What is Nano Banana Pro?
Nano Banana Pro is the consumer-facing name for Gemini 3 Pro Image, Google’s image generation and editing model built on Gemini 3 Pro. It is distinct from the original Nano Banana, which Google identifies as Gemini 2.5 Flash Image. Google’s model names and app options can change, so the live Gemini developer documentation is the best reference for current model identifiers.
Google positions Pro for more demanding visual tasks: following complex instructions, drawing on world knowledge, rendering text more accurately across languages, and producing high-fidelity images with creative controls. Google describes uses such as visualizing ideas, creating infographics, and turning notes into diagrams. These are capabilities Google promotes, not a promise that every generated image will be factually correct or production-ready without review.
Is Nano Banana Pro free to try?
Not as a timeless, unlimited offer. Google’s launch announcement described access at launch, while current Gemini Help says Nano Banana Pro is available with a Google AI Plan when regenerating an image for additional detail. Current free allowances, plan entitlements, and availability can change; check the details shown in Gemini for your account, country, and app surface. Do not rely on an old launch quota as today’s allowance.

To try image generation in the Gemini app, make an image request and review the available model or regeneration options. Google’s current help says Gemini uses Nano Banana 2 for ordinary image requests when the selected model is Flash or Pro, while the Pro option is available for regenerating an image with more detail. Google’s developer documentation describes Pro as the premium choice for complex visual tasks and positions Flash-family models for efficiency. Choose based on the complexity and precision you need, not just the word “Pro”: access, quotas, and capabilities differ between the consumer app, API, and enterprise products.

How developers and businesses can access it
Developers
Developers can explore image-generation capabilities in Google AI Studio and use the Gemini API. Google’s image-generation documentation lists the available models and explains how to work with them. API billing is separate from consumer Gemini plan terms; consult Google’s Gemini API pricing page for current model-specific charges rather than inferring app access or subscription pricing from API rates.
Enterprise
Google Cloud announced general availability of Nano Banana Pro through Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. That is an enterprise route, not the same offer as using Gemini as an individual. Google Cloud also describes Nano Banana models in creative workflows involving products such as Adobe Firefly Enterprise; availability and integration details depend on the respective products. What to check before relying on it
- Plan and limits: Verify the current Google AI Plan entitlement and remaining usage shown in your account.
- Country and app: Confirm the feature is available in your region and on the Gemini surface you are using.
- Model selection: Check whether you are making a standard image request or regenerating with the Pro option; these are not necessarily the same model path.
- Output review: Inspect text, factual details, and fine visual elements before using an image publicly or professionally.
- API costs: Developers should check the live API pricing and model documentation rather than applying consumer-plan assumptions.
Google’s launch announcement also described different visible Gemini sparkle-mark treatment across access tiers and AI Studio. Do not assume that outputs are watermark-free across all plans or product surfaces; check the current rules for the route you use.
