If Full Page is missing after you take an iPhone screenshot, first retry the documented workflow on a long webpage in Safari. Apple’s supported sequence is: take the screenshot, open its preview, tap Full Page, review or crop the capture, then save it as an image in Photos or as a PDF in Files. Apple does not publish a complete app-by-app diagnosis for an absent Full Page control, so you should not assume one specific setting or hardware fault is responsible.

The documented full-page screenshot method

Apple describes full-page capture for content longer than the iPhone display, using an entire webpage in Safari as its example. The control appears in the screenshot-preview editor, not in the Camera or Photos app.

  1. Capture the screen. On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the side button and volume-up button together. On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release the side button and Home button together.
  2. Open the preview. Tap the thumbnail that briefly appears in the lower-left corner. If the thumbnail disappears, take another screenshot and tap it immediately.
  3. Choose Full Page. In the editor, tap Full Page. If the tab is not present, continue with the checks below rather than treating its absence as proof that your iPhone is defective.
  4. Inspect the result. Scroll through the tall preview to make sure the required content was included. Use the crop controls if you need to remove margins or unrelated sections.
  5. Save it. Apple’s guide describes saving a full-page capture as an image in Photos or as a PDF in Files. Select the destination offered by your version of iOS, then complete the save action.

Check the page before you capture

For the clearest test, open a long, ordinary webpage in Safari and let the visible page finish loading. Apple’s explicit example is a webpage, not an arbitrary screen inside every app. If the page is short enough to fit on one display, there may be no additional content for a full-page mode to extend.

What “Full Page” being unavailable actually tells you

Apple’s current user-guide material explains the supported workflow but does not provide an exhaustive list of reasons the control may be missing. It does not establish a universal compatibility promise for every app, embedded browser, document viewer, or custom interface. Therefore, the safest conclusion is limited: the current screen is not presenting the documented Full Page option.

Apple iPhone 14, 128GB, Midnight - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
  • Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
  • The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
  • Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.

Start with Safari because it is the named Apple example. If Safari shows the option on a long webpage but another app does not, that difference is consistent with Apple’s documentation; it is not evidence of a single iPhone setting you can change to force the control everywhere.

Recovery checklist when the control does not appear

1. Repeat the capture and open the editor immediately

The Full Page tab is part of the screenshot editor. If you wait until the thumbnail vanishes, you are no longer looking at that editor. Retake the screenshot and tap the thumbnail as soon as it appears.

2. Test a long Safari webpage

Navigate to a webpage that clearly extends below the first screen, then repeat the Face ID or Home-button sequence. This separates a page or app limitation from a problem with the screenshot gesture itself.

3. Confirm that you are editing the new screenshot

Photos can contain older screenshots, while the Full Page choice belongs to the just-created preview. Make sure the thumbnail you opened is the capture you just made, not an image reopened from your library.

4. Use another screenshot trigger if pressing buttons is difficult

Apple lists Siri, AssistiveTouch, and Back Tap as alternative ways to trigger a screenshot. These methods can help when the physical-button combination is uncomfortable or unreliable. Apple does not say that they make Full Page appear in an app or view where it is otherwise absent, so use them as input alternatives, not as a guaranteed compatibility fix.

5. Account for interface variation

Apple notes that labels and steps can vary with iOS versions, device configuration, and localization. Look for equivalent wording such as a page-level capture option in the screenshot editor, but do not infer that a different label represents a new capability without seeing the actual control.

6. Preserve the content another way if the screenshot editor still lacks the option

If your goal is to keep a Safari page rather than specifically produce a tall image, use Safari’s PDF workflow below. It is a separate documented output path and does not claim to restore the missing Full Page tab.

Save a Safari webpage as a PDF instead

Safari can create a PDF of the webpage even when you cannot use full-page screenshot capture. Apple’s instructions are:

  1. Open the webpage in Safari.

  3. Tap Markup.
  4. Tap Done.
  5. Choose Save File To, enter a filename, select a location, and save.

The result is a PDF suitable for keeping or sharing. It is not the same file type as an image saved from the screenshot editor, and completing these steps does not demonstrate that Full Page should be available in every app.

