For a normal, document-like page, press Ctrl+P (Windows/Linux) or Command+P (Mac), choose Save as PDF, and save. This produces selectable text and conventional pages. If you need the page to look exactly like the screen—including a long dashboard, design, or infographic—capture the entire page as an image first, then print that image to PDF. The sections below cover both workflows on desktop, iPhone/iPad, and Android, plus an automated option.
Choose the right kind of PDF
A browser can create a PDF in two fundamentally different ways. Printing renders the page into document pages; a full-page screenshot preserves the visual arrangement as one long image that can be placed in a PDF container.

Inspect the preview before saving. It reveals clipping, missing backgrounds, and sections that did not render before you commit the file.
Save a webpage as a PDF on a desktop browser
Google Chrome (Windows, Linux, and macOS)
- Open the webpage you want to preserve.
- Choose File > Print, or press Ctrl+P on Windows/Linux or Command+P on Mac.
- In the print window, select the PDF destination (for example, Save as PDF).
- Adjust the available paper, orientation, margins, scale, and page settings.
- Choose Save, select a folder and filename, and open the resulting PDF to verify the pages.
Chrome’s print route is the best first choice when readers must be able to select and copy the text.

Mozilla Firefox
- Open the page and choose Menu > Print.
- In print preview, set Destination to Save to PDF.
- Set orientation, paper size, scale, margins, headers and footers, backgrounds, and page range as needed.
- Review every page in the preview, then save the PDF.
Firefox warns that a webpage can look different on paper than it does on screen. Use the preview to catch a responsive layout that has changed or a column that has been cut off.
Microsoft Edge
- Open the page and choose Settings and more > Print. You can also press Ctrl+P on Windows, Command+P on macOS, or right-click the page and choose Print.
- Open More settings and turn on Background graphics if colored panels, branding, or other design elements are missing.
- Choose the paper, orientation, scale, margins, and page range, inspect the preview, and save.
On supported sites, Immersive Reader can provide a clutter-free version before printing. Edge also lets you print selected text or images rather than the entire page.
Capture an entire scrolling webpage as an image
Edge’s built-in full-page Screenshot
- Open the page in Edge.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S to open Screenshot.
- Choose Capture full page. This includes content below the portion currently visible in the window.
- Save the resulting image.
- Open the saved image and use your operating system’s print-to-PDF command to place it in a PDF file.
Edge describes this tool as capturing a full webpage, including parts you would otherwise have to scroll to see. It is useful when print preview reflows a design or drops an interactive section.

Convert the captured image to PDF
- Open the full-page image in the default image viewer or browser.
- Choose Print.
- Select the system’s PDF destination, such as Save as PDF or Print to PDF.
- Choose portrait or landscape, paper size, scale, and margins. A long image often needs a wider paper size or a reduced scale to avoid clipping.
- Save, then open the PDF and zoom through the entire image to check that the bottom and side edges are present.
This PDF is a container for the screenshot. Text inside it is normally not selectable in the way text from a printed webpage is.

Safari and mobile devices
Safari on macOS
- Open the webpage.
- Choose File > Export as PDF, or choose Print > Save as PDF.
- Choose the filename and destination, then verify the saved document.
Safari on iPhone or iPad
- Open the page and tap the Share button.
- Choose Create PDF (or the route that saves a PDF to Files).
- Pick a folder and filename and tap Save.
Firefox on iOS
- Open the webpage and take a screenshot.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail, then choose Full Page.
- Tap Done and select Save as PDF.
Android browsers
- Open the browser menu while viewing the page.
- Choose Share or Print.
- Select Save as PDF, choose the storage location, and save.
These mobile print routes create a document-style PDF. When you need a visual record of every scrolling section, use a browser’s full-page capture feature where available, then print the saved image to PDF.
Make print output match the screen more closely
Keep backgrounds and color blocks
Backgrounds are commonly omitted by print settings. In Edge, enable Background graphics under More settings. Firefox exposes a backgrounds option in print preview. If a brand color or panel is still absent, switch to a full-page screenshot instead of repeatedly changing print settings.

Prevent clipped columns and tables
Change orientation to landscape, reduce scale, increase the paper size, or adjust margins. Use a page range when only certain sections are needed. Always inspect the preview because a setting that fixes a wide table can make text too small elsewhere.
Handle clutter
Firefox’s simplified format and Edge’s Immersive Reader can remove surrounding navigation on supported pages. They are useful for a readable document, but they intentionally change the original design. Choose a screenshot when preserving that design is the purpose.

Blank areas in a preview can indicate content that had not loaded yet, including lazy-loaded sections. Wait for the page to finish rendering, revisit the preview, and capture the full page as an image if print output continues to omit those sections.

Common problems and fixes
- The PDF contains only the first screen. You used a normal print route or a viewport-only screenshot. Use Edge Screenshot > Capture full page, then print the saved image to PDF.
- Colors, logos, or panels disappeared. Enable Background graphics in Edge or the equivalent backgrounds setting in the print dialog. If the visual result still differs, use a full-page screenshot.
- A table or right-hand column is cut off. In print preview, switch to landscape, reduce scale, change paper size, or reduce margins. Recheck every page before saving.
- Headers, footers, ads, or navigation are unwanted. Try Firefox’s simplified format or Edge Immersive Reader when available. These modes reformat the page; use an image capture if you need the original arrangement without reflow.
- A lazy-loaded section is blank. Let the page finish loading and inspect preview again. A full-page screenshot is the fallback when the print renderer still misses it.
- The PDF is hard to search or copy. That is expected when it was made from a screenshot image. Use Print > Save as PDF for selectable text, or keep both files: a searchable print PDF and a visual screenshot PDF.
- The saved file looks different from the browser tab. Print engines use paper dimensions and responsive breakpoints, so this is normal. Decide whether document semantics or visual fidelity matters, then use the corresponding workflow.
