Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Fastest method: In Safari, open the page, tap Share, choose More and Markup, then tap Done, select Save File To, choose a folder in Files, name the PDF and tap Save. Markup is optional, so you can save immediately without drawing or highlighting.
For a long page, use Safari’s screenshot preview and select Full Page before saving the result as a PDF. The exact labels vary by iPadOS release, but the relevant controls are Share, Options, Markup, Full Page and Save to Files.
Method 1: Save a Safari webpage as a PDF
This route works well for ordinary pages when you want a PDF stored in the Files app.
- Open Safari. Navigate to the webpage you want to preserve and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Open the share sheet. Tap Safari’s Share button.
- Choose Markup. Tap More, then select Markup. Markup opens the webpage as a PDF preview.
- Annotate only if needed. Use the pen, highlighter, shapes or text tools. If you do not need notes, leave the page unchanged.
- Save the file. Tap Done, choose Save File To, enter a filename, select iCloud Drive, On My iPad or another available Files location, and tap Save.
The PDF is now in the folder you selected. Open the Files app, browse to that location and tap the filename to view it. From the same share sheet you can send the PDF to another app or person instead of saving it locally.

Skip annotation when you need a clean copy
Markup does not have to contain drawings or comments. Use it simply as Safari’s PDF export step, then tap Done and save. If you later need to mark up the document, iPadOS can annotate the saved PDF; Apple Pencil (USB-C) is an optional accessory for frequent handwriting, not a requirement for conversion.
Method 2: Use the share sheet’s PDF option
Some iPadOS versions expose a direct PDF format selector instead of requiring the Markup screen.
- Open the page in Safari and tap Share.
- Under the webpage title, tap Options.
- Select PDF, then tap Done.
- Choose Save to Files, select a folder, name the document and tap Save.
If you do not see Options or PDF, use the Markup route. The share-sheet layout and labels differ between iPadOS releases and can also change when extensions are installed.
Method 3: Capture the entire scrollable page
Use Safari’s full-page screenshot when the page extends well beyond the visible screen or when the ordinary export omits content you can reach only by scrolling.

- In Safari, position the page at the section you want to capture and take a screenshot using your iPad’s hardware-button combination.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail that appears briefly.
- At the top of the editor, select Full Page instead of Screen. Safari displays a scrollable preview of the complete page.
- Review the preview. Use the crop controls if you need to remove browser chrome or unrelated sections.
- Tap Done, choose Save PDF to Files, pick a folder and tap Save.
Full Page is designed for content longer than one screen and can produce a multipage PDF. It captures what Safari has rendered; interactive controls, content hidden behind a click and material that never loaded cannot be recovered by the screenshot.
Choosing the right method
| Method | Best for | Coverage | Editing before save | Storage control |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Share → More → Markup | Most webpages and a straightforward PDF export | The webpage Safari exports | Markup tools are available | Choose a Files folder with Save File To |
| Share → Options → PDF | iPadOS versions that expose a direct PDF format choice | The webpage Safari exports | No separate annotation step is required | Choose a Files folder with Save to Files |
| Screenshot → Full Page | Long, scrollable pages or when export controls are missing | The full scrollable page Safari rendered | Screenshot editor and crop tools | Save PDF to Files and choose the destination |
Think of the choice in three ways: coverage (visible content versus the complete scrollable page), editability (plain export versus annotation) and storage control (whether you explicitly choose a Files folder). Start with Markup for a normal page and switch to Full Page when the complete scroll is the priority.
Where the PDF goes after you save it
The PDF goes wherever you select in the Files picker, not automatically to Photos. During Save File To or Save to Files, note the account and folder shown at the top of the picker. Common destinations are:
- iCloud Drive: available on your other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
- On My iPad: stored locally on this iPad until you move or share it.
- A third-party cloud location: appears in Files when its app has enabled a Files location.
To find it later, open Files, tap Browse, choose the same location and folder, then search by the filename if necessary. Long-press the PDF for actions such as Rename, Move, Share or Get Info.

Quality and layout checks before you rely on the PDF
- Check the last page. A long article may continue beyond the first preview screen. In Full Page mode, drag through the preview before saving.
- Confirm images and fonts. Wait for lazy-loaded images, charts and web fonts to finish loading before exporting. If an image is still a blank placeholder, reload and wait, then try again.
- Remove browser clutter. Crop the screenshot preview when the address bar or unrelated page area should not appear in the document.
- Expect responsive reflow. Safari exports the page as rendered for the iPad viewport; a narrow layout can create more pages than a desktop printout.
- Verify annotations. If you used Markup, turn pages in the saved PDF and confirm that highlights, drawings and text are present before deleting the source page.
Troubleshooting
Markup, Options or PDF is missing
Open the share sheet’s More menu and look for Markup. If that is unavailable, inspect the area below the webpage title for Options and PDF. Because labels vary by iPadOS release, use whichever of these paths your device provides; the Full Page screenshot method is a practical fallback.
Full Page does not appear
Make sure the screenshot was taken while Safari was active and that you opened its thumbnail immediately. Full Page is offered for content Safari can treat as a scrollable webpage; if it still does not appear, use Share → Markup or the direct PDF option.
The PDF contains only what was visible
You probably saved a screen capture rather than a full-page capture. Retake the screenshot, open the preview and select Full Page. For the export routes, allow the page to finish loading before opening Share.
The page is cut off or missing images
Return to Safari, reload the page, wait for images and other delayed content, then export again. A page element that requires a click, login or scrolling-triggered load may not be included until you activate it and allow it to render.

The file cannot be found
Open Files → Browse and check the exact location selected in the save picker. Search by the filename, and check both iCloud Drive and On My iPad if you are unsure which destination you chose.
The PDF will not save
Try a shorter filename, select a folder with available space and save again. If a cloud location is temporarily unavailable, choose On My iPad first and move the file later from Files.
Sharing fails after export
Open the saved PDF in Files and use its Share button. This separates conversion from delivery and lets you choose Mail, Messages or another installed app after the file has been created.

For developers who need repeatable captures rather than a one-off iPad export, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API and an MCP server. It can return PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF output. Before capture, it accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be disabled. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.
