Google’s Project Genie is best understood as an experimental tool for generating worlds to explore—not a conventional game builder that promises a finished, editable game. If you want to start with a text prompt and make a playable game, Roblox Build and Rosebud describe more direct prompt-to-game workflows. GDevelop and Roblox Studio Assistant instead help you build or change a project inside an existing development environment.
The right choice depends on the output you want: an AI-generated world, a prompt-made game within a platform, or help developing a project you control.
What does Google Project Genie actually make?
Project Genie uses Google DeepMind’s Genie 3 world model to create interactive environments for exploration. Google Labs describes a workflow in which users can provide text, images, or Street View inputs, refine a world before entering it, and then explore as the environment is generated around their movement. Google calls Project Genie “an early research prototype that lets you create and explore infinitely diverse worlds.” Google Labs’ Project Genie page
Google lists Genie 3’s real-time interaction rate as 20–24 frames per second and its rendered resolution as 720p. These are vendor-published specifications, not a comparative performance test. They describe the model’s interactive world output; they do not establish that Project Genie provides stable game logic, a full game engine, or an exportable finished project. How the tools differ
| Tool | What it creates or helps with | Editing and workflow | Platform and publishing path |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Project Genie / Genie 3 | An interactive world generated for exploration | Refine the prompt and world, then explore as it generates around movement | Access is tied to Google AI Ultra and supported availability; the cited material does not establish an exportable finished-game workflow |
| Roblox Build | A basic game created from a text prompt | Iterate on the result and playtest within Roblox | Mobile-first creation inside the Roblox app, with sharing and publishing within Roblox |
| Rosebud AI Game Maker | A browser-playable game, with generated code, art, and sound | Playtest in the browser and iterate through chat; Rosebud describes generated code as editable | Browser-based, with a publishing path for sharing a game link |
| GDevelop | A game project built in a no-code engine, with AI help for mechanics | Work in an editable project; its AI agent can answer questions, brainstorm, and build mechanics | The engine supports projects for mobile, desktop, and web |
| Roblox Studio Assistant | Help with work inside a Roblox Studio project | Ask questions, generate content, and perform project actions; Roblox also documents code, materials, meshes, models, input simulation, and playtesting features | Works in Roblox Studio; it is an in-project assistant, not the same prompt-to-game feature as Roblox Build |
The distinctions in this table reflect each vendor’s product descriptions, not a side-by-side hands-on test. The sources do not establish equivalent code export, portability, or commercial rights across these tools.

Roblox Build: make a basic game and keep it in Roblox
Roblox describes Build as a mobile-first feature in the Roblox app that turns text prompts into a basic game. The intended path is to create a starting point, iterate, playtest, and share or publish within Roblox; it is not presented as a general-purpose game engine independent of the platform. Roblox’s Build announcement
For private testing, Roblox Creator Hub says a playtest link can be shared with up to 10 friends. That is the documented limit for this playtest-link feature, rather than a general cap on all Roblox sharing. Roblox Creator Hub’s testing documentation
Rosebud: generate and revise a browser game through chat
Rosebud describes a browser-based workflow that generates game code, art, and sound from a description. Users can playtest in the browser, revise through chat, and publish a link. Its approach is closer to “describe a game, then iterate on a playable result” than Project Genie’s focus on entering and exploring a generated world. Rosebud’s AI Game Creator page
Rosebud’s plan terms matter if you intend to sell what you make. Its pricing page lists commercial rights for 10x Dev and Pro, and its creator page says paid plans with commercial usage rights let users sell games and assets. The listed plan names and terms can change; check the current pages for limits and rights before paying or releasing a project commercially. This does not establish commercial rights for the other tools in this comparison. Rosebud pricing and plan details · Rosebud’s creator information

GDevelop: use AI inside a no-code game engine
GDevelop is an open-source, no-code engine for 2D, 3D, and multiplayer games targeting mobile, desktop, and web. Its AI agent can answer questions, brainstorm, and build mechanics directly in a game project. That makes it a better fit when you want to work on an editable project rather than simply explore a generated environment or receive a one-shot game from a prompt. Roblox Studio Assistant: get help in an existing Roblox project
Studio Assistant is a conversational helper inside Roblox Studio. Roblox says it can answer questions, generate content, and perform actions in Studio; its documentation also describes assistance with writing and running code, creating materials, meshes, and models, simulating inputs, and playtesting. Use it when you are working directly in Studio, not as a synonym for Build’s mobile prompt-to-game flow. Roblox Studio Assistant overview

Which tool should you choose?
- To explore a world generated as you move: Consider Project Genie if you meet the current age, account, subscription, and location requirements. Treat it as a research prototype, not a promise of a finished game project.
- To turn a prompt into a game and stay on Roblox: Consider Roblox Build, especially if Roblox playtesting and publishing are your goal.
- To generate and revise a browser-playable game: Consider Rosebud. Check its current plan limits, code access, and commercial-use terms before choosing a paid plan.
- To build a project in a no-code engine: Consider GDevelop if you want an editable project and AI assistance with mechanics.
- To work on a Roblox Studio project: Consider Studio Assistant for in-environment help; choose Build for its separate prompt-to-game workflow.
What this comparison does—and does not—establish
These tools overlap in helping people create interactive experiences, but they do not promise the same result. Project Genie emphasizes world generation and exploration; Roblox Build and Rosebud describe prompt-to-game creation; GDevelop and Studio Assistant focus on AI help within project workflows. The cited vendor information does not provide a common benchmark for output quality, prove that projects can move freely between products, or support a full price comparison across all five tools.