Route Output Best use Important limitation
Screenshot preview → Full Page Full-page image or PDF, depending on the save choice offered Preserving a long webpage as a visual capture Apple’s example is Safari; availability in other apps is not established
Safari Share → Markup → Save File To PDF Keeping or sharing the webpage as a document This is an alternative output path, not a repair for the missing screenshot control

Common symptoms and practical responses

“I only see the regular screenshot editor”

Retake the screenshot on a long Safari webpage and open the thumbnail immediately. If Full Page remains absent there, Apple’s documentation does not identify a definitive cause; save the page as a PDF instead if that meets your purpose.

“The screenshot stops at the visible screen”

A regular screenshot is expected to contain only the displayed viewport. The additional page content is captured only after selecting Full Page in the preview. If that choice is unavailable, use Safari’s PDF route rather than stitching images and assuming the result is equivalent.

“The PDF or image is missing from the place I expected”

Check which save destination you selected. Apple describes Photos for an image and Files for a PDF. The two formats do not necessarily appear in the same app or folder.

  • There will be no visible cosmetic imperfections when held at an arm’s length.
  • This product is eligible for a replacement or refund within 90 days of receipt if you are not satisfied.

“The button combination does nothing”

Use a quick press-and-release rather than holding the buttons. Face ID models use side plus volume up; Home-button models use side plus Home. If hardware input is inconvenient, Siri, AssistiveTouch, or Back Tap can trigger the screenshot.

“The page looks different after saving”

Webpages can change while they load, and Apple’s documentation does not promise that every dynamic element, embedded view, or app screen will be represented identically in a full-page capture. Compare the saved file with the preview before deleting the original page.

When an automated webpage capture is a better fit

If you are preserving webpages for documentation, QA, publishing, or an automated workflow, a phone screenshot is not always the right tool. ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server: one GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF for a URL. It captures the webpage itself rather than the physical iPhone display.

ScreenshotNeo is particularly useful when repeatability matters. Before capture, it can accept the cookie or consent banner like a visitor and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and each response identifies the page verdict and billing status in X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

You can request full-page captures with lazy images loaded, select one element by CSS selector, set a device preset or custom viewport, use dark mode or retina scale, add custom CSS or JavaScript, click before capture, hide selectors, wait for a selector, delay, or network idle, block ads, trackers, requests, or resource types, and supply headers, cookies, a user agent, Authorization, timezone, or geolocation. Other options include transparent backgrounds, image resizing, a chosen cache TTL, signed links for public image tags, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture for up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API, and an OpenAPI specification. Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work for easier migration.

The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots; the listed tiers are Growth at $15 for 15,000, Pro at $39 for 60,000, Scale at $99 for 250,000, and Business at $249 for 1,000,000. Yearly billing gives two months free, and every feature is available on every plan. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; and the MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account to get the 1,000 monthly screenshots without adding a card.

A reliable decision path

  1. Need a visual capture of a long Safari page? Take the screenshot, open its preview, and select Full Page.
  2. Full Page missing? Repeat on a clearly long Safari webpage and open the preview immediately. Apple does not document a universal fix for an absent control.
  3. Need a document rather than an image? Use Safari’s Share, Markup, and Save File To PDF flow.
  4. Need repeatable, code-driven captures or AI-agent access? Use an automated webpage screenshot service such as ScreenshotNeo instead of relying on a phone gesture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the button names be identical on every iPhone?

Not necessarily. Apple notes that wording and steps can vary with iOS version, device configuration, and localization, so equivalent labels may appear in different places.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does a Safari PDF prove that Full Page has been restored?

No. Safari’s PDF export is a separate documented workflow. It preserves the webpage as a PDF but does not change whether the screenshot editor offers Full Page.
