Delete one contact on a recent Galaxy phone
Samsung’s US instructions for the Galaxy S25 show this route in the Phone app:
- Open Phone and tap Contacts.
- Touch and hold the contact you want to remove.
- Tap Delete, then confirm Move to Trash.
You can also open the Contacts app directly. On Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra instructions, which are based on Android 16 and One UI 8.5, the route is to open the contact, tap Details, then More > Delete > Move to Trash. See Samsung’s US Phone app instructions and Japan Contacts app instructions.
Delete several contacts at once
In the Galaxy S25 Phone app flow, touch and hold one contact in the Contacts tab to start selection. Tap the other contacts you want to remove, then tap Delete and confirm Move to Trash. The exact selection controls may vary on other models and software versions.

What “Move to Trash” means
Move to Trash is the normal confirmation step for deletion in the cited current Galaxy instructions; it does not by itself permanently erase the entry. To delete a trashed contact permanently, open More options > Trash, select that contact, tap Delete, and confirm.
Samsung Japan says contacts deleted while Trash is enabled can be restored for 30 days. Its guidance says a contact deleted while Trash is disabled cannot be restored through Trash. That recovery guidance is specific to Samsung’s Japan instructions; do not assume the same behavior or window applies to every Galaxy device or region.

If you cannot find the contact or the menu differs
Check which contacts are displayed
Galaxy contacts may be stored on the phone, a SIM card, a Samsung account, or a Google account. If an entry is missing, check the Contacts app’s account or storage display controls and confirm which location is selected. Samsung describes these storage locations and display filters in its contacts management guidance. If it matters which copy is affected, verify the contact’s storage account before deleting; the available sources do not establish how every sync configuration handles deletion across accounts.
Look for an alternate menu path
Samsung notes that steps and features vary by model and operating system. Older manuals show alternate paths, including Contacts > the three-dot menu > Edit or Delete. If the steps above do not match, use the labels shown on your device or consult the manual for your model. Examples include the Galaxy Z Fold6 manual and the Galaxy S9+ manual.

Do not confuse a contact with a call record
Deleting a saved contact is different from removing a call from your history. Call records are managed separately under Phone > Recents.
