To capture content below the fold in one file, open the page in Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S, and choose Capture full page. This guide explains both workflows, how to save and verify the result, and what to do when full-page capture is unavailable.
What Snipping Tool can—and cannot—capture
On Windows 10 and Windows 11, Snipping Tool is designed for screen-oriented captures. Pressing Windows logo key + Shift + S opens an overlay with these choices:
- Rectangular snip: drag around a visible rectangle.
- Freeform snip: draw an irregular outline around visible content.
- Window snip: capture a selected application window.
- Full-screen snip: capture the screens currently displayed.
None of those modes scrolls a webpage while it captures. If you take one snip, scroll, and take another, you get separate images. You can stitch those images together in an editor, but Snipping Tool does not document an automatic scrolling or “stitch” mode.
That distinction matters: a full-screen snip is the entire current display, not the entire webpage. A page that continues below the viewport remains uncaptured.

Capture the visible part of a webpage with Snipping Tool
Use this method when you need a quote, form, chart or other region currently on screen.
- Open the webpage and scroll until the content you need is visible.
- Press Windows logo key + Shift + S. The screen dims and the Snipping Tool capture bar appears.
- Choose Rectangular or Freeform for a region. Choose Window to include the browser window, or Full-screen for the entire display.
- Drag over the visible area, or select the window or screen as appropriate.
- Open the notification thumbnail to edit the capture. Use the save command to choose a file name and location, or copy and share it.
This produces an image of the current viewport. It does not include sections that were above or below it.
Making a series of Snipping Tool captures
If a full-page feature is not available and you must use Snipping Tool, capture overlapping sections:
- Set a consistent browser zoom and window size.
- Take the first rectangular snip.
- Scroll by a repeatable distance, leaving a small overlap with the previous section.
- Repeat until the end of the page.
- Join the images in an image editor, presentation app or document.
Overlapping sections make alignment easier, but this remains a manual process. Fixed elements such as sticky headers can appear in every image, and responsive layouts may change as you scroll.

Microsoft Edge’s Screenshot feature is the direct workaround for a complete webpage. Microsoft describes it as capturing an entire webpage, including content beyond the screen.
- Open the target webpage in Microsoft Edge.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Select Capture full page.
- Review the resulting capture. Use Edge’s markup tools if you need to annotate it.
- Copy the image or save it to a file from the Screenshot interface.
The same Edge tool can capture a selected area when you do not need the entire document. The full-page option is the important choice for a scrolling page.

When Edge does not show “Capture full page”
Microsoft notes that Screenshot availability and functionality can vary by device type, market and browser version. Update Edge, reopen the page and try Ctrl+Shift+S again. Prepare a page for a reliable full-page capture
Full-page tools capture the page as it renders, so preparation affects the result.
- Wait for content: let images, charts and embedded sections finish loading before starting the capture.
- Check lazy-loaded sections: some pages load media only after you scroll. Edge may not trigger every site-specific lazy-loading behavior.
- Close transient UI: dismiss cookie banners, newsletter prompts and chat panels when possible.
- Use a stable layout: keep the browser window size and zoom consistent if you need repeatable captures.
- Review the output: check the bottom of the image, images, fonts and fixed headers before sharing it.
Very long pages can produce a large image that is awkward to email or print. For a document intended for printing, a PDF workflow may be more practical than one tall bitmap.

Troubleshooting full-page captures
The shortcut does nothing
Confirm that the active window is Microsoft Edge and press Ctrl+Shift+S again. A different application may have intercepted the shortcut, or the browser version may not expose Screenshot.

The capture stops before the bottom
Wait for the page to finish loading, then retry. Infinite-scroll feeds do not have a fixed end, and content loaded only after interaction may not be present in the initial capture. Use Edge’s selected-area mode for a known section or capture successive sections manually.
Images or embedded content are missing
Check whether the content is blocked by a login, privacy setting, script failure or lazy-loading behavior. Refresh the page, allow required content and repeat the capture. For controlled automation, ScreenshotNeo can wait for a selector, delay or network idle and can supply cookies or headers.
