For most buyers, the Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition 14 is the best conventional 2-in-1 laptop tested for 2026. It combines a premium OLED screen, pen support, strong productivity performance, good battery life, and a keyboard that stays attached when you use it on your lap.

If your priorities are different, the shortlist changes: the Asus Zenbook Duo (2026) is the most compelling dual-screen productivity machine; the HP OmniBook X Flip 14 is the value-oriented pick; the Microsoft Surface Pro 11th Edition is the best tablet-first option; the Asus ProArt GoPro Edition PX13 is the creator choice; and the Asus ROG Flow Z13 is the gaming-focused alternative.

This guide covers two different kinds of 2-in-1. A 360-degree convertible keeps its keyboard attached and folds into laptop, tent, stand, or tablet positions. A detachable such as the Surface Pro is fundamentally a tablet with a removable keyboard. Convertibles are usually better for stable lap typing, while detachables are lighter and more natural to hold as tablets—but the keyboard and pen may cost extra.

Testing note: The performance and battery results below are reported measurements from Tom’s Guide and RTINGS, not tests conducted by this publication. Tom’s Guide evaluates CPU, GPU, RAM, battery life, brightness, color quality, touch response, and stylus response. Its battery test sets the display to 150 nits and repeatedly browses the web over Wi-Fi. RTINGS says it purchases laptops for testing and uses colorimeters, a mechanical test stand, and performance benchmarks.

1. Asus Zenbook Duo (2026): best for dual-screen productivity

The Asus Zenbook Duo (2026) is the most distinctive laptop in this group and the best choice for someone who already knows they want a portable two-screen workstation. Tom’s Guide places it at the top of its current 2-in-1 list, reporting 14 hours 23 minutes in its web-browsing battery test and a research-time starting price of $2,099.

Its defining feature is a pair of 14-inch 3K OLED touch displays. The redesigned hinge lets the screens work in several arrangements, while the detachable Bluetooth keyboard can turn the machine into a more conventional laptop when needed. A two-screen layout is useful for keeping a document, code editor, timeline, reference material, chat window, or monitoring dashboard visible without constantly switching applications.

ASUS identifies the family as the UX8407 and lists configurations with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, up to 32GB of LPDDR5x memory, up to 2TB of PCIe 4.0 storage, Wi-Fi 7, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB-A, HDMI 2.1, and a 99Wh battery. ASUS also lists displays reaching up to 144Hz refresh rate and 1,000 nits of HDR peak brightness. Those are family-level maximums, however; confirm the exact panel and processor on the configuration being considered.

Why buy it: It is the strongest fit for professionals who genuinely benefit from two screens, creators who need simultaneous canvases or timelines, and users willing to pay for an unusual but flexible workstation.

Why not: It is more expensive, heavier, and more mechanically complex than a normal convertible. The keyboard and display arrangement does not behave exactly like a standard laptop, and the port selection is comparatively limited for a productivity machine. It is a poor value if you mostly write documents, browse, or watch video on one screen.

Before buying, verify whether the specific package includes every keyboard component you expect and whether your desk setup needs a USB-C Thunderbolt 4 dock. The dock is not a substitute for checking the Zenbook Duo’s physical port layout, but it can make a dual-screen laptop easier to use with external monitors, storage, and peripherals.

2. Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition 14: best conventional premium convertible

The Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition 14 is the safest recommendation for buyers who want one polished Windows computer that can become a tablet without giving up normal laptop ergonomics. RTINGS names the 2025 model its best tested 2-in-1, while Tom’s Guide also places it among the strongest options.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This is a traditional 360-degree convertible: the keyboard remains attached as the display folds through laptop, tent, stand, and tablet positions. That makes it more stable than a detachable when typing on a lap, and it avoids the need to find or carry a separate keyboard. Its hinge-integrated speakers, OLED display options, pen support, and general productivity performance make it a particularly well-rounded premium machine.

Battery results are strong but should be labeled by test method. RTINGS reports approximately 13 hours of light use and approximately 15 hours of local video playback. Tom’s Guide recorded 12 hours 47 minutes in its own web-browsing test. These results point to good endurance, not to a guaranteed real-world runtime for every owner.

