To save a Google Sheet as a PDF, open it on a computer, choose File > Print, select Selected cells, Current sheet, or Workbook, set the page layout, click Next, and choose a PDF destination in the browser print dialog. Google Sheets does not document a one-click PNG or JPG export for an arbitrary desktop cell range. For an image, capture the prepared range on screen, or export to PDF first and convert the PDF to PNG or JPG.

Export a Google Sheet to PDF
1. Select the content
Open the spreadsheet at sheets.google.com. If the PDF should contain only a range, select those cells first. You can also leave the sheet unselected and choose a complete tab or workbook in the print settings.
2. Open the Sheets print setup
- Choose File > Print.
- In the print-scope menu, choose Selected cells, Current sheet, or Workbook.
- Set Margins, Orientation, Paper size and scaling.
- For a long sheet, choose Set custom page breaks and drag the breaks so tables are not split in awkward places.
- Open Headers & footers when you need page numbers, the sheet name, a title, or repeated frozen rows and columns.
- Click Next.
3. Save from the browser dialog
In Chrome, select a PDF destination in the print dialog and save the file. In Firefox or Safari, Google says the PDF downloads automatically after print setup. Open the resulting file and check every page before sending it; a preview can reveal clipped columns or an unexpected blank page.

Make a Google Sheet fit on one page
“One page” can mean one physical page wide, one page tall, or literally one page total. Those are different goals. Start in File > Print and adjust the following controls in this order:
- Choose Landscape for wide tables; keep Portrait for narrow, tall lists.
- Reduce the margins only as much as your printer or PDF viewer can handle.
- Choose a larger paper size if the recipient supports it.
- Use the scaling control to shrink the sheet until the preview shows the required width or page count.
- Use custom page breaks to prevent a heading from being separated from its table.
Forcing a large sheet onto one page can make text too small to read. If legibility matters more than page count, make it one page wide and allow multiple pages tall. Repeat frozen header rows in Headers & footers so readers can identify columns on later pages.
Capture a Google Sheet as an image
Method 1: Screenshot a visible range
- Select the rows and columns you want to show.
- Resize columns and rows so values, dates and headings are fully visible.
- Set browser or sheet zoom high enough for readable text, while keeping the complete range on screen if possible.
- Hide unnecessary browser and sheet interface elements before capturing.
- Use your operating system’s rectangular screenshot tool to drag around the range.
- Save as PNG for crisp text or JPG when a smaller file is more important.
This method is quickest for a small range. Its resolution is limited by the display and zoom level, so inspect the saved image at 100% before publishing.
Method 2: Export PDF, then convert to PNG or JPG
For a long, wide or print-oriented sheet, use the official File > Print workflow first. Select Selected cells, Current sheet or Workbook, configure paper size, orientation, margins, scaling and page breaks, and save the PDF. Then use an image or PDF utility to render each PDF page as PNG or JPG. Crop or combine pages only after checking that columns, headers and totals survived the conversion.

The PDF route is preferable when the output spans multiple pages because the print settings remain explicit and reproducible. It also avoids trying to create one enormous bitmap that becomes difficult to read or share.
Capture only selected cells
For a clean PDF, select the range before printing and choose Selected cells in the scope menu. For a screenshot, make the same range visible, hide surrounding rows and columns where practical, and capture only the selected block. If the selection is too large for one screen, use PDF export and convert the pages instead of stitching unrelated screenshots manually.

Prepare the sheet for a clean capture
- Remove visual noise: hide helper columns, temporary filters and unrelated tabs or ranges.
- Check formulas: allow calculated values to finish updating before you capture; otherwise a screenshot can show transient blanks.
- Use consistent widths: widen columns until long labels and numbers are not truncated.
- Freeze headings: frozen rows can be repeated in printed output through the headers and footers options.
- Inspect charts and drawings: an object visible on the sheet canvas may appear differently in print preview, so check both views when it matters.
- Choose a sensible scale: readability is more valuable than fitting every column onto one page.

Troubleshooting
Columns are cut off in the PDF
Switch to landscape, reduce margins, choose a larger paper size, or lower the scale. If the table is still unreadable, make it one page wide and allow additional pages vertically. Custom page breaks can keep related columns together.
The PDF contains the wrong content
Return to the print setup and confirm the scope: Selected cells, Current sheet or Workbook. A previous selection can persist, so verify the highlighted range before clicking Next.
Headers disappear on later pages
Freeze the header row or columns in the sheet, then enable repeated frozen rows or columns under Headers & footers. Preview more than the first page before saving.
There is unexpected blank space
Review margins, paper size, scale and custom page breaks. A break placed far beyond the populated range can create an apparently empty page.
The screenshot is blurry
Increase zoom, enlarge the range on screen and capture at the display’s native resolution. For long tables, export to PDF and render the PDF pages instead of enlarging a low-resolution screenshot.
A chart or drawing is missing
Compare the sheet canvas with print preview. If the object is absent from the PDF, capture the visible sheet separately or adjust its placement and print settings before trying again.
