iOS 18 is compatible with iPhone XS and later. Apple released the free update on September 16, 2024, but notes that some features may not be available on every iPhone model, in every region, or in every language.
Which iPhones support iOS 18?
Apple’s compatibility threshold is iPhone XS and later. If your iPhone is an XS or a newer model, it meets Apple’s stated model requirement for iOS 18. Apple’s announcement gives this generation threshold rather than a complete model-by-model list.
For the official compatibility and update guidance, check Apple’s current instructions for updating your iPhone.
Does compatibility mean every iOS 18 feature will work?
No. Being eligible to install iOS 18 does not guarantee access to every feature. Apple cautions that some features may not be available on all iPhone models, regions, or languages. Feature availability can therefore depend on more than whether a phone meets the iOS 18 compatibility threshold.
