You can set a photo from Google Photos as your Chromebook wallpaper in a few steps: right-click an empty area of the desktop, open Set wallpaper & style, choose Wallpaper, then select Google Photos and pick your image.
Set a Google Photos picture as your wallpaper
- Right-click an empty area of the Chromebook desktop.
- Select Set wallpaper & style, then choose Wallpaper.
- Select Google Photos as the image source.
- Choose the photo you want to use.
Google’s Chromebook wallpaper and screen saver guide documents this path for personal photos saved in Google Photos.
If your photo is missing
Download the image to your Chromebook, then open the wallpaper picker and select My Images. Google lists PNG and JPG as examples of supported image formats. This local-image option is useful when a picture does not appear in the Google Photos picker.
Other settings and restrictions
- Daily wallpaper changes: The wallpaper settings offer an option to change or refresh the wallpaper daily. You do not need to enable it to use a single photo.
- Work or school Chromebook: An administrator may restrict wallpaper changes. If the wallpaper controls are unavailable, contact your administrator.
- Shared albums: Other people can keep adding or editing pictures in a shared album while it is used for wallpaper, so its contents may change.
You can also reach wallpaper and style controls through Quick Settings and Settings, as described in Google’s Chromebook settings guide.
