Then report the specific error using AI Mode’s feedback control, and correct the underlying information wherever it is managed: your Brand Profile, Business Profile, Knowledge Panel, or public website. Google says a follow-up can clarify an answer, but it does not promise that feedback will change a particular answer or give a resolution deadline.
1. Record the error and send AI Mode feedback
- Save what you saw. Note the query and date, copy the full answer, and save the links shown as sources. This makes it easier to identify whether the incorrect detail is also present in a Google profile or on a public page.
- Use the feedback control in AI Mode. Describe the exact incorrect detail and provide the correct fact. Google also says you can respond with a follow-up to correct or clarify an answer. Its AI Mode Help page says, “If AI Mode gets something wrong, you’re always in control to respond with a follow-up to correct or clarify.”
Feedback is a report, not a guaranteed correction. Google’s AI Mode guidance does not specify when feedback will be reviewed or whether a particular answer will change.
2. Correct the source that owns the information
AI Mode feedback and profile edits are separate actions. Choose the management surface that matches the kind of business and the place where the wrong detail appears. An online product brand and a local, face-to-face business may have different profiles; some businesses may have both.

Brand Profile: online product brands
Google says Brand Profile information can come from Merchant Center-managed products, promotions, delivery and return details, social accounts, descriptions and images, as well as public websites, other credible sites, licensed data, user contributions and, in some cases, AI-generated descriptions. Check the Brand Profile guidance and Merchant Center information to find the details you can manage. If a field is not editable, send feedback from the Brand Profile instead.

Business Profile: eligible local businesses
For a local business that meets Google’s eligibility requirements, review its verified Business Profile in Search or Maps. Check factual fields such as the name, category, address, hours, phone number, website, attributes and description. Google says Business Profile information may also draw on public web content, licensed third-party data, user contributions and its interactions with places, so check for Google-applied updates and suggested edits as well as owner-entered fields. Follow Google’s instructions for editing your Business Profile.
When Google notifies you about a suggested edit, review it and respond. Google says some changes require a response within 4 days; without one, it may publish an edit automatically if public information supports it. For place details that are not available to edit through your Business Profile, Google also lets people suggest a correction in Maps. That tool’s availability varies by region, and submitted edits are reviewed.

Knowledge Panel: entity information
If the error is in a Knowledge Panel, an official representative can claim it and suggest changes. Other users can use the panel’s feedback link. Google also says Knowledge Panels update automatically as information on the web changes. See Google’s guidance on claiming and updating a Knowledge Panel.
Official website and public sources
If your website states the wrong fact, fix it there. Google says publicly available information, including official websites, can inform Brand Profiles. It also advises businesses to verify and update relevant schema.org markup on their websites as needed for Brand Profile information. Treat this as correcting an underlying source, not as a direct switch for changing AI Mode answers. Other public pages may also contain outdated details, so check the source links AI Mode displayed and contact the relevant publisher when appropriate.
3. Check the result without assuming a deadline
After making changes, rerun the same query and inspect the same Search surface where you first saw the error. Google says verified Business Profile edits usually take up to 10 minutes to review, but sometimes take up to 30 days. That estimate applies to Business Profile edits only; Google does not say that AI Mode feedback or Brand Profile feedback follows the same timeline.

What not to rely on
- Do not treat an AI Mode report as a profile edit. Feedback about an answer does not replace updating information in a profile or at its public source.
- Do not expect schema or special AI markup to force a different answer. Google’s Search Central guidance recommends useful content and explains Search Console reporting for Search performance, but does not promise inclusion in AI Mode or correction of a specific response. Google also says robots.txt controls Googlebot access; changing access is not a correction mechanism for a wrong answer.
- Do not assume every business uses the same profile. Brand Profiles and local Business Profiles have different purposes and eligibility, though some businesses may use both.
