Possibly—but Google has not announced or released games for Google Messages. A report published October 7, 2026 says a beta build contains labels for a Games section and strings naming nine games. That suggests Google may be exploring the idea; it does not confirm a launch, availability, or how the feature would work.
What the Google Messages beta reportedly revealed
Android Authority reported finding game-related strings in the Google Messages build messages.android_20261002_00_RC00.phone.openbeta_dynamic. The report says the strings include a generic “Game” label, a “Games” launcher-screen title, and names for nine titles:
- Word Scramble
- Chess
- Cup Pong
- Checkers
- Pool
- Basketball
- Four in a Row
- Crazy 8s
- Darts
Android Authority describes “Midnight” as an apparent internal codename because the strings use the midnight_ prefix. The report says the finding followed a tip from Abhishek Yadav on X. These are reported findings in a beta build, not an announcement from Google.
Are games available in Google Messages now?
The report does not establish that users can play these games. Finding strings in an app build can point to work in progress, but it does not show that a feature is enabled, finished, or destined for release. Google had not announced plans for games in Messages in the cited coverage.

How might the games work?
Android Authority compares the possibility to GamePigeon on iMessage, but that is an illustration, not a confirmed design. The strings alone do not show whether games would open within a conversation, use a separate screen, or be playable directly with another person.

- Whether they work in chats with people using other messaging platforms.
- Which devices or regions would be eligible.
- When a rollout might happen, or whether all nine named games would be included.
Should you install the Google Messages beta to try them?
Google’s Google Messages beta guidance says eligible users can test experimental features before release. It also warns that beta versions may be unstable and does not recommend using the beta on a main phone. That general guidance does not mean the reported games are currently enabled for beta testers.

Joining the beta is therefore not a confirmed way to access these games. If you use beta software, weigh the possibility of instability against the fact that this particular feature has not been confirmed as available.
