To capture content beyond what fits on your display, use the built-in full-page option in Firefox or Microsoft Edge for a webpage, Android’s scrolling screenshot on a supported phone, or Full Page on an iPhone. These methods differ: browser tools are intended for webpages, while phone scrolling capture may work in other scrollable apps. If you need a desktop application captured as it scrolls, try a utility that specifically supports that application.
First, identify what you are capturing
The right method depends on both your device and the content. A webpage open in a browser is not the same as a long conversation, document, or settings screen inside an app. Browser full-page tools can capture a webpage beyond the visible area; support for scrolling capture in desktop apps varies by application and utility.
- Webpage on a computer: Start with Firefox or Edge’s built-in full-page capture.
- Scrollable screen on a phone: Use the phone’s scrolling or Full Page option if it appears.
- Desktop application or unsupported page: Consider a scrolling-capture utility, and check that it supports the specific app.
- Need a document rather than one tall image: Choose PDF when the device offers it, especially if you want to print or read the result page by page.
Capture a full webpage in Firefox
Firefox’s built-in Screenshots feature can save the visible area, a selected region, an automatically highlighted page element, or the full webpage. To capture beyond the screen:
- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Right-click an empty area of the page and choose Take Screenshot. Alternatively, open the screenshot interface with Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- Choose Save full page.
- Choose Download to save an image, or Copy to place it on the clipboard.
Firefox’s choices are useful when you do not need the entire page: select a region or page element instead of saving a full-page capture. Mozilla’s help page, updated June 15, 2026, says Firefox Screenshots collects interaction events such as using Copy or Save full page, but not the URL or details of the image captured. Capture a full webpage in Microsoft Edge
Edge’s Screenshot tool includes a full-page option for webpage content beyond the visible screen. Use Ctrl+Shift+S to open the tool, or open the feature through Edge, then choose Capture full page. You can mark up the capture before copying or saving it. The exact controls may vary with Edge’s interface; Microsoft’s feature page describes the full-page capability at Microsoft Edge Screenshot Tool.
If the target is an app window rather than a webpage, this browser feature is not a general-purpose scrolling capture tool. Use an application-specific option or a utility that supports the app instead.
Take a scrolling screenshot on Android
Android’s scrolling screenshot feature is available on devices running Android 12 and later on most screens that allow scrolling. It is not guaranteed on every handset or in every app. The labels and button arrangement can differ by device maker.

- Open the screen you want to capture and take a screenshot using your phone’s normal method.
- When the screenshot preview or controls appear, look for a control such as Capture more or a scrolling-screenshot option, if available.
- Extend the capture to include the additional content. The control may let you move the endpoint or continue scrolling.
- Save the result using the screenshot controls.
If no scrolling option appears, the current screen or device may not support it. Google recommends checking the phone manufacturer’s support information if the standard screenshot steps do not work. See Google Android Help: Take a screenshot or record your screen.

On Xiaomi devices covered by Xiaomi’s instructions, take a screenshot, tap Scroll, scroll or wait for automatic scrolling to choose the endpoint, tap DONE, then save. Xiaomi notes that Gallery Editor permissions may be needed to view and save the result. These labels and steps are specific to the documented Xiaomi workflow, not universal Android controls. Take a full-page screenshot on iPhone
Apple’s iPhone guide documents a Full Page option for content beyond the screen, including an entire webpage in Safari. First take a screenshot: quickly press the side button and volume-up button together, or, on a model with a Home button, press the side button and Home button together. Open the screenshot controls, then:

- Tap Full Page if the option is available for the content you captured.
- Crop or annotate the result if needed.
- Save it to Photos, or use the documented PDF option to save a full-page screenshot to Files.
Apple’s instructions and available save choices are documented in Apple Support: Take a screenshot on iPhone. A PDF is often a better choice than a very tall image when you want page-by-page reading, printing, or a document-style result.
When a desktop app or page will not capture correctly
If a built-in browser capture does not apply, or a long desktop app screen is the target, use a scrolling-capture utility only after checking its compatibility with the application and operating system. Tool support is specific, not universal.
TechSmith’s Snagit support documentation covers scrolling capture and troubleshooting. For website capture problems, it suggests making the application window larger and trying another browser. Those are practical checks when the capture stops early or fails, but they do not guarantee that every site or application can be captured. Zight’s help article describes scrolling screenshots for long pages or applications, but its stated macOS feature currently works in Chrome, with support for other applications still being expanded. Troubleshooting: why the capture is incomplete or missing
- You cannot find the full-page option in a browser: Confirm that the target is open as a webpage in Firefox or Edge, then open that browser’s screenshot tool. A desktop app window is not the same target.
- The phone screenshot stops at the visible screen: Look for the scrolling or capture-more control immediately after taking the screenshot. If it is absent, the current screen or handset may not support scrolling capture; Android’s feature is for Android 12 and later on most, not all, scrollable screens.
- The capture stops partway down a website: For Snagit website capture, TechSmith suggests enlarging the application window and trying another browser. If the issue persists, check the utility’s own compatibility and support guidance.
- You need a long app screen on macOS: Check the utility’s current app support. Zight’s described macOS scrolling feature is currently for Chrome, not proof of support across all applications.
- You can see a saved phone capture but cannot open or save it: On the Xiaomi workflow, check whether Gallery Editor has the permissions Xiaomi says may be needed.
- The result is awkward to print or read: Prefer a PDF when the capture tool offers one; Apple documents a full-page iPhone screenshot saved to Files as PDF.
