Yes—the Google TV Streamer Voice Remote works with Chromecast with Google TV. But pairing the newer remote does not add its Google TV Streamer–specific Find My Remote and customizable-button features to Chromecast. Both remotes work with their respective streaming devices, and Google’s replacement setup instructions cover both.
Which remote works with each streaming device?

Compatibility means the remote can control the streaming device; it does not mean every feature works on every device. Google explicitly lists both Chromecast with Google TV and Google TV Streamer as compatible with the newer remote. Google’s remote comparison distinguishes the Streamer-only features.
What is different between the two remotes?
The remotes differ in size and features. Google lists the Chromecast Voice Remote at 122 × 38 × 18 mm and the Google TV Streamer Voice Remote at 137 × 38 × 16 mm. Both use two AAA batteries. The newer remote has a customizable button and Find My Remote; Google specifies those features for Google TV Streamer, not Chromecast with Google TV. Google’s product specifications provide the dimensions and battery details.
The Chromecast Voice Remote includes an IR LED for controlling a TV, receiver, or soundbar. Regardless of which remote you use, the streaming-device connection and the setup for controlling other equipment are separate matters. Google’s Chromecast specifications describe the Chromecast remote.

How to pair a replacement remote
Google says a replacement Voice Remote can be set up for a Chromecast with Google TV or Google TV Streamer that has already been configured. Follow these steps: Google’s replacement-remote instructions cover the process.
- Turn on the streaming device.
- Press the button on the back of the device for 5–10 seconds to start Pairing Mode.
- Insert two AAA batteries in the replacement remote. It will usually pair automatically.
- If it does not pair, follow the directions shown on the TV. You can also hold Back and Home on the remote for three seconds.
For initial Google TV Streamer setup, the remote normally pairs automatically. If the screen asks you to pair it, hold Back and Home until the remote’s light pulses. Google’s Google TV Streamer setup instructions describe that initial setup.

Set up TV, receiver, or soundbar controls separately
Pairing the remote with Chromecast or Google TV Streamer does not by itself confirm that volume, power, or input controls are configured for a connected TV, receiver, or soundbar. Set up those controls separately using the on-screen prompts, then check that each function works with your equipment. Google documents these controls in its Google TV Streamer setup instructions and remote comparison.

Google directs customers to the Google Store for replacement remotes. Its cited support instructions do not establish current prices or regional stock, so check the store for availability where you live. Before choosing the Google TV Streamer Voice Remote as a replacement for Chromecast with Google TV, note that its Streamer-specific convenience features will not carry over to Chromecast. Google’s replacement instructions identify the Google Store as the purchase path.
