If your Apple News feed feels one-sided, you can reset the information used to recommend stories: on iPhone, open News > Following > History > Clear, then choose Clear Recommendations. This removes recommendation information without choosing the separate option to erase your reading history. It may change what appears in Today and other feeds, but Apple does not promise a particular mix or an immediate change.
Reset recommendations without deleting reading history
- Open the News app on your iPhone.
- Tap Following, then History, then Clear.
- Choose Clear Recommendations.
Apple says this removes News recommendation information from every device signed in to the same Apple Account. Apple says clearing recommendation information can change the types of channels, topics, and stories shown in Today and other feeds across your Apple devices. It does not guarantee that the feed will become ideologically balanced, that particular stories will disappear, or that changes will be immediate. Apple Support: Clear your News history

Choose the right Clear option
| Option | What it removes |
|---|---|
| Clear History | Your reading history. |
| Clear Recommendations | Information used to recommend stories. |
| Clear All | Both reading history and recommendation information. |
These are distinct choices: use Clear Recommendations for a focused reset, or Clear All if you also want to erase your reading history. Apple says News history and recommendation information are removed across devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Clearing history also resets the identifier Apple News uses to report statistics to news publishers. Apple documents a separate manual control for that identifier at Settings > Apps > News. Give feedback on a story
In Today, tap More below a headline, then choose Suggest More or Suggest Less. This gives feedback on an individual story rather than resetting recommendation information. Apple Support: Personalize your News feed

Adjust channels and topics
Follow or unfollow channels and topics, or block and unblock them from their feeds. These controls change your source preferences; they are different from clearing the recommendation information associated with your account. Apple Support: Personalize your News feed
Limit Today to followed channels
Go to Settings > Apps > News and turn on Restrict Stories in Today. Apple warns that this significantly limits variety and removes Top Stories and Trending Stories from Today. It is a stronger filter, not simply a recommendation reset. Apple Support: Personalize your News feed

Change which app activity informs recommendations
To base recommendations on your News reading habits rather than activity in Safari and other apps, go to Settings > Apps > News > Siri and turn off Show in App. Apple Support: Clear your News history
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why a feed can still feel one-sided after a reset
Apple describes Today as a mix that can include editor-selected Top Stories, followed channels and topics, Siri suggestions, trending stories, and other content—not only personalized recommendations. A reset therefore does not explain or diagnose why a particular feed looks one-sided, nor does Apple say it corrects a measurable political or ideological bias. Some Today features vary by country or region. Apple Support: Personalize your News feed
