Google’s stated aim was to connect Siemplify’s response workflows with Chronicle’s security analytics; the product later became Chronicle SOAR, and Google’s current product documentation uses the name Google Security Operations.
What is Siemplify?
Siemplify made SOAR software for security operations teams. SOAR tools help organize incident handling by connecting alerts, investigation steps and response actions into workflows. Google described Siemplify as an end-to-end workbench spanning incident management, response and feedback. That description was Google’s characterization of the product, not an independently measured assessment.
In Google’s January 4, 2022 announcement, the company said Siemplify would join Google Cloud’s security team.
Why did Google acquire Siemplify?
Google’s stated rationale was to combine Siemplify’s SOAR workflows with Chronicle’s security analytics and telemetry. In practical terms, analytics can help identify and investigate potential threats, while orchestration software can coordinate how security teams manage incidents and respond. Google said the combination could help customers handle more complex incidents with less effort; it did not publish independently verified performance results for the acquisition.

Sunil Potti, then Google Cloud Security’s VP/GM, described the deal as “an important step forward” in Google’s vision to unite SOAR with Chronicle’s security analytics. Siemplify CEO Amos Stern likewise said the combination with Chronicle analytics and threat intelligence could help security professionals transform security operations. Both statements express the companies’ goals, not measured outcomes.
What happened to Siemplify after Google bought it?
Google later presented the acquired capabilities as part of Chronicle Security Operations. The suite brought together Chronicle SIEM, SOAR capabilities from Siemplify, and Google Cloud threat intelligence. Google said the Siemplify brand would be replaced with Chronicle SOAR, while the analytics product would be called Chronicle SIEM. The transition is described in Google’s Chronicle Security Operations announcement.

Today, Google Cloud’s product overview uses the name Google Security Operations, often shortened to Google SecOps. Google describes it as a cloud service for enterprises to retain, analyze and search security and network telemetry, supporting threat detection, investigation and remediation through integrations. Use “Siemplify” for the acquired company and “Chronicle SOAR” for the announced successor branding; use “Google Security Operations” for the current product context.
How much did Google pay for Siemplify?
Google did not disclose a purchase price in its announcement. TechCrunch reported that sources close to the deal estimated it at about $500 million, and Reuters reporting republished by Investing.com also attributed that estimate to a source. The figure was reported, not officially confirmed by Google. TechCrunch also reported that Siemplify had raised $58 million in total funding; that is company background, not the acquisition price.
- TechCrunch’s 2022 report attributed the estimated price to sources and reported the funding total.
- Reuters reporting republished by Investing.com also cited a source for the estimated price.
What should existing customers know about current SOAR migration guidance?
Google’s documentation describes a Stage 2 SOAR migration to Cloud IAM permissions, the Chronicle API, webhooks and remote-agent authentication. It states that Stage 2 became generally available on January 26, 2026, and gives November 30, 2026 as the final deadline for the documented transition. Google says legacy SOAR APIs and API keys will no longer function after that deadline. These are time-sensitive operational details: consult Google’s SOAR migration overview and deprecations page for current schedules before making customer plans; the latter also covers separate SIEM API and infrastructure timelines.
