Firefox users should begin with Download All Images when assets may be hidden in iframes, links, scripts or CSS. For lazy-loaded feeds that you want to collect as you scroll, Website Image Downloader is the more focused choice.
The right extension depends on whether you need separate image files, an original-resolution asset, or a complete offline copy of the page. This guide matches each job to a tool and explains how to avoid missing images, downloading thumbnails, or reusing files without permission.

Extensions cannot recover an asset that a site never exposes to the browser. Results vary with markup, access controls, lazy-loading behavior and whether the page supplies an original image URL.
Imageye: the best Chrome extension for bulk selection
Imageye is the most practical first choice when you are using Chrome and want dozens of individual files. Its Chrome Web Store listing describes a tool that finds and downloads images on a webpage. You can select many results at once, filter by pixel width or height and by URL, copy an original-image URL when one is available, run a reverse-image search, and convert supported downloads to WebP, JPG or PNG.

The listing accessed in 2026 reports version 5.30.1, an update on March 18, 2026, 2,000,000 users and 16.7K ratings. Store figures and versions change, so treat them as a snapshot rather than a permanent performance guarantee.
How to use Imageye
- Install Imageye from the Chrome Web Store and open the page containing the images.
- Open the extension from Chrome’s toolbar. Let it scan the current tab.
- Use width, height or URL filters to remove icons, avatars and tracking pixels. Prefer a minimum dimension that matches the files you actually need.
- Select individual results or use the bulk-selection controls. Inspect the preview to catch thumbnails and duplicates.
- Download the selection, or copy an original URL when the page exposes a higher-resolution source. Choose conversion only when you specifically need WebP, JPG or PNG output.
Responsive sites often place a small thumbnail in the HTML and a larger source in a srcset attribute or linked page. Imageye can identify an original URL when the site makes it available, but it cannot manufacture a higher-resolution file.
Download All Images: Firefox coverage beyond rendered images
Download All Images is the stronger Firefox choice when a page’s visible pictures are only part of the asset set. Its Mozilla Add-ons listing says it can download images from the page, nested iframes, links, background scripts and CSS files. A gallery lets you review the results before saving, and filters can narrow them by file size, dimensions, URL and type.
The listing accessed in 2026 reports 105,798 users. That number is volatile and should not be read as a quality score.

Workflow for difficult pages
- Open the target page in Firefox and wait for its initial content to load.
- Launch Download All Images and allow the scan to complete.
- Review the gallery rather than downloading everything immediately. Filter out tiny files, unwanted extensions or URL paths belonging to logos and interface assets.
- Check results from frames, linked files and CSS backgrounds if the page’s visible images are incomplete.
- Save the final selection to your chosen download folder.
Scanning more sources increases coverage but also increases noise. On a site with many decorative backgrounds, a dimension and file-size threshold is usually more useful than a filename search alone.

Website Image Downloader: collect images as a lazy-loaded page changes
Website Image Downloader targets pages where images appear only after scrolling or interaction. It supports automatic collection of newly loaded images, viewport-only collection, lazy-loaded sites, favorites, sorting and filtering, and subfolder organization.
The Mozilla listing accessed in 2026 reports 876 users. The small user count is a volatile store statistic, not evidence that the extension cannot work on your site.
Collect a scrolling feed
- Open the feed in Firefox and launch Website Image Downloader.
- Enable automatic collection if you want newly loaded images added as you scroll.
- Scroll in measured sections, waiting for each batch to load. If the page uses an intersection observer, images outside the viewport may not exist until you do this.
- Use favorites and sorting to mark the files you want, then apply type, URL or dimension filters.
- Save into subfolders when the feed contains multiple subjects or dates.
Viewport-only collection is useful when you want exactly what appeared on screen, but it will not discover content that remained outside the viewport.
SingleFile: when you need the page, not a folder of images
SingleFile is a preservation tool rather than a bulk image picker. Its project description says it saves an entire webpage, including resources such as images, stylesheets, fonts and frames, as a single HTML file with one click. It supports Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari and can save to Google Drive, Amazon S3 or WebDAV.
Choose it when layout, text and context matter—for example, archiving a reference page for offline reading. Choose an image downloader when you need independent PNG, JPEG or WebP files for a catalog, dataset or editing workflow. A SingleFile archive is not automatically a license to reuse every embedded image.

How to get full-resolution and lazy-loaded images
First make the browser load the content
- Scroll through an infinite feed slowly enough for each batch to appear.
- Open accordions, galleries or lightboxes that reveal larger sources.
- Wait for network activity to settle before scanning.
- If a page requires a login, remain signed in; an extension generally cannot bypass access controls.
Then filter for likely originals
- Set a minimum width and height that excludes interface icons.
- Inspect URL patterns for thumbnail markers such as size suffixes or CDN transformations.
- Prefer the original URL option when the extension offers it.
- Compare file dimensions in the preview; a visually large thumbnail can still be a small file.
Expect site-specific limits
Some sites draw images into canvas elements, build URLs only after JavaScript runs, protect files behind expiring tokens, or serve different assets by account, region or device. An extension may then show a rendered result, a thumbnail or no downloadable source at all. Do not attempt to defeat a paywall, CAPTCHA or other access control.
Copyright, privacy and responsible downloading
Finding a file is not the same as having permission to copy or publish it. Imageye’s listing warns that downloaded images may be protected. Check the page’s license, the creator’s terms and any stock or editorial restrictions before using an image outside your own private reference collection. Keep attribution and license records with the files when required.
Extensions can inspect page content and may receive URLs, cookies or other browsing data depending on their permissions. Install from the browser’s official add-on store, review requested permissions, and disable or remove an extension you no longer need. Avoid scanning pages containing confidential information unless you understand the extension’s data handling.
Organizing a large download
For a few dozen files, the browser’s normal Downloads folder is adequate. For hundreds or thousands, create a project folder before saving and use subfolders for source page, date or subject. Preserve the original URL in a text or CSV record when provenance matters. A portable SSD for downloaded image libraries can help when local storage is tight; Samsung’s 2026 product page lists the Portable SSD T7 Shield 1TB with USB 3.2 Gen 2, up to 1,050 MB/s read and 1,000 MB/s write, and IP65 water resistance. Those are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee of your computer’s real transfer speed.
Troubleshooting common failures
The extension finds only thumbnails
Scroll and open the site’s image viewer first, then rescan. Use an original-URL or larger-dimension filter if available. If the site never exposes a larger asset, the extension cannot retrieve one.

Lazy-loaded images are missing
Use Website Image Downloader’s automatic collection, or scroll the entire page before scanning with another extension. Wait for each image batch to finish loading.

Raise minimum width, height or file size, and filter URL paths associated with the content area. Review the gallery before saving.
Images from an iframe do not appear
Use Download All Images in Firefox, which explicitly searches nested iframes. If the frame is cross-origin or access-controlled, browser security may still prevent discovery.
Downloads fail or produce forbidden responses
The server may require a session, referer, signed URL or permission. Confirm that you can open the image in the same browser session. Do not try to circumvent the site’s controls.
The saved page looks incomplete
Use SingleFile after the page has fully loaded, including lazy content. A single HTML archive is different from a directory of source image files.
