A scrolling screenshot captures content below the visible screen as one image. Use your device or browser’s explicit Full Page, Capture more, Long screenshot, or Capture full page command; a normal screenshot records only what is currently visible.
Choose the section for your platform. The labels below follow Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Mozilla documentation, but menus can change with app, operating-system, device, market, or browser version.
Take a full-page screenshot on iPhone
Apple documents the full-page option for content such as a webpage in Safari. It saves the extended capture through the screenshot preview rather than taking multiple separate images.
- Open the webpage or other content.
- Quickly press and release Side + Volume Up. On an iPhone with a Home button, press and release Home + Side.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail when it appears.
- At the top of the preview, select Full Page.
- Review the long preview. Drag the crop handles if you need only part of the page.
- Use the save option. Apple’s documented screenshot flow saves the result to Photos when you use the thumbnail workflow.
The Full Page tab may not appear for every app or type of content. Apple’s example is an entire Safari webpage, so try the page in Safari if another app offers only a screen capture.

Take a scrolling screenshot on Android
Google’s standard Android route is documented for Android 12 and later and for most screens that allow scrolling. Phone makers can change the buttons and appearance.
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Press Power + Volume Down together.
- Tap Capture more at the bottom of the screenshot controls.
- Adjust the crop guidelines to include the additional content you want.
- Save or share the resulting image using the controls shown by your phone.
If Capture more is absent, check the device maker’s support instructions. The documented platform feature is not guaranteed for every app, every scrollable surface, or Android versions older than 12. A screen may scroll normally yet still prevent the system from extending a capture.
Use Chrome’s Long screenshot on Android
Chrome for Android has a separate long-capture path under its Share sheet. This is useful when you specifically want a webpage rendered by Chrome rather than the phone’s general screenshot tool.
- Open the page in Chrome.
- Tap More (the three-dot menu) next to the address bar.
- Choose Share, then tap Long screenshot.
- Drag the crop handles to set the starting and ending points.
- Tap Confirm, then save or share the image from the available destinations.
If Chrome does not show Long screenshot, update Chrome and Android where your device supports updates, then compare the result with the Android Capture more route. Availability can vary by device and version.

- Open the webpage in Edge.
- Open Web Capture from the browser menu, or press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows.
- Select Capture full page.
- Review the generated capture.
- Use markup or copy if needed, then save the image.
Microsoft notes that Web Capture functionality can vary by device, market, and browser version. If the menu item or shortcut behaves differently, open the browser menu and look for the current Web Capture label.
Save a full page in Mozilla Firefox
Firefox’s page tool
- Right-click an empty part of the page. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- Select Take Screenshot.
- Choose Save full page.
- Download the image or copy it to the clipboard.
Firefox DevTools alternative
Firefox DevTools offers a full-page route when you need developer-oriented controls. Enable the full-page screenshot button in the DevTools screenshot toolbar, or open the Web Console and run:
:screenshot --fullpageDevTools can also capture a particular element with its Screenshot Node capability. That is useful when the page is long but you need one article, panel, or component rather than the entire document.

Chrome DevTools is commonly described as having a “Capture full size screenshot” command, but the precise current sequence and output behavior were not established by the official Chrome help material used for this guide. For a documented desktop workflow, use Edge’s Capture full page or Firefox’s Save full page. If you use Chrome DevTools, verify the labels in your installed version instead of assuming that an older menu path still applies.

Why a scrolling screenshot may not work
You captured only the visible area
A standard screenshot ends at the current viewport. After taking it, look for the explicit extension control: Full Page, Capture more, Long screenshot, or Capture full page. Without that second command, no scrolling occurs.
The extension button is missing
Check your operating-system and browser versions first. Android’s documented system flow starts at Android 12, and Edge warns that availability varies by device, market, and browser version. On Android, consult the phone maker’s instructions if the controls differ.

The page stops early or has blank sections
Some apps and web views do not expose a scrollable surface that the capture tool can stitch. Try the page in Safari, Chrome, Edge, or Firefox directly. For very dynamic pages, scroll through the content first so lazy-loaded sections render, then repeat the capture.
The image is too long to use
Set the crop endpoints before saving. Firefox’s full-page preview and Chrome Android’s crop handles let you remove navigation, comments, or unrelated sections. For a single panel, use Firefox DevTools’ element capture where available.
Keyboard shortcuts do nothing
Shortcuts are browser- and operating-system-specific. Use the visible menu instead: Edge Web Capture, Firefox Take Screenshot, or the relevant mobile screenshot controls. On macOS Firefox, use Command rather than Control.

Which format should I use?
Use the format your device or tool offers and choose based on where you will use the image. A very tall capture is convenient for sharing but may be difficult to read or print; crop it to the relevant content before exporting.
