Short answer: The League and Raya are both selective services, but they are built around different experiences. The League emphasizes a scheduled, curated daily Batch, profile and career verification, and tiered discovery tools. Raya presents itself as a private community for dating, networking, and friendship, with applications reviewed before a member can subscribe. Neither service has published comparable independent evidence proving better dating results. Your best choice depends on whether you prefer structured daily matching or a private, broader social community; whether the app is active in your city; your phone platform; and the price shown in your account.
Features, admission rules, prices, and availability can change. Check the current app and local storefront before applying or paying.

1. The League: structured, scheduled matching
How matching works
The League says every member receives a Batch of potential matches at “happy hour,” 5 p.m. local time. Profiles are prioritized using preferences and compatibility signals. The number of profiles primarily reflects your subscription tier, but local community size and your preferences also matter. A larger paid allowance therefore cannot create candidates who are not active in your area.

Who may prefer it
- People who like a predictable daily review rather than an endless swipe feed.
- Daters who want education or profession information to be part of the profile, while retaining controls over whether imported details appear.
- Users who may benefit from search, video profiles, Tickets, statistics, or human-supported Concierge on eligible tiers.
Application and waitlist
Everyone who applies starts on The League waitlist. The company says member reviewers assess applications and that waits can range from hours to weeks or longer. Its support article says Unlimited can skip the waitlist, while endorsements or Golden Tickets can affect queue position. These statements do not establish an acceptance probability or guarantee a particular timeline.
Verification, privacy, and safety
LinkedIn is the preferred verification route for free access, with work-email, education-email, and Doximity alternatives. The FAQ says you can control the display of imported education and professional information. It also describes sharing information with Match Group affiliates for operation, safety, and personalization, and automated tools that scan messages and video calls for indications of harmful or illegal behavior. Review the current privacy policy and settings for your jurisdiction before uploading professional data.
Membership value and company claims
Paid tiers advertise additional discovery, Search, video profiles, chat, League Tickets, statistics, and Concierge. Human-supported Concierge is described for Unlimited and Omni; some automated insights are available only in selected markets. The membership page claims subscribers have “2x-5x the match rate of non-subscribers.” That is a company marketing claim, not an independently verified causal result or personal guarantee. The FAQ also reports that over half of members attended top-40 colleges, 30% have advanced degrees, and a quarter hold Executive or Director roles; the figures are company-reported, with no publication year or independent audit stated.

Improving an application
The League says applications with six photos are “2x more likely to get approved.” Treat that as the company’s claim rather than a measured guarantee. Its practical guidance is to use a clear, natural first photo, add varied images, complete the profile, and avoid heavy filters, poor lighting, and mirror selfies.
2. Raya: a private, multi-purpose community
How Raya describes itself
Raya’s official listing calls it “a private community where people come to connect for dating, networking, and friendship.” That broader purpose distinguishes it from a service marketed primarily around a daily dating Batch. The reviewed materials do not establish that Raya produces better dates, more relationships, or a higher-quality pool than The League.
Application and acceptance
Applicants enter a queue that is reviewed continually. Raya says an application can move from waitlisted to accepted at any time. Acceptance is not the same as a free trial: accepted members can purchase a membership to access the full service. No reviewed source supplies an acceptance rate or reliable waiting-time estimate, so be wary of promises that a particular profile will be approved quickly.
Rank #3
Membership and price
The official US App Store listing checked on September 29, 2026 displayed one-month Membership at $24.99 and Raya+ Membership at $49.99, alongside other optional purchases. The listing also describes one-, six-, and twelve-month auto-renewing membership options. Storefront, account, tax, promotion, and regional differences can change the amount you see; confirm the exact renewal terms in the purchase screen.
Platform limits and local fit
The listing specifies iPhone-only access and requires iOS 17.0 or later. It describes Raya as a global service, but the reviewed source does not document active-member counts for individual cities. If you are considering a move or travel use, check whether the community in your intended location is active enough for your goals before paying for a long term.
Privacy and verification questions
The cited Raya listing does not provide a privacy-policy comparison equivalent to The League’s FAQ. Before applying, read Raya’s current privacy, identity, reporting, blocking, and data-retention terms in the app or its linked policy. Do not assume that The League’s professional verification or automated safety practices apply to Raya.

Which app should you choose?
Choose The League when…
- You want a defined 5 p.m. matching routine and a limited set of curated profiles.
- Your city has a substantial League community and you value search, video, Tickets, or Concierge tools.
- You are comfortable with professional or education verification and the associated data-sharing disclosures.
- You prefer an application process that explicitly offers profile-improvement guidance and a paid waitlist-bypass option.
Choose Raya when…
- You want one private community spanning dating, networking, and friendship.
- You use an iPhone running iOS 17 or later and accept an application queue with no stated timeline.
- You have been accepted and the membership term and renewal price shown in your account fit your budget.
- You value privacy and community access but are willing to inspect the current policy rather than rely on assumptions about verification.
Pause before paying either service when…
- Your target city has few active members or the app is unavailable on your device.
- You are expecting a guaranteed acceptance date, match rate, or relationship outcome.
- The displayed price, renewal cadence, or cancellation path is unclear.
- You have not reviewed reporting, blocking, privacy, and data-sharing controls.
A practical decision process
- Check eligibility and platform. Confirm your city, age eligibility, operating system, and current app-store availability.
- Inspect the real local pool. Ask what the service can show in your location; a national reputation does not prove local activity.
- Compare the access friction. The League starts everyone on a waitlist and describes an Unlimited bypass; Raya uses a continuously reviewed application queue.
- Compare the feature you will actually use. Do not pay for search, statistics, Concierge, Raya+, or optional purchases unless those tools solve a specific problem for you.
- Read renewal terms. Capture the exact currency, term, auto-renewal setting, cancellation route, and refund rules before confirming payment.
- Prepare a truthful profile. Use recent, varied photos and accurate work or education details; never misrepresent status to pass a review.
- Evaluate results without overinterpreting marketing. Track conversations and dates for your own decision, but do not treat company-reported match-rate or demographic claims as a forecast.
Safety and privacy checklist for either app
- Use a unique password and enable available account-security controls.
- Limit workplace, school, home, and routine-location details until trust develops.
- Keep early conversations in the app and use its block/report tools for harassment, fraud, or coercion.
- For a first meeting, choose a busy public place, tell a friend your plan, arrange your own transport, and leave if behavior feels unsafe.
- Never send money, gift cards, login codes, or intimate images under pressure.
- Read the current privacy policy, retention terms, and data-sharing disclosures before submitting professional identifiers or photos.
What the evidence does—and does not—show
The available official materials document product design, access rules, selected features, and Raya’s storefront prices at a specific time. They do not provide a comparable independent success-rate study, acceptance-rate dataset, satisfaction survey, city-level active-user count, or head-to-head test. Consequently, neither app can honestly be declared the universal winner. A sensible choice is the one whose discovery model, local supply, device support, privacy terms, and visible price match your priorities.