For a cited Lenovo U.S. configuration, the listed hardware includes an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor, integrated Intel Arc 140V graphics, 32GB of LPDDR5X memory, a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, Wi-Fi 7, a 5MP infrared camera, and a 14-inch 2.8K 120Hz OLED touch display with up to 1,100 nits HDR peak brightness. That configuration also lists a Lenovo Linear Pen.

Important generation warning: RTINGS labels its recommendation Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition 14 (2025), while Lenovo’s current U.S. pages also expose a Gen 11 Aura Edition configuration. Treat those as separate generations unless Lenovo or the retailer explicitly confirms that they are equivalent. Memory, storage, operating system, display, and pen bundles can all vary.

Why buy it: Choose the Yoga 9i if you want the best balance of laptop comfort, tablet flexibility, display quality, speakers, pen support, and battery life in a conventional premium convertible.

Why not: Retail availability can be inconsistent, and a stylus is not guaranteed in every regional or retailer configuration. Check the exact model number and included accessories rather than assuming every Yoga 9i listing is the same.

3. HP OmniBook X Flip 14: best value-oriented 2-in-1

The HP OmniBook X Flip 14 is the value pick in Tom’s Guide’s comparison. It aims to provide a premium-looking 360-degree convertible and current features at a lower price position than flagship alternatives. It is the model to consider when the flexibility of a touch display and folding hinge matters more than having the fastest processor or most luxurious screen and speakers.

Tom’s Guide tested an Intel Core Ultra 5 226V configuration. That unit scored below the Zenbook Duo and Yoga 9i in the outlet’s listed Geekbench results and lasted 8 hours 32 minutes in its web-browsing test. The important conclusion is not that the OmniBook is unusable or universally slow; it is that the value proposition comes from the overall design and price position rather than class-leading performance or endurance.

HP’s 14-kb0000 series is identified as a January 2026 product family with several processor options, including Core Ultra 9 386H, Core Ultra 7 356H, Core Ultra 7 355, and Core Ultra 5 325. HP also lists 16GB, 24GB, or 32GB of onboard memory and 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB SSD choices. HP warns that configurations differ by country and region.

That range is wide enough to change the buying decision. A higher-end configuration may perform substantially differently from the Core Ultra 5 unit tested by Tom’s Guide, while a lower-cost configuration may have a different display or storage capacity. Identify the exact processor, memory, screen, operating system, and included pen before comparing it with the Yoga 9i.

Why buy it: It suits students, home users, and general productivity buyers who want a touch display and 360-degree hinge without paying flagship pricing.

Why not: It is not the first choice for demanding sustained workloads, serious gaming, or buyers who care most about the best OLED panel, speakers, or battery result. The name alone does not identify a single performance level.

4. Microsoft Surface Pro 11th Edition: best detachable tablet-laptop hybrid

The Microsoft Surface Pro 11th Edition is the clearest choice here for someone who wants a tablet first and a laptop second. Unlike the Yoga and HP, it does not have a permanently attached keyboard. The tablet can be used independently, reducing the weight and bulk you hold in your hands, and a compatible keyboard can be attached when you need to type.

RTINGS specifically separates the Surface Pro from hinged convertibles for this reason. Microsoft documents support for Surface Pro keyboards, the Surface Pro Flex Keyboard, Windows 11, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and Surface Slim Pen 2 compatibility. Certain keyboard versions include integrated storage and charging for the pen.

The practical cost is different from the advertised tablet cost. A laptop-ready Surface Pro setup may require the tablet, a keyboard, and possibly a pen. Microsoft lists compatible keyboard families, but the pen may be sold separately and inclusion varies by package. Compare the complete bundle—not just the tablet—against a similarly equipped convertible.

The other major consideration is the processor platform. Snapdragon-based Surface Pro models run Windows on Arm. That can provide excellent portability and battery efficiency, but buyers should verify compatibility with specialized Windows software, older peripherals, drivers, plug-ins, and games before purchasing. Emulation does not guarantee that every application or accessory will behave as it does on an x86 Windows laptop. Tom’s Guide specifically does not regard Snapdragon Surface Pro models as the preferred choice for gaming compared with x86 gaming-oriented alternatives.

