To make desktop Edge open a chosen page when it starts, go to Settings and more (…) > Settings > Start, home, and new tab page and choose the startup behavior that fits. The Home button has a separate destination, so changing it alone may not change what appears when Edge launches. On mobile, set a specific Home page in Edge’s settings; to revisit an older page, find it in History.
Choose what you mean by “open to a page”
- At browser launch: Set Edge’s desktop startup behavior.
- When you press Home: Set the Home page separately.
- On a phone or tablet: Choose a Home page in Edge for mobile.
- A page you visited earlier: Find it in History. That is different from restoring all tabs and windows from a previous session.
Microsoft describes the desktop startup controls in its Edge startup and customization guidance and Edge overview. Exact labels and available choices can vary by version.
Make desktop Edge open a specific page at startup
- Open Microsoft Edge and select Settings and more (…) in the upper-right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Open Start, home, and new tab page.
- Choose the startup behavior or page option that matches your goal. Follow the on-screen controls to specify the page if that option is offered.
Microsoft’s support guidance identifies this settings area as the place to control what Edge displays at startup, but does not establish that every Edge build has identical labels or choices. If your screen differs, use the settings page’s current startup options rather than assuming a particular menu wording.

The Home button takes you to its configured destination when you select it; it does not necessarily determine what appears when Edge starts. If the launch page is still wrong after changing the Home page, return to Settings > Start, home, and new tab page and check the startup behavior as well. Microsoft’s Home page instructions describe enabling the Home button and entering a URL.

Choose a page in Edge for Android or iOS
- Open Edge and tap Menu (…).
- Tap Settings > General > Home page.
- Choose A specific page, then use the current page or enter the URL you want.
- Tap Save.
This path is documented in Microsoft’s Edge for mobile FAQs for iOS and Android. The menu’s presentation can differ with app version, device, or accessibility settings.
Reopen an individual page from History
- In Edge, select Settings and more (…).
- Select History > Open history page.
- Find the page and select it to open it again.
Microsoft documents this route in its Edge troubleshooting guidance. History helps you revisit individual pages; it does not by itself restore an entire set of tabs or windows.

What if you want the previous session back?
Look in Settings > Start, home, and new tab page for a session option such as continuing where you left off, if your version offers one. The available sources do not establish one universal procedure across Edge versions or managed devices, so check the current controls in your own browser. Do not assume every closed tab or window will always be recoverable.
If Edge does not open or load the page
These checks are for problems launching Edge or loading a site, not required parts of changing the startup page.

- Check for updates: Go to Settings and more > Settings > About Microsoft Edge.
- Restart and test again: Restart Edge; if the problem remains, restart the device.
- If Edge opens but pages misbehave: Microsoft says clearing browsing history and cached data can sometimes help. This may remove stored browsing data, so review the available clearing options before confirming.
- Repair Edge on Windows: Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Edge > Modify > Repair, if the option is available. If an organization manages the installation and you cannot repair it, contact its administrator.
- If the site also fails in another browser: Check the network or the site itself; restarting the modem or router may help when the connection is the problem.

If you mean “start Edge automatically when I sign in to Windows,” that is a different setting from choosing which page Edge shows after you launch it. Windows has a sign-in option for saving and restarting restartable apps after a restart; Microsoft explains it in its guidance on Edge starting automatically.

Likewise, Startup boost is a launch-speed feature that keeps core Edge processes running in the background; it does not choose a page. Microsoft describes its availability as limited to most Windows versions, so do not assume it is available on every device.

Edge can also install a website as an app and configure that app to start at device sign-in. That is a separate workflow, described in Microsoft’s instructions for Edge apps, rather than the ordinary browser startup-page setting.
