A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11To capture lazy-loaded content reliably with Puppeteer, use this sequence: trigger the page’s loading behavior by scrolling the correct target, wait for a page-specific readiness signal, verify that the requested items or assets exist, then extract or capture them. A full-page screenshot, a fixed delay, or network-idle alone is not a universal lazy-loading solution because each site chooses its own trigger and completion condition.
The examples below target Puppeteer 25.12.0-era APIs. Check the current page-interactions guide and related API references if your installed version differs.
The four-stage workflow
1. Trigger loading with the owner of the content
First determine what actually scrolls. Some pages load items when the browser window moves; others use a nested feed, carousel, or modal with its own scrollbar. Scrolling the wrong element can leave the lazy content untouched.
Puppeteer’s current guide says “Locators is the recommended way to select an element and interact with it.” Locator scrolling generates mouse-wheel events, which is important for sites that listen for real scrolling rather than simply checking scrollTop. The documented API supports options such as scrollLeft and scrollTop; see the interactions guide.

2. Wait for evidence, not an arbitrary delay
After each scroll, wait for a condition tied to the content you need: an item count, a visible selector, a data attribute, a loaded image, a terminal marker, or a function that reports no further growth. Locator waits can return serializable values, so they can both wait and collect data.
3. Verify the result
Before taking a screenshot or reading text, confirm that the expected content exists. Check the number of cards, the presence of a “no more results” marker, image completion state, or another page-specific signal. A successful request or a quiet network does not prove that the desired item rendered.
4. Extract or capture
Use a locator or element handle when you need one component. Use page.screenshot({fullPage: true}) when you need the page’s full current extent. Puppeteer documents full-page capture as a size option, not as a lazy-loading algorithm; it does not promise to trigger every site’s deferred-content logic. See the screenshots guide and ScreenshotOptions.
A complete incremental-scroll example
This script loads cards in batches, waits for the count to increase, stops on a page-specific end marker or repeated no-growth, extracts text, and finally captures the page. Replace selectors and the stopping rule with values from the target site.
import puppeteer from 'puppeteer';
const browser = await puppeteer.launch({headless: true});
const page = await browser.newPage();
await page.setViewport({width: 1440, height: 900, deviceScaleFactor: 1});
await page.goto('https://example.com/catalog', {waitUntil: 'domcontentloaded'});
const cardSelector = '.card';
const endSelector = '[data-end="true"]';
const maxRounds = 100;
let previousCount = 0;
let unchangedRounds = 0;
for (let round = 0; round < maxRounds; round++) {
const countBefore = await page.locator(cardSelector)
.map(items => items.length)
.wait();
await page.locator('body').scroll({scrollTop: 700});
try {
await page.locator(() => {
const cards = document.querySelectorAll('.card').length;
const ended = !!document.querySelector('[data-end="true"]');
return ended || cards > 0;
}).wait({timeout: 5000});
} catch {
// The page-specific condition did not become true during this round.
}
const countAfter = await page.locator(cardSelector)
.map(items => items.length)
.wait();
const ended = await page.locator(endSelector).count() > 0;
if (countAfter <= countBefore) unchangedRounds++;
else unchangedRounds = 0;
if (ended || unchangedRounds >= 2) break;
previousCount = countAfter;
}
const content = await page.locator(cardSelector).map(items =>
items.map(item => item.textContent?.trim() ?? '')
).wait();
await page.screenshot({path: 'catalog.png', fullPage: true});
console.log({cards: content.length, content});
await browser.close();
The count condition above is intentionally illustrative. The official guide demonstrates locator mapping and function waits, but it does not publish this exact end-to-end infinite-scroll recipe. Confirm that .card is stable and that your stopping condition means “all requested content loaded,” not merely “one card exists.”
Scrolling the window versus a nested feed
Window or document scrolling
Use a body or page-level locator when the document itself owns the scroll position. Incremental movement is safer than one jump because many implementations attach an intersection observer to items as they approach the viewport.

await page.locator('body').scroll({scrollTop: 700});
Scrolling a nested container
Select the element with its own overflow scrolling and move that element. A feed may have a fixed height and overflow-y: auto; moving the body will not fire the feed’s loading logic.
const feed = page.locator('.results-feed');
await feed.scroll({scrollTop: 600});
If the container has horizontal content, use scrollLeft as well. Inspect the page in DevTools to identify the element whose scroll position changes when a human uses the wheel.

Choosing a readiness signal
Known item count
If the page should show 40 records, wait until the selector count reaches 40. This is the strongest simple rule when the expected total is known.
await page.locator(() =>
document.querySelectorAll('.result-card').length >= 40
).wait();
Visible element or attribute
Wait for a sentinel, status label, or attribute that the site sets after loading.
await page.locator('.results-complete').wait();
await page.locator('.hero img[data-loaded="true"]').wait();
Text or application state
Some interfaces expose “Loading complete,” a page number, or a JSON-backed state attribute. Test the exact text or attribute rather than assuming a network request means rendering is done.
No-growth termination
Infinite feeds often have no explicit end marker. Record the count before and after a scroll; stop only after a page-appropriate number of consecutive rounds without growth, and retain a maximum-round limit to prevent a runaway job.