HP 14 2-in-1 Chromebook 14in FHD Intel CPU 4GB 64GB Storage (14b-Renewed)
  • 14" fhd ips touchscreen display with 360 flip; Intel 4k graphics
  • Intel n100 processor 4-core up to 3.40ghz, 4gb ddr5 ram, 64gb storage
  • 1x usb type c, 1x usb type a, 1x headphone microphone jack,
  • Super fast 6th gen wifi and bluetooth 5, 720p webcam with integrated dual array digital microphones
  • Chrome os, serenity blue color, ac charger included

Why buy it: Pick the Surface Pro when low tablet weight, pen use, portability, and a removable keyboard matter more than the most stable lap-typing experience.

Why not: It may cost more once the keyboard and pen are added, and it is a less certain choice for specialized x86 software, older hardware, and PC gaming. A detachable keyboard can also be less comfortable on a lap than the rigid base of a conventional laptop.

For a complete setup, verify the exact generation before ordering a Surface Pro Flex Keyboard or Surface Slim Pen 2. Compatibility and pen-storage features differ across Surface accessories.

5. Asus ProArt GoPro Edition PX13: best high-performance creator convertible

The Asus ProArt GoPro Edition PX13 is a specialist recommendation for creators who need more performance than a thin integrated-graphics convertible usually provides. Tom’s Guide tested a configuration with an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, recorded a Geekbench 6 multi-core result of 18,407, and measured 11 hours 12 minutes in its web-browsing battery test.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That combination makes it relevant for demanding photo, video, design, and other creator workflows that benefit from stronger CPU and graphics capability. It should not, however, be treated as the default winner for every creative buyer. Performance-oriented hardware typically brings trade-offs in price, weight, heat, fan noise, and comfort when the computer is being held as a tablet.

Why buy it: Choose it when creative performance is the priority and you still want a convertible form factor for reviewing, presenting, sketching, or occasional tablet use.

Why not: It is a specialized machine rather than the lightest or most comfortable tablet. Confirm the exact GoPro Edition configuration and regional availability, because Tom’s Guide’s performance figures apply to the tested configuration rather than to every PX13 listing.

6. Asus ROG Flow Z13: best for gaming-oriented 2-in-1 use

The Asus ROG Flow Z13 is the gaming-focused option in this group. Tom’s Guide reports a 7 hours 30 minutes web-browsing result and places it below the other principal picks for battery endurance. Its AMD platform provides strong integrated-graphics capability, making it the most relevant recommendation for someone who explicitly wants a tablet-like gaming machine.

The design makes sense for a narrower audience: a gamer who wants a more portable, tablet-oriented system and is willing to accept shorter battery life and gaming-related compromises. It does not make as much sense as an office laptop for someone who values quiet operation, all-day unplugged use, or a conventional keyboard base.

Why buy it: It is the most appropriate pick when gaming is a primary requirement and the tablet-like form factor is part of the appeal.

Why not: The battery result is the weakest among the main Tom’s Guide figures listed here, and a gaming-focused design is usually a poorer fit for long unplugged office sessions or relaxed tablet reading.

Other 2-in-1 laptops worth considering

Lenovo Yoga 7 2-in-1 14 (2024)

RTINGS lists the Lenovo Yoga 7 2-in-1 14 (2024) as a mid-range recommendation. It preserves the useful 360-degree convertible design while making compromises compared with the Yoga 9i to reach a lower price. It is a sensible alternative if current U.S. stock and pricing are available, but verify the exact configuration because a 2024 model should not be compared with a newer Yoga 9i solely by family name.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360

The Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 is the larger-screen alternative. Its 16-inch size can be valuable for productivity, media work, and split-screen use, and RTINGS highlights its HDMI 2.1 and microSD card reader. The trade-off is tablet ergonomics: a 16-inch convertible is less convenient to hold than a 13- or 14-inch model. RTINGS also identifies a weaker webcam and touchpad than the Yoga 9i.

Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714

The Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 is worth a brief look for browser-centered workflows and buyers who prefer ChromeOS. It is not a primary pick in this guide because the available research does not establish a sufficiently detailed 2026 configuration and price case. Confirm the current processor, memory, storage, display, support period, and availability before buying.

How to choose the right 2-in-1

1. Decide whether you need a convertible or a detachable

Choose a 360-degree convertible if you want… Choose a detachable if you want…
A stable keyboard for lap typing The lightest tablet configuration
A keyboard that is always attached To use the screen independently for reading, drawing, or presenting
A laptop that converts occasionally A tablet that becomes a laptop when needed
Fewer accessory-cost surprises Maximum flexibility in how you carry the device

The Surface Pro is the strongest tablet-first design here. The Yoga 9i and OmniBook X Flip are better defaults for people who expect to type regularly. The Zenbook Duo occupies a special middle ground: it has a detachable keyboard but is built around a larger, dual-screen productivity concept rather than around being a simple lightweight tablet.

2. Buy enough memory for the way you work

For a new Windows 11 2-in-1, 16GB of RAM is the sensible minimum if you expect to keep many browser tabs, office applications, messaging tools, and video calls open at once. An 8GB model can work for basic browsing and documents, but it is more likely to feel restrictive under modern multitasking. Choose 32GB for demanding creative work, large projects, virtual machines, heavier development workloads, or gaming-oriented use when the configuration permits it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Memory is especially important in these systems because it is often soldered or otherwise difficult to upgrade. Do not assume a low-cost configuration can be improved later.

3. Treat the pen and keyboard as part of the price

A stylus is worthwhile for handwritten notes, marking up documents, drawing, signing, and navigating tablet mode. But pen support does not necessarily mean a pen is included. The Yoga 9i may be sold with a Lenovo pen in one configuration and without it in another. The Surface Pro keyboard and Surface Slim Pen 2 may also be separate purchases.

Check four things before ordering:

  • Whether the pen is included in the exact retailer package.
  • Whether the pen supports pressure sensitivity and the applications you use.
  • Whether the keyboard is included, detachable, backlit, and compatible with the exact generation.
  • Whether a detachable keyboard stores or charges the pen.

For protection and portability, a 14-inch 2-in-1 laptop sleeve should account for the device’s thickness, hinge, keyboard, and pen—not merely its diagonal screen size.

4. Match the screen size to the way you will hold it

A 14-inch screen is a useful compromise: large enough for normal laptop work and still manageable in tablet mode. A 16-inch convertible can be excellent at a desk but cumbersome to hold for reading, drawing, or extended tablet use. The Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 illustrates this trade-off clearly: its larger panel and media-friendly ports are attractive, but its size reduces tablet convenience.

Also check the panel details rather than stopping at OLED or 3K. Refresh rate, HDR brightness, color coverage, touch support, aspect ratio, and pen response all affect the experience. Manufacturer specifications often describe the maximum capability of a product family, not every configuration sold by every retailer.

5. Check ARM versus x86 before buying a Surface Pro

Windows on Arm is not automatically a problem. It can be an excellent fit for web applications, Microsoft 365, mainstream productivity, and buyers who value portability and battery efficiency. The risk appears when your workflow depends on specialized software, older x86 applications, unusual plug-ins, printer or scanner drivers, hardware security tools, or PC games.

Make a list of the applications and peripherals you cannot replace, then check the developer or manufacturer’s current compatibility information. If gaming or legacy Windows hardware is central to your work, an x86-based convertible may be the less complicated choice.

6. Use battery tests as directional evidence

Tom’s Guide’s results use a controlled 150-nit Wi-Fi browsing test. RTINGS reports separate light-use and local-video results. Neither method predicts exactly what you will see with maximum brightness, video calls, creative applications, external displays, gaming, or a weak Wi-Fi signal.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Within one outlet’s test, the results can help identify relative endurance. Across outlets, treat them as separate evidence. The Yoga 9i’s 12 hours 47 minutes in Tom’s Guide’s test and approximately 13 hours of light use in RTINGS’ test do not represent identical workloads.

