The Tesla Model F autonomous flying car was an April Fools joke, not a real Tesla vehicle announcement. The associated Futurism video was published on April 1, 2016, and its description ends with the explicit line, “Hope everyone had a wonderful April Fools!”
What was the Tesla Model F?
“The Next Era of Tesla: Meet The Model F Autonomous Flying Car” is the title of a Futurism story identified as a 2018 article. The flying-car concept is a joke, as the associated 2016 video’s April Fools disclosure makes clear. It should not be treated as a Tesla product, announced program, or aircraft under development.
The reviewed sources do not establish a Model F release date, price, aircraft design, flight capability, performance specifications, or ordering process. Claims about those details should not be mistaken for verified Tesla information.
What Tesla actually lists and discusses
Tesla’s 2025 Form 10-K says the company manufactures five consumer vehicles: Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck. The filing also discusses Robotaxi and Cybercab, but in the context of ground vehicles—not a flying car.

- Robotaxi: The filing says the business operates with Model Y vehicles.
- Cybercab: Tesla describes it as a purpose-built autonomous vehicle that the company expects to include in the service in time. That is a forward-looking plan, not a statement that the vehicle is already operating as part of the service.
These disclosures do not substantiate the Model F. Autonomous-driving plans for road vehicles are not evidence of an autonomous aircraft.
