If the option is missing or the result cuts off, take overlapping screenshots in order and check that the entire post is readable.
The key distinction is whether the post is open in the X app or as a webpage in a browser. Built-in full-page capture is not guaranteed to work inside every app or on every dynamically loaded page. This guide covers both routes, ways to check the result, and what to do when one tall capture is not available.
Open the post itself before capturing it
Start from the post’s detail page, not just the timeline card. X’s help page says clicking a post opens its post detail page. That gives you a focused view of the content you want to save and makes it easier to see whether the captured page contains the complete post. X Help: How to Post
- Find the long post in X.
- Click or tap the post to open its individual detail view.
- Check that the opening text and the rest of the post are visible as you scroll. If the post is a thread, distinguish the post you intend to capture from any replies or other posts on the page.
- Choose a capture method based on where the post is displayed: an app screen, a mobile browser page, or a desktop browser page.
X describes longer posts as a Premium feature and says they can be composed on iOS, Android, or desktop. Premium features and interface details can change, so the exact controls you see may differ. X also describes Reader Mode as a way to turn threads into readable text; its help page does not document Reader Mode as an image-export feature. X Premium help

Choose the capture method for your device and view

iPhone: use Full Page in Safari
Apple’s documented route is for webpage content, with an entire webpage in Safari as its example. Open the post as a webpage in Safari if you want to try this method; do not assume the same control is available in the X app.
- Open the post webpage in Safari and take a screenshot using your iPhone’s usual screenshot control.
- Tap the screenshot preview before it disappears.
- Select Full Page in the preview.
- Review the full capture, then save it as an image or PDF.
If Full Page is absent, treat that as a limitation of the current screen or view rather than evidence that the post is too long. Use sequential screenshots instead. Apple’s iPhone guide describes the feature and its supported save formats: Take a screenshot on iPhone.
Android: look for scrolling capture in the screenshot preview
On Android 12 and later, Google says scrolling screenshots work on most screens that allow scrolling. Take a screenshot, then inspect the preview for a control such as a scrolling capture or an option to capture more. The precise label and interaction may depend on the phone, so follow the control shown on your device rather than expecting identical buttons across Android models.
If the control does not appear, the screen may not support scrolling capture in that context. Google recommends checking the device manufacturer’s support when its standard methods do not work. See Google’s Android screenshot instructions.

Desktop: capture the full webpage in Microsoft Edge
With the post open as a webpage in Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S, then choose Capture full page. Review the resulting capture and save or copy it. Microsoft notes that availability can vary by device, market, and browser version, so the command or action may not be present in every setup. When one tall screenshot is not available
Use ordinary screenshots as a reliable fallback instead of forcing a capture option that is not offered. Scroll through the post in manageable increments and capture each screen with a little of the previous screen still visible. That repeated text makes the reading order easier to reconstruct and reduces the chance of omitting a line at a screen boundary.
- Begin with a capture that shows the post’s start and enough context to identify what you are saving.
- Move down gradually, leaving a small overlap between one image and the next.
- Continue until you have captured the end of the post, not just the last screenful you happened to view.
- Inspect the images in order. Confirm that no text is skipped and that the overlap makes the sequence clear.
- If the result is meant to be read as one item, share the images in the same order or assemble them only if doing so preserves legibility.
These are practical steps, not a guarantee that every page can be captured seamlessly. Content that loads as you scroll or changes while you are capturing it may not appear consistently in a single tall image. Check the final files rather than assuming the capture includes everything.
Make the screenshot useful to someone else
A screenshot is a static record. It does not establish that the post will look the same later: X warns in its WhatsApp-sharing guidance that shared content may not reflect the current state on X. When readers need to verify the post or see its current version, include the original post link alongside the image. X Help: How to Post

Keep the account name and enough surrounding context visible when possible, without shrinking the text until it becomes difficult to read. If you repost the image, add image-description text that transcribes or summarizes the words shown. Troubleshoot an incomplete or hard-to-read capture
The full-page or scrolling button is missing
Check that you are capturing a supported context: Apple’s Full Page instructions concern webpages in Safari, Android scrolling capture applies to most scrollable screens on Android 12 and later, and Edge’s full-page action can vary by device, market, and browser version. If the control still is not offered, switch to overlapping screenshots rather than assuming the feature works everywhere.
The capture stops before the end of the post
Return to the post detail page, scroll to its end, and check whether more content appears as you move down. If a tall capture remains incomplete, use a sequence of screenshots and verify the first and last portions before sharing. Do not label a partial capture as the entire post.
The image contains several posts or unrelated page content
Open the individual post from the timeline and recapture from its detail view. If the page still contains more than the intended post, keep enough context for interpretation and clarify what the image includes when you share it.

Use a closer crop or a PDF/full-page file where supported, or divide the content across several screenshots. Avoid compressing a tall capture into a small image: a complete but unreadable screenshot does not help the reader.

There is no obvious place to save the result
For Safari’s documented Full Page flow, Apple says the capture can be saved as an image or PDF. In Edge, Microsoft says the capture can be saved or copied. Android controls and available actions can depend on the device; consult its manufacturer’s support if the standard screenshot method is not working.

Only if they are included in the screen or webpage area you capture. Check the finished image or file against the specific content you meant to preserve.
Should I share only the screenshot?
If readers may need to check the post later, share its link with the image so they can open the source on X.
