The launch brought King Charles III and Apple executive chairman Tim Cook together with Elton John, David Furnish and singer-songwriter Skye Newman. The new workshop series is intended to help young people develop creative-industry skills through technology, resources and mentorship.
What is Apple x The King’s Trust Creative Labs?
Creative Labs is a collaboration between Apple and The King’s Trust. The partners describe it as a series of workshops connecting young people with creative skills and support intended to help them move toward work in creative industries. Apple’s senior director of global community impact, Alisha Johnson Wilder, said the labs would connect young creators and innovators with Apple experts, technology and mentorship.
The 7 October launch coverage showed a music-creation session, but did not identify the devices or software used. It also did not set out the initiative’s curriculum, duration, eligibility rules, application process, schedule or locations beyond the launch event and first cohort.
Who attended the launch?
King Charles III and Tim Cook met young participants at Apple Music Hall, inside Battersea Power Station. Elton John and his husband, David Furnish, were also present. Singer-songwriter Skye Newman took part in the event; The Standard reported that she soundchecked her song “Crawling” ahead of a concert. The BBC described the venue as a hi-tech music workshop and identified Apple mentor Prophet Guillory.

The celebrity appearances and performance were part of the launch event; they do not establish the program’s curriculum or expected outcomes.
How Creative Labs relates to The King’s Trust
The King’s Trust marked its 50th anniversary in 2026. The Standard reported that the charity said it had helped more than 1.3 million young people across the UK; the BBC also reported a UK reach of 1.3 million. The Standard further reported that Apple and the Trust’s partnership began in 2019. That reported date refers to the broader partnership, not necessarily to Creative Labs.

Creative Labs is not the same as Creative Studios
Apple’s Today at Apple Creative Studios was announced in 2021 as a separate creative-learning initiative. Its announcement covered music, film, photography, and art and design, and named products including iPad, Apple Pencil, Beats headphones and iPhone for particular locations. Those details do not confirm what equipment Creative Labs uses.

- Whether Creative Labs will operate beyond the launch and first cohort in London, and where.
- Which devices, software or creative disciplines participants will use.
Same-day launch reports establish the initiative’s stated purpose and the event setting, but do not provide those logistical details. They also do not report outcomes from the new program.
