Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2025 does not exist. Microsoft’s current IoT LTSC release is Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024, based on Windows 11 version 24H2. Windows 11 IoT Enterprise version 25H2 is a separate General Availability Channel release, not an LTSC edition.
For fixed-purpose devices, LTSC 2024 provides a stable feature set with security and quality updates through October 10, 2034. Version 25H2 follows a shorter 36-month servicing model, so it is not a long-term replacement for LTSC.
What Microsoft actually released
Microsoft lists Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 as its latest IoT LTSC release. It was first made available to OEM device makers on May 22, 2024, and its formal lifecycle began on October 1, 2024. It is based on Windows 11 version 24H2, release build family 26100.
There is no separate Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2025 product or LTSC servicing branch. The 25H2 release is a different product track:

Microsoft’s Windows 11 release information lists the LTSC 2024 branch as version 24H2, with the July 28, 2026 update at build 26100.8973. Monthly cumulative updates change the build number; 26100 is the release build family, not a permanently fixed monthly build. See Microsoft’s Windows 11 release information.
LTSC 2024 is intended for long-lived devices
Windows IoT Enterprise LTSC is intended for fixed-purpose, specialized devices such as kiosks, medical systems, manufacturing equipment, retail terminals, and banking devices. Microsoft says it is not a replacement for Windows desktop for general-purpose computing.
The feature set remains static over the LTSC lifecycle. Devices receive cumulative security, reliability, and quality updates, but do not receive annual feature updates through Windows Update. Microsoft provides mainstream support through October 9, 2029, and extended support through October 10, 2034.
Moving from one Windows IoT Enterprise LTSC release to a later LTSC release requires a new license. LTSC 2024 is not a free feature upgrade from LTSC 2021.

Microsoft also lists WordPad and AllJoyn as removed from LTSC 2024. Internet Explorer is unavailable; use Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge for sites that require legacy behavior. Details are in Microsoft’s LTSC 2024 release notes.
Do not confuse IoT LTSC with Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC
The IoT edition name matters when comparing support dates. Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 receives extended support through October 10, 2034. Ordinary Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024 reaches end of updates on October 9, 2029. Do not use the IoT edition’s 2034 date for ordinary Enterprise LTSC.
What Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 25H2 provides
Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 25H2 is a General Availability Channel release, not LTSC. It was released on September 30, 2025, and has a 36-month servicing period ending October 10, 2028. Consider it when a device needs the General Availability Channel rather than LTSC’s stable feature set and longer lifecycle.

How to obtain LTSC 2024
Organizations can obtain Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 through OEMs and authorized Windows IoT distributors for new devices, or through Volume Licensing for eligible enterprise customers upgrading fixed-function devices. Microsoft also offers a 90-day evaluation, and Visual Studio Subscriptions may include access to Windows IoT Enterprise downloads.

Microsoft’s volume-licensing documentation lists Microsoft Product and Services Agreement (MPSA), Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA), and Select Plus as applicable programs. The volume-license deployment media is Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 x64 installation media or ISO.
Important restrictions when installing the evaluation
The public evaluation ISO is a 90-day evaluation edition. A permanent OEM, retail, or volume product key is not interchangeable with evaluation media. A common activation failure occurs when someone installs the evaluation ISO and then tries to activate it with a production key. For a commercial deployment, obtain and install the correctly licensed media rather than assuming a production key will convert the evaluation installation.

Microsoft lists two volume-activation methods for IoT Enterprise LTSC:
- KMS: organization-managed activation, periodically renewed with the organization’s KMS server.
- MAK: activation through Microsoft-hosted activation services.
For a volume-license MAK, use an elevated Command Prompt or PowerShell session and replace the placeholder with the organization’s key:
- Install the key with slmgr /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.
- Check license information with slmgr /dli.
- Request activation with slmgr /ato.
- Check activation status with slmgr /xpr.
With MAK activation, slmgr /xpr should report permanent activation. With KMS activation, it reports the current activation expiration date because the device periodically renews with the organization’s KMS server.

Upgrade limitations
Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC does not receive feature upgrades through Windows Update. For non-LTSC Windows 11 IoT Enterprise devices, version 24H2 can be delivered through Windows Update, Windows Server Update Services (including Configuration Manager), Windows Update for Business, and the Volume Licensing Service Center.

How to check your installed edition and build
- Open Start > Settings > System > About. Under Windows specifications, check the edition, version, and OS build.
- For a quick version check, run winver.
- For detailed licensing information, run slmgr /dlv. Microsoft notes that the licensing output identifies the LTSC edition; an LTSC installation commonly reports the edition identifier EnterpriseS.
- To query the running Windows edition with DISM, run DISM /Online /Get-CurrentEdition.
Which release should you choose?

The practical answer is that there is no “LTSC 2025” release to download. For a fixed-function deployment that needs the longer LTSC lifecycle, consider properly licensed Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024. For a General Availability Channel device, consider Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 25H2 as the separate non-LTSC option.
