What is Apple Invites?
Apple Invites is a service for creating, customizing, sending, and managing event invitations. A host can add an event title, date and time, location, description, background, and optional shared photo album or playlist. Apple’s guides identify the service as Apple Invites; they do not establish “Confetti” as the official name of an iCloud event feature. The word “confetti” also appears in Apple Developer documentation for a separate camera reaction, not as the name of an invitation service. Who needs iCloud+ or an Apple Account?
The host needs an iCloud+ subscription to create and host an event. Guests can open the invitation and RSVP on the web using any device, whether or not they have an Apple Account; attending is free. These are different requirements: a host’s subscription is not a prerequisite for guests to respond. Apple Invites overview Apple event creation guide
How to create an event in Apple Invites
On iPhone
- Open the Apple Invites app and start a new event.
- Enter the event details, including its title, date and time, and location. Add a description or background if you want to customize the invitation.
- Optionally add a shared photo album or playlist. Creating a shared playlist requires an Apple Music subscription.
- Preview the invitation, adjust the available settings, and invite guests.
On the web
- Go to icloud.com/invites and sign in.
- Create a new event and enter its details.
- Optionally add supported shared media, preview the invitation, and adjust its settings.
- Invite guests.

Apple Invites vs. iCloud Calendar invitations
These are separate workflows for different needs. Apple Invites is designed for a customized invitation and guest management, with optional shared albums and playlists. iCloud Calendar invitations are attached to calendar events and track invitees’ responses. Using Calendar does not mean an invitation was created in Apple Invites.
