshot tool runs.
- For a reproducible record, note the URL and the date, because live pages can change.
Check the result instead of assuming success
- Confirm that the image extends to the page’s bottom rather than stopping at the viewport.
- Look for missing images, blank sections, clipped fixed headers, or duplicated sticky elements.
- Open the downloaded file at its native size; a very tall image may be difficult to inspect when scaled down.
Dynamic and long pages
Pages that load content only after interaction, depend on authentication, or continuously append items can produce a different result from what you see after manually scrolling. If important content is missing, let the page finish loading, trigger the required interaction, and capture again. For a page that changes on every load, save the URL and the capture time with the image.
Troubleshooting the keyboard workflow
The shortcut does nothing
Make sure the browser page has focus, then try again. On laptops, a function-key setting can affect DevTools access, but Firefox, Edge, and the DevTools Command Menu use the combinations shown above rather than a function key. Extensions, desktop utilities, remote-desktop software, and operating-system accessibility tools can also intercept shortcuts; temporarily disable the conflicting binding or use the browser menu.
The tool opens, but the result is only the visible area
In Firefox choose Save full page; in Edge choose Capture full page. In Chrome, selecting a regular screenshot command is not enough—run Capture a full size screenshot from the DevTools Command Menu.

Chrome’s Command Menu cannot find the command
Verify that DevTools is open and that the Command Menu is active. Search for full size screenshot rather than an abbreviated phrase. If the wording has changed in your Chrome version, search for “screenshot” and choose the command that explicitly says it captures the full size or full page.
Images or lower sections are missing
Reload the page and wait for its content to finish loading. Some sites defer images or sections until they are requested by scrolling or another interaction. Perform that interaction first, then repeat the full-page capture. If the page requires a sign-in, complete it in the same tab before starting the screenshot.
The page is extremely tall or the file is unwieldy
A full-page image can be much taller than a normal display. Use an image viewer that can zoom and pan, or crop a copy for a specific report while retaining the original. If you need a paginated document rather than one very tall bitmap, use a PDF-capable workflow instead of treating the image as a print layout.

Fixed headers, cookie dialogs, or chat widgets cover content
Close or accept overlays that block the page before capturing. Sticky elements can appear repeatedly or cover text in a stitched image; if the browser tool offers no way to hide them, capture after the element is dismissed or use a controlled capture service that supports selectors and custom scripts.