7. Plan for ports and desk expansion

Thin 2-in-1 designs often reduce physical ports. The Zenbook Duo’s two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB-A, and HDMI 2.1 cover important needs, but Tom’s Guide still identifies its port selection as comparatively limited. The Samsung’s HDMI 2.1 and microSD reader may be more convenient for photographers or users with external displays.

Before buying, list your required connections: external monitors, full-size USB devices, SD or microSD cards, wired networking, storage, and charging. If the laptop does not provide them directly, budget for a compatible USB-C or Thunderbolt dock and confirm that the dock supports your monitor resolution and refresh rate.

Which 2-in-1 should you buy?

  • Buy the Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition 14 for the best all-around traditional convertible experience.
  • Buy the Asus Zenbook Duo if two screens will materially improve your work and the higher price is justified.
  • Buy the HP OmniBook X Flip 14 if you want a modern 360-degree Windows laptop at a more accessible price and can verify the exact SKU.
  • Buy the Surface Pro 11th Edition if you will use it primarily as a tablet and are comfortable budgeting for the keyboard and possibly the pen.
  • Buy the Asus ProArt GoPro Edition PX13 if creator performance matters more than thinness and tablet comfort.
  • Buy the Asus ROG Flow Z13 if gaming is the defining requirement and you accept shorter battery life.
  • Consider the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 if you need a large screen, HDMI 2.1, and microSD more than easy tablet handling.
  • Consider the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 if your work is browser-based and ChromeOS is appropriate, after checking its current configuration.

Prices, generations, and availability

Prices, stock, included accessories, and retailer bundles change quickly. The $2,099 starting price reported for the Zenbook Duo was the price available to Tom’s Guide at the time of its research, not a permanent 2026 price. The same caution applies to the Yoga 9i, OmniBook X Flip, Surface accessories, and alternative models.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

In the United States, compare the exact manufacturer model number with the retailer listing. Outside the U.S., processor names, memory, displays, operating systems, keyboard layouts, pen bundles, and availability may differ. Do not use a review of a 2025 Yoga 9i to justify buying a Gen 11 listing, and do not assume an HP OmniBook X Flip 14 tested with one processor represents every 14-kb0000 configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best 2-in-1 laptop for most people in 2026?

The Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition 14 is the best general recommendation among the tested models if you want a conventional laptop with a 360-degree hinge, premium OLED display, pen support, and strong battery life. Verify the generation and whether the exact listing includes a pen.

Is the Surface Pro 11th Edition a laptop or a tablet?

It is a detachable tablet-laptop hybrid. The tablet is the primary device, while the keyboard attaches separately. This makes it lighter and more tablet-like than a convertible, but the complete laptop-ready setup may cost more and can be less comfortable on a lap.

How much RAM should a 2-in-1 laptop have?

Choose at least 16GB for a new Windows 11 2-in-1 used for normal multitasking. Choose 32GB for demanding creative work, development, virtual machines, or heavier gaming workloads. An 8GB model is best limited to basic use.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does every 2-in-1 laptop include a stylus?

No. Stylus support and stylus inclusion are different things. Check the exact retailer configuration. Surface Pro keyboards and Surface Slim Pen 2 accessories may be sold separately, while Lenovo and HP pen bundles can vary by region and retailer.

Are the battery results in this guide directly comparable?

Only cautiously. Tom’s Guide uses a 150-nit Wi-Fi web-browsing test, while RTINGS reports separate light-use and local-video results. Use results from the same outlet for rough comparisons and treat all figures as controlled-test evidence rather than guaranteed personal runtime.

The Bottom Line

The Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition 14 is the best default for a buyer who wants a real laptop that occasionally becomes a tablet. Choose the Asus Zenbook Duo when its second screen will transform your workflow, the HP OmniBook X Flip 14 when value matters most, and the Surface Pro 11th Edition when tablet portability comes first. Creators and gamers should look to the ProArt PX13 and ROG Flow Z13 respectively, while checking the exact processor, generation, accessory bundle, and regional availability before ordering.
