The fastest method depends on your browser and device: Firefox and Microsoft Edge open a screenshot tool directly, Chrome opens DevTools’ command menu, and iPhone uses hardware buttons followed by Full Page.
Use the shortcut for your browser below, then choose the full-page command when it appears. A full-page capture includes content below the visible viewport, not just what is currently on screen.

Browser labels and availability can change with browser versions, device type and market. If a shortcut does nothing, open the browser menu and look for its screenshot or capture command.
Firefox: save the entire page
Windows and Linux
- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + S.
- When the screenshot interface opens, select Save full page.
- Review the preview, then download the image or copy it to the clipboard.
macOS
- Open the page in Firefox.
- Press Command + Shift + S.
- Choose Save full page.
- Download the result or copy it.
Firefox’s capture interface also offers visible-screen and selected-region modes. Choose full page when you need content below the current viewport. If the page uses lazy loading, scroll through it once before capturing so images and other deferred content have a chance to load.

Microsoft Edge: capture full page
- Navigate to the page in Edge.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + S.
- In the Edge Screenshot overlay, select Capture full page.
- Use the overlay’s controls to copy the image or save it.
Edge’s feature is designed to include content below the visible screen. Microsoft notes that functionality can vary by device type, market and browser version, so an older or managed installation may show different controls.
Google Chrome: open DevTools’ command menu
Chrome does not document Ctrl/Command + Shift + P as a one-keystroke full-page capture. It opens DevTools’ Command Menu; you still select the appropriate screenshot command.
- Open the target webpage in Chrome.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + P on Windows or Linux, or Command + Shift + P on macOS.
- Type screenshot in the Command Menu.
- Select the full-page or full-size screenshot command that your Chrome version lists.
- Wait for Chrome to generate the capture and check the downloaded image.
If the results list only area or visible-viewport commands, select the command that explicitly mentions full size. Chrome’s command names and available options can change, so do not assume the shortcut alone captures the whole document.
iPhone: use the Full Page option
iPhone does not provide a keyboard shortcut for this workflow. In Safari, take a normal screenshot first:

- On an iPhone without a Home button, quickly press the side button and volume up together. On models with a Home button, press Home and the side button together.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail that appears.
- Select Full Page.
- Use the share or save controls to keep the long capture.
The Full Page tab is intended for scrollable content such as a webpage in Safari. It is a button-and-menu workflow rather than a keyboard shortcut.
Why a full-page capture may look incomplete
Lazy-loaded images
Many pages request images only as you approach them. Scroll through the page first, wait for images to appear, and then run the capture again. A browser cannot include an asset that never finished loading.
Sticky headers and repeated elements
Fixed navigation bars, chat controls and cookie notices may appear repeatedly or cover content. Dismiss overlays before capturing. If the browser tool cannot remove a fixed element, use a selector-based or scripted capture service.
Very long or interactive pages
Animations, infinite scrolling and content that changes after interaction can produce inconsistent results. Stop the page at the desired point, wait for network activity to settle, and capture a stable state. For an infinite feed, a “full page” may have no natural endpoint.

Restricted or protected pages
Login walls, bot checks and CAPTCHAs may prevent the page from rendering. A screenshot shortcut cannot bypass access controls; sign in normally and verify that you are permitted to capture the content.
Choosing the right workflow
- Use Firefox when you want a direct shortcut followed by a clearly labeled Save full page option.
- Use Edge when its Screenshot overlay is available and you want a direct full-page capture with copy and save controls.
- Use Chrome when you already work in DevTools or need its command-based screenshot options; remember that the command selection is an extra step.
- Use iPhone Full Page for a Safari page captured on the phone itself.
For one-off captures, these built-in tools are usually sufficient. They are less convenient for scheduled jobs, many URLs, repeatable rendering settings or applications that need an API response.

The shortcut opens browser history or another command
Another application or extension may have claimed the key combination. Close conflicting utilities, try a private window, or open the browser’s menu and launch its screenshot tool manually. On macOS, confirm you are using the Command key; on Windows and Linux, use Control.
There is no full-page option
Confirm that you opened the browser’s capture interface rather than the operating system’s ordinary screen snip tool. In Chrome, use the DevTools Command Menu and search for screenshot; the full-size command may be listed under a slightly different label.

Wait for the page to finish loading, scroll through lazy content, disable a temporarily displayed overlay and retry. Check whether the page is an infinite scroll rather than a finite document.

The capture contains a consent banner, popup or chat bubble
Dismiss those elements before using the built-in tool. For repeatable automated captures, use a service that can remove known consent and overlay elements before rendering, or hide the relevant selectors with custom CSS.
The image is unreadably tall
Save a PDF, capture a specific element, or split the page into meaningful sections. An image editor can also resize the result, but reducing dimensions may make text harder to read.
Practical quality checklist
- Confirm the correct URL and page state.
- Sign in if the page requires an authorized session.
- Dismiss cookie notices, newsletters and chat widgets.
- Scroll once to trigger lazy-loaded media.
- Wait for fonts, images and network activity to settle.
- Choose full page rather than visible screen or selected region.
- Open the saved file and inspect the top, middle and bottom.
- For repeated work, record the browser version, viewport and capture settings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Ctrl + Shift + S always take a full-page screenshot?
No. In Firefox and Edge it opens a browser screenshot tool, but you must choose Save full page or Capture full page. Other software may assign the same shortcut to a different action.
Can Chrome capture a full webpage without an extension?
Chrome’s built-in DevTools can provide screenshot commands. Open the Command Menu with Ctrl/Command + Shift + P, search for screenshot, and select the full-size command shown by your version.
Is an iPhone Full Page screenshot an image?
The iPhone workflow starts with a screenshot and then offers Full Page for supported scrollable content. Use the available save or share controls; the exact export behavior can depend on the app and iOS version.