Network idle as a secondary signal
page.waitForNetworkIdle() waits until network activity falls below the configured concurrency and always waits at least the configured idle period. The options reference lists a 500 ms default idleTime. See Page.waitForNetworkIdle and WaitForNetworkIdleOptions. Use it after a trigger when useful, then verify the DOM condition that matters:
await page.locator('body').scroll({scrollTop: 700});
await page.waitForNetworkIdle({idleTime: 500, concurrency: 0});
await page.locator('.result-card').wait();
Idle can occur while a browser cache, service worker, animation, or client-side rendering still leaves the target absent. It is a timing aid, not proof of completeness.
Capturing one element or the entire page
Element screenshot
When you need a chart, card, or feed rather than the whole document, capture the element after verification. Puppeteer’s ElementHandle.screenshot API scrolls the element into view if needed.
const element = await page.$('.results-feed');
if (!element) throw new Error('Feed not found');
await element.screenshot({path: 'feed.png'});
Full-page screenshot
Use fullPage: true after all intended scrolling and checks.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
await page.screenshot({path: 'full-page.png', fullPage: true});
Full-page extent and lazy-loading are separate concerns. If the page virtualizes rows, old nodes may be removed as new ones appear; a final screenshot may show only the currently retained DOM, not every row visited.
Extracting content safely
Read text only after the readiness condition. For attributes, return a serializable object from a locator mapping function.

}))
).wait();
For images, a DOM node can exist before its pixels finish loading. Where image completeness matters, wait for a page-specific loaded attribute or test HTMLImageElement.complete and naturalWidth in a function condition.
Dynamic and virtualized lists
Virtualized interfaces recycle a small set of DOM nodes. A count of .row elements may remain constant even while the user has traversed hundreds of records. In that case, capture or extract each batch as it appears, deduplicate using a stable key, and stop using the application’s total count, cursor, sentinel, or API-backed state. There is no general Puppeteer recipe that can infer the complete logical list from a recycled DOM; validate the strategy against the target page.

Nothing loads after scrolling
- Confirm that the selected locator is the real scroll owner, not a wrapper.
- Use incremental wheel-like scrolling and verify that the scroll position changes.
- Check whether content requires a click, focus, hover, or an intersection threshold before it requests data.
The script times out waiting for a selector
- Inspect the selector for dynamic classes, shadow DOM, or an iframe.
- Increase the timeout only after confirming the trigger is correct.
- Replace a fragile selector with a stable role, data attribute, item count, or page-state marker.
Network idle arrives but cards are missing
Keep the network wait as a secondary signal and add a DOM assertion for the cards, text, or loaded attribute you require. Client-side rendering can happen after requests finish.
Full-page capture misses images
Scroll through the page first, wait for image readiness, and then capture. Full-page mode changes screenshot extent; it is not documented to activate every lazy-loading implementation.
The loop never ends
Add a maximum round count, detect an explicit terminal marker when available, and stop after a defined number of no-growth rounds. Log counts and scroll positions so you can distinguish a true end from a broken selector.
Duplicate or missing records
This commonly indicates virtualization or unstable ordering. Capture each batch with a stable ID, deduplicate in your application, and compare the collected IDs with the page’s reported total where one exists.

Performance, reliability, and cost choices
- Scroll size: smaller increments create more checks but are less likely to skip intersection thresholds; larger increments reduce work but may bypass page-specific triggers.
- Waiting: a targeted DOM wait usually finishes sooner and proves more than a long fixed delay. Add network idle only when it helps the page settle.
- Capture scope: element screenshots use less memory than very tall full-page images. Capture only the required region when possible.
- Retries: retry navigation or a failed round with bounded backoff, but do not blindly repeat extraction that may create duplicates.
- Reproducibility: fix viewport, device scale, locale, timezone, and authentication state when comparing captures.

ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its clean-shot workflow accepts cookie and consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be disabled. Bot checks, CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing result.
For a direct capture, see the ScreenshotNeo documentation:

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Puppeteer’s full-page option automatically load every lazy image?
No. It captures the page’s full current extent, but the page still decides what event triggers lazy loading. Scroll and verify the required content first.
Should I use a fixed timeout after every scroll?
Use a page-specific DOM condition whenever possible. A timeout can be a fallback, but it does not establish that the intended item appeared.
How can I handle an infinite list with no final marker?
Track item growth, stop after a defined number of consecutive no-growth rounds, and enforce a maximum number of scroll rounds. For virtualized lists, collect stable IDs rather than relying on DOM count.
What does Locator.scroll do differently from changing scrollTop?
The documented Locator.scroll interaction uses mouse-wheel events and can target a selected element, matching pages that listen for user-like scrolling.
