How to Convert a Webpage to PDF in Chrome on iPhone

On an iPhone, Chrome does not offer the desktop-style Save as PDF command. To turn a webpage into a file, open it in Chrome, choose Share → View more → Print, then use the iOS print preview’s Share control to save the result to Files or another destination. Google documents this as an AirPrint workflow, but a physical printer is not required when you save the generated document through the share sheet.

Before you start

• Use the current Chrome app on an iPhone running iOS 17 or later, the baseline Google currently lists for Chrome on iPhone and iPad (Google Chrome Help).
• Load the complete page and wait for images, menus and other content you need in the PDF.
• Have enough free storage in the Files destination, iCloud Drive or another enabled share extension.

Menu names can change with Chrome and iOS releases. If a control is not visible, expand the share actions with View more or scroll the sheet.

Convert a webpage to PDF in Chrome on iPhone

1. Open the webpage. Start Chrome, enter the URL and wait until the page finishes loading.
2. Open Chrome’s share menu. Tap the Share icon at the top right.
3. Reveal additional actions. Tap View more, shown as a down-arrow or an equivalent expansion control in the share actions.
4. Choose Print. Tap Print. This is Chrome’s documented iPhone route for printing a webpage (Google Chrome Help).
5. Set the output. In the iOS print sheet, select any available paper size, orientation, page range or other options. Preview pages by zooming or swiping, if those controls are shown.
6. Open the output share sheet. Instead of selecting a physical printer, tap the print preview’s Share button. The exact location varies by iOS version.
7. Save the PDF. Choose Save to Files, select a folder, enter a filename and tap Save. You can also choose another destination offered by iOS, such as a cloud-drive extension. Google describes this save-through-sharing behavior in its file and print help (Google Chrome Help).
8. Verify the file. Open the Files app, browse to the chosen folder and open the saved PDF. Check the page count, orientation and important images or tables.

Why Chrome shows Print instead of “Save as PDF”

Chrome on iPhone uses the iOS print and share system rather than the desktop Chrome print dialog. Google’s iPhone instructions therefore document Share → View more → Print, not a separate Save as PDF destination. The available save actions depend on your iOS version, installed apps and enabled share extensions. If Save to Files appears after opening the print preview’s share sheet, it creates a file without requiring a printer.

AirPrint is the system printing path named in Google’s instructions. AirPrint does not mean you must own a printer for this workflow: saving the print result through the share sheet is a digital destination.

What to do when the page is already a PDF or downloadable file

If the link opens an existing PDF or another downloadable document, use Chrome’s file flow rather than printing the webpage. Tap the download or share controls, choose Save to Files or Google Drive, and confirm the filename and folder. If you entered the print flow instead, tap Share at the top right of the print interface, follow the prompts and tap Save when Chrome presents that option (Google Chrome Help).

Page layout and content checks

Choose the right orientation

Portrait is usually best for articles. Landscape can prevent wide tables, dashboards or code blocks from being clipped. Set orientation in the iOS print options before saving; not every page exposes every setting.

Limit the pages

Use a page range when you need only selected pages. Preview the first and last page after saving because responsive webpages can insert blank-looking sections, repeated headers or cookie text.

Expect webpage differences

Print output follows the page’s print styling, not necessarily the screen view. Sticky navigation, animations, videos and interactive widgets may be omitted or reformatted. Expand accordions and load lazy images before choosing Print if their content matters.

Troubleshooting Chrome PDF saves

There is no Print action

Tap View more in the Chrome share actions and scroll the list. If Chrome’s share sheet still looks incomplete, update Chrome and iOS, then retry. Labels and action order can vary by version.

Save to Files is missing

In the print preview, tap the Share button rather than the printer destination. Scroll the iOS share sheet and choose Edit Actions or an equivalent customization control to enable Files if it is disabled. You can select another enabled cloud-drive destination and move the file later.

The preview is blank or incomplete

Return to Chrome, wait for network content and images to finish loading, dismiss overlays and reload the page. A page that requires sign-in, blocks scripts or renders content only after scrolling may not print all of its screen view. Try printing after opening the relevant section.

The PDF is cut off

Change orientation, select a different paper size or reduce the page range. Wide tables may need landscape orientation. If the site supplies a printer-friendly view, use that URL before printing.

The file cannot be found

Open Files and check Browse → On My iPhone, iCloud Drive and the folder selected in the save sheet. Search by the filename. If storage is full, free space and save again.

Chrome or iOS is older than the supported baseline

Google currently lists iOS 17 and up for Chrome on iPhone and iPad. On an older system, controls may differ or the current Chrome release may not install. Update iOS where your device supports it, or use Safari’s built-in route below.

Safari fallback: a direct webpage-to-PDF route

Safari has a separate documented workflow that can be easier when Chrome’s print sheet is inconvenient. Open the page in Safari, tap the Page Menu or Share button, tap Markup, annotate if desired, tap Done, choose Save File To, enter a filename and tap Save. Apple documents this in the iPhone User Guide. This is a Safari-specific path; it does not change Chrome’s documented menu sequence.
