For U.S. Apple Cash users, the applicable limit depends on what you’re doing: holding a balance, sending money, adding money, or transferring money out. A standard bank transfer is free and typically takes 1–3 business days; Instant Transfer to an eligible U.S.-issued debit card costs 1.7% and usually arrives immediately, though it can take up to 30 minutes.
Apple Cash limits at a glance
Apple’s published limits are service caps, not guarantees that a transaction will be approved. Apple or a card issuer may apply additional restrictions, and identity or security checks can delay a transaction or access to funds. The figures below are Apple’s U.S. limits, published February 19, 2026.

Which limit applies to your transaction?
Balance limit
The balance cap is the maximum you can hold in Apple Cash: $20,000 for a standard account after identity verification, or $4,000 for an Apple Cash Family member. A balance cap is separate from the limits on sending, adding, or withdrawing money.

Send and receive limit
For standard Apple Cash, sending or receiving is limited to $10,000 per message and $10,000 over seven days. The Family and Tap to Cash limits are lower: $2,000 per message and $2,000 over seven days. These are payment limits, not the amount you can transfer out to a bank.
Add-money limit
Adding money requires a supported U.S. debit or prepaid card. The standard minimum is $10, with a maximum of $10,000 per transaction and over seven days. In Apple Cash Family, the minimum is $10 and the cap is $2,000 per transaction and over seven days. Card issuers can impose their own limits, and not every prepaid card is supported.

Transfer-out limit
Moving money from Apple Cash to a bank account or debit card has a separate cap: $10,000 per transfer and $20,000 over seven days for a standard account. For Apple Cash Family, the maximum is $2,000 per transfer and $4,000 over seven days. The standard minimum is $1, unless your full balance is less than $1, in which case you can transfer the full balance.

Apple states, “Most transfers complete within 1–3 business days.” Instant Transfer is not a guaranteed arrival time: Apple describes it as usually immediate but allows up to 30 minutes, and a security review can take longer. Apple Cash Family and age requirements
An organizer sets up Apple Cash Family for a child or teen, and Apple applies lower limits to family-member accounts. General Apple Cash sending and receiving ordinarily requires the user to be at least 18 and a U.S. resident, but a family organizer can set up Apple Cash for someone under 18.
Age rules depend on the feature. Apple says users must be at least 13 to add an eligible U.S. debit or prepaid card and to use Instant Transfer. Some features that require a supported payment card may not be available to minors. Check Apple’s Apple Cash sending and receiving requirements for the relevant account and feature.

Why an Apple Cash transaction can be declined or delayed
- You reached the relevant cap: Check the limit for the specific action and its stated time window. A payment cap, add-money cap, and transfer-out cap are different.
- Your card or bank details are not eligible or accurate: Instant Transfer needs an eligible U.S.-issued debit card; a bank transfer needs correct U.S. bank-account details. Issuers may also enforce their own limits on card funding.
- Apple requests identity verification: Apple may ask you to verify your identity to use Apple Cash fully. Follow the request shown in Wallet or Apple’s support flow.
- A security or terms review applies: Apple may lower limits or delay or block transactions for security or other reasons described in its terms. Published limits do not guarantee approval or the usual processing time.
- The expected arrival window has passed: For an Instant Transfer that has not arrived after two hours, or a bank transfer missing after three business days, contact an Apple Cash Specialist at Green Dot Bank.
Where Apple Cash is available and who provides it
Apple Cash is available only in the United States: the 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. Apple says Green Dot Bank provides the service and is Member FDIC. Apple Payments Services LLC is a service provider, and neither Apple nor Apple Payments Services LLC is a bank. These disclosures do not guarantee that a particular transaction will be approved or arrive at a particular time.
