In Microsoft Edge, open the page, select Settings and more (the three-dot menu), choose Screenshot—called Web Capture in older releases—then choose Capture full page. Use the save control and select PNG if Edge offers a format choice. For only part of a page, choose the area-capture option and drag around it.
Save an entire webpage as a PNG in Edge
- Open the webpage in Microsoft Edge and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Select the three-dot Settings and more menu in the upper-right corner.
- Select Screenshot. Older Edge versions may label this command Web Capture; Microsoft identifies Screenshot as the feature formerly named Web Capture.
- Choose Capture full page. Edge captures content below the visible viewport, not just the portion currently on screen.
- In the preview, select the save control. If a format selector appears, choose PNG, select a folder, name the file, and save it.
- Open the saved file and check the top, bottom, images, and any important interactive content before sharing it.
Microsoft describes Screenshot as a tool that lets you copy or save the image. Its feature description does not guarantee that every Edge release exposes PNG as the default or as a selectable format. If the save dialog offers only another image format, save it and convert it to PNG with an image editor, or use an Edge extension that explicitly exports PNG.
Capture only part of a page
Open Screenshot (or Web Capture), choose the area-capture mode, and drag over the region you want. This is useful for a chart, product card, error message, or a section that would be awkward to crop from a full-page image. Save the resulting image and select PNG when the dialog permits it.
When area capture is better
- You need a fixed visual region rather than a long document.
- The page contains a sticky header or chat control that you do not want in the image.
- You want a smaller file for email, documentation, or a bug report.
Where to find Screenshot when the menu label is different
Edge labels change slightly between releases. If you do not see Screenshot, open Settings and more and use the menu’s search field for “Screenshot.” On some versions, the command is available from the page’s context menu. If your organization manages Edge, an administrator may also restrict browser features.

Microsoft does not guarantee one universal keyboard shortcut for current releases, so use the menu or the command search rather than relying on a shortcut that may not exist in your build.
Make sure the result is really a PNG
Check the filename and file properties
After saving, confirm that the filename ends in .png. On Windows, right-click the file, choose Properties, and check the file type. An extension alone can be misleading if extensions are hidden or manually changed; opening the file in an editor that reports its format is a safer check.
Convert when Edge does not offer PNG
Open the capture in Paint, Photos, Preview, or another image editor and use Save as or Export to choose PNG. Conversion does not restore content that was never captured, so inspect the original screenshot first.
Use an Edge extension when repeatable PNG export matters
An Edge Add-on such as PageSaver advertises full-page capture with export to PNG, JPG, GIF, or ICO. Extensions require installation and permissions, so review the publisher, requested access, and your organization’s policy before installing one. The built-in Screenshot tool is the simplest first choice.

Handling lazy-loaded, embedded, and dynamic content
Full-page screenshots are not guaranteed to look exactly like a manually scrolled page. A site may load images only when they approach the viewport, use an embedded frame, append content while you scroll, or display a cookie dialog, animation, or chat widget at capture time.
Before capturing
- Wait for the page’s main content and images to finish loading.
- Dismiss consent dialogs or sign in if the content requires your account.
- Scroll through the page once when images are lazy-loaded, then return to the top and capture again.
- For an infinite-scrolling feed, stop loading at the point you need; there may be no stable “full page.”
- Pause videos or animations when a particular frame matters.
After capturing
Check the bottom edge, image placeholders, embedded frames, and text that changes after load. If a section is missing, capture that section separately with area capture or use the site’s print/export feature. Do not assume a successful save means every resource rendered correctly.
Developer-tools full-size screenshot
For an advanced workflow, open Edge Developer Tools, open the command menu, and run Capture a full size screenshot. This is separate from the normal Screenshot menu and is useful when you already work in DevTools. The same practical caveats apply: verify lazy-loaded content, frames, and dynamic sections, and confirm the output format after saving.
Troubleshooting Edge webpage-to-PNG captures
Screenshot or Web Capture is missing
Use the three-dot menu’s command search for “Screenshot.” Update Edge if your organization permits updates, and check the page context menu. Managed devices may hide or disable commands.

The image contains only the visible screen
You selected area capture or used Snipping Tool. Reopen Screenshot and choose Capture full page. If the page is an application with a scrollable panel inside the page, that panel may not be treated as the document’s main scroll area; capture the panel separately.
There is no PNG option
Edge’s cited feature text confirms saving an image but not a universal PNG selector. Save the available image and export it as PNG in an editor, or install a reputable extension that advertises PNG output.
The bottom of the page is blank or cut off
Reload, wait for network activity to settle, and try again. Scroll through the page first to trigger lazy loading. For infinite-scroll or script-heavy pages, capture stable sections individually.
Images or an embedded frame are missing
Check whether the resource is blocked, requires a login, or is hosted in a cross-origin frame. Allow the page to finish loading, authenticate where appropriate, and capture the frame or section separately if full-page stitching cannot include it.

The file is unexpectedly large
PNG preserves detail but can be large, especially for very long pages. Use area capture for a smaller scope, or keep a JPEG copy for casual sharing while retaining PNG when lossless text and graphics are required.
