The control appears only when Android and the app expose a supported scrollable surface, so some browsers, embedded pages, and dynamic apps will not offer it.
Which Android screenshot method should you use?

Google’s Android screenshot help says scrolling capture works on Android 12 and up on “most screens that allow you to scroll.” It is a compatibility rule, not a guarantee for every browser or web view.
Take a full webpage screenshot on Android
1. Load and position the page
- Open the webpage in your browser or the app displaying it.
- Wait for the page to finish loading. Expand accordions or trigger lazy-loaded sections that must appear in the image.
- Scroll to the top if you want the screenshot to begin with the page header. A capture started halfway down normally begins at the current viewport.
2. Capture the screen
- Press Power and Volume Down together, then release immediately.
- If the shortcut is unavailable, press and hold Power, then choose Screenshot from the power menu. Google documents both paths in its Android instructions.
3. Extend the screenshot
After the preview appears, tap Capture more. Drag the top and bottom crop guides to include the desired content, then tap Save. You can edit or share from the preview, Google Photos, or your device’s gallery.
On Pixel phones, the button sequence and Capture more control are the same. Google’s Pixel screenshot guidance repeats the Android 12+ and scrollable-screen qualifications.

4. Find the saved file
In Google Photos, open Collections > On this device > Screenshots. On devices without Photos, open Gallery > Albums > Screenshots. The preview’s share button can send the image directly to another app.
Samsung Galaxy: use Scroll Capture
- Open the webpage and take a normal screenshot with Power + Volume Down.
- Tap the Scroll Capture icon in the screenshot toolbar. Samsung describes this as a long screenshot for webpages and articles.
- Keep tapping or holding the scroll control until the required content is included, adjust the crop if offered, and save.
The control is shown only when the current screen can scroll. Samsung’s terminology and toolbar placement vary slightly by One UI version, but the feature is documented in Samsung’s screenshot support page.
Pixel Tablet and Android version requirements
For phones, Google specifies Android 12 or newer for scrolling screenshots. The Pixel Tablet help page specifies Android 14 or newer for scrolling screenshots on that tablet. If Capture more is absent on a Pixel Tablet, check Settings > System > Software update before troubleshooting the browser.
Why “Capture more” or “Scroll Capture” is missing
- Unsupported Android release: Phone scrolling capture is documented for Android 12 and newer; Pixel Tablet support starts at Android 14.
- The surface is not recognized as scrollable: A fixed dashboard, canvas, game, or custom web view may scroll visually without exposing the accessibility surface Android uses for stitching.
- The page has reached its scroll boundary: Try starting at the top and ensure more content exists below the viewport.
- Manufacturer or app restrictions: Banking, streaming, protected-content, and enterprise apps can block screenshots or long capture.
- Dynamic rendering: Infinite feeds, ads, sticky headers, and content that changes while you scroll can produce repeated, missing, or misaligned sections.
- Toolbar timing: The option is on the screenshot preview toolbar; dismissing that preview removes the immediate control.
There is no supported promise that every browser, embedded web view, or dynamically rendered page produces one uninterrupted image. If the control never appears after updating and testing a normal article, use a regular screenshot, a recording, or the desktop method below.

Capture a webpage with desktop Chrome DevTools
This is useful when the Android browser does not expose long capture, or when you need a file containing everything outside the current viewport. Open the page in desktop Chrome, then:
- Open DevTools with More tools > Developer tools (or the keyboard shortcut for your operating system).
- Open the device emulation panel if you want to reproduce a phone-sized viewport.
- Open the DevTools More options menu.
- Select Capture a full size screenshot. Chrome’s Device Mode documentation describes this command as capturing the whole page, including content outside the current viewport.
- Find the downloaded image in your desktop browser’s Downloads folder and move it to your phone or cloud storage if needed.
DevTools captures the desktop browser’s rendered page, not necessarily the exact Android rendering. Compare fonts, responsive breakpoints, logged-in state, cookies, and viewport dimensions when visual fidelity matters.
Alternatives when a long still image is not possible
Take several ordinary screenshots
Use the standard button shortcut at each section, then share the set or join it with an image editor. This avoids the stitching failures common on infinite-scroll pages, but it does not create one continuous file automatically.
Use Android’s built-in gestures and controls
Android.com’s January 20, 2025 guide lists Google Assistant voice capture, Samsung hand-swipe gestures, Pixel gesture-navigation actions, and the Quick Settings Screenshot tile. These are alternatives for viewport screenshots, not replacements for a long capture when the page is unsupported.

Record the screen
Open Quick Settings, tap Screen record, choose audio and whether to show touch indicators, then start scrolling. Android’s official guidance covers the recording controls. A video is preferable for animations, menus, or a process that a reader must replay; it is not a substitute when you need a printable still image.

Practical quality and reliability checks
- Start position: Begin at the page top for a true whole-page image; otherwise the capture may omit the header.
- Lazy content: Scroll through the page once before capturing if images load only when near the viewport.
- Sticky elements: Fixed navigation bars can repeat at every stitched segment. Hide them with page controls, reader mode, or a CSS-based capture tool.
- Consent and overlays: Dismiss cookie dialogs, newsletter prompts, and chat bubbles before taking an on-device screenshot.
- Very tall pages: A long bitmap consumes substantial storage and may exceed an app’s share or editor limits. Capture sections or use a PDF when the destination is a document workflow.
- Changing pages: Live feeds, rotating ads, and personalized content can differ between segments; pause updates where possible.
- Privacy: Check the URL, visible account information, notifications, and sensitive data before sharing.
Troubleshooting checklist
The screenshot shortcut does nothing
Press both buttons briefly and simultaneously. Remove a tight case that prevents one button from registering, try the Power-menu Screenshot command, and check whether an administrator policy blocks screenshots.

The result stops after one screen
Confirm Android 12+ (or Pixel Tablet Android 14+), start on a page that scrolls normally, and try the browser’s main document rather than an embedded frame. If the option is still absent, the app does not expose a supported scrollable surface.
The long image has gaps or repeated sections
Wait for images and ads to settle, disable auto-refreshing content, and capture a shorter range. Sticky headers and infinite-scroll feeds are frequent causes; separate viewport screenshots may be more accurate.
The file cannot be found
Check Photos > Collections > On this device > Screenshots, or Gallery > Albums > Screenshots. If you edited or shared from the preview, look in the destination app as well.

Use desktop Chrome’s device emulation and open the DevTools More options menu. The command applies to the inspected page, not an Android phone’s current screen; refresh the page if DevTools attached after navigation.

Can I capture a whole webpage in Chrome on Android without an app?

Does a scrolling screenshot include content below an infinite feed?
Not reliably. Android can extend a supported scrollable surface, but content that loads, changes, or reflows while the capture runs may be incomplete or duplicated.
What format does Android save?
The built-in screenshot is an image handled by Photos or Gallery. The exact file encoding and compression depend on the device software; use the gallery’s export or edit controls when a particular format is required.

Choose PDF for printing, page ranges, margins, or document sharing. Choose a long image when pixel-level appearance and simple embedding are more important.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I take a scrolling screenshot inside an embedded browser in another app?
Only if that app exposes a compatible scrollable surface to Android. If its web view does not, the long-capture control may not appear; use ordinary screenshots, desktop Chrome, or an API capture instead.
Why is my Pixel Tablet missing Capture more even though my phone has it?
Google specifies scrolling screenshots on Pixel Tablet for Android 14 and newer. Check the tablet’s Android version and install available updates.
Where should I look if Screenshots is not visible in Google Photos?
Open Collections, choose On this device, and select Screenshots. On older devices, use Gallery and open the Screenshots album.
