On desktop Firefox, open the page, right-click an empty area and choose Take Screenshot. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS. Select a region, page element, full page, or the visible viewport, then choose Download to save a PNG or Copy to place it on your clipboard.
The fastest way to screenshot a webpage in Firefox
Firefox includes a built-in webpage screenshot tool, so the documented desktop workflow does not require an extension or separate screenshot application. It captures webpage content rather than the browser’s tabs, address bar, or other window chrome.
- Open the webpage in desktop Firefox.
- Right-click an empty part of the page and select Take Screenshot. If that menu is difficult to reach, press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows/Linux or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- Choose Save full page, Save visible, an automatically highlighted page element, or drag around a custom region.
- Choose Download to save a PNG in Firefox’s normal download folder, or choose Copy to paste the image into another application.

Choose exactly what Firefox should capture
Save full page
Save full page captures the document beyond the currently visible viewport, including content you would normally reach by scrolling. Use it for a complete article, a long landing page, or a page you need to archive as one image. Very long or media-heavy pages can take longer to render and may produce a large PNG.

Save visible
Save visible captures only the portion currently displayed inside the webpage area. It is the right choice for a quick status report, a single error message, or anything that fits on screen.
Capture a page element
Move over the page and click an automatically highlighted element to capture that element. This is useful for a card, table, form, image, or paragraph without manually estimating its boundaries.
Drag a custom region
Drag around any rectangular area when you need only part of the page. After selecting, adjust the edges before downloading or copying. A custom region is useful when a page element is not highlighted as expected or when you want to exclude nearby content.
Save or copy the screenshot
Download a PNG file
Click Download in the screenshot controls. Firefox writes the image to its default download folder unless your Firefox download settings ask where to save each file. Open the downloaded PNG with your normal image viewer or attach it to a ticket, document, or message.

Click Copy instead of downloading. The image is placed on the system clipboard, ready to paste into an email, document, chat, graphics editor, or issue tracker. Clipboard contents are temporary; download the PNG when you need a file that can be reopened later.
Add Screenshot to the Firefox toolbar

- Open the Firefox application menu.
- Choose More Tools, then Customize Toolbar.
- Find the Screenshot item and drag it onto the toolbar.
- Click Done.
Click the new toolbar button whenever you need the capture controls.

When full-page captures look wrong
A webpage is not always a static sheet. Lazy-loaded images, animated areas, sticky headers, expanding menus, and content that appears only after interaction can change while Firefox builds a full-page image. Before choosing Save full page, scroll through the page once if you need to trigger content that loads on scroll, close menus, and wait for visible images to finish loading. If a section still cannot be captured cleanly, use a visible or element capture for that section and combine the images in an editor.

A system shortcut generally records the pixels currently displayed on the screen; it does not automatically include the rest of a long webpage.
Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile distinctions
Desktop shortcuts
The Firefox shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows and Linux, and Command+Shift+S on macOS. These instructions apply to desktop Firefox.
Operating-system alternatives
Mozilla’s separate troubleshooting guidance also describes operating-system screenshot alternatives for Windows, iOS, and Android, but the exact steps vary by device and version. On Linux, Mozilla mentions Shutter as a screenshot utility available as a standard package in many distributions. These alternatives capture the displayed screen unless they specifically offer webpage-aware full-page capture, so do not treat them as equivalent to Firefox’s Save full page command.
Firefox on phones and tablets
The desktop context-menu workflow and keyboard shortcuts should not be applied to Firefox for Android or iOS. Device screenshot instructions differ, and the currently documented material does not establish a universal mobile procedure for capturing a complete webpage inside Firefox. Use the current Firefox and device help for your exact operating-system version when mobile capture is required.
Accessibility and keyboard caveat
You can open the screenshot tool from the keyboard shortcut, but Mozilla notes one limitation: moving the screenshot crosshair does not work on Wayland. If you use a Wayland desktop and cannot position the crosshair as expected, try selecting an automatically highlighted element, use the visible-page command, or use your desktop’s screenshot utility instead.

Privacy information Mozilla provides
Mozilla says Firefox Screenshots records interaction data such as using Copy or Save full page. Mozilla also says it does not collect the URL or details of the image captured, and describes settings for disabling the relevant collection. This is Mozilla’s description of its telemetry; it is not an independent audit and does not make claims about what another application may do after you paste or upload the image.
Troubleshooting Firefox screenshots
“Take Screenshot” is missing from the context menu
Right-click an empty part of the webpage rather than a link, image, text selection, or browser control. If the command still is not convenient, use the desktop shortcut or add Screenshot through Menu → More Tools → Customize Toolbar.
The shortcut does nothing
Confirm that Firefox has focus and that you are using the shortcut for your operating system. A desktop utility or another application may already claim the same key combination. Open the Firefox menu and use the context-menu command or toolbar button to verify that the feature itself works.

The capture contains the wrong area
Restart the selection: choose the highlighted element for a precise object, or drag a custom region. For a page-wide result, choose Save full page rather than a region that happens to cover the visible viewport.
Below-the-fold content is missing
Use Save full page. If images or sections load only after scrolling, scroll through the page first, wait for them to appear, then reopen the screenshot tool. Pages that continually change may require several smaller captures.
I cannot find the downloaded file
Check Firefox’s configured download folder and its downloads list. If you need the image immediately in another program, use Copy and paste it there instead of searching for the file.

Wayland crosshair will not move
This is the accessibility limitation Mozilla documents for Wayland. Select an automatically highlighted element, use another capture mode, or use an operating-system screenshot tool.
