Usually, you can’t use Google’s Play Store “Uninstall updates” option to roll back a Google Play system update. That option applies to the Google Play Store app. Android also has a separate “Remove updates” control for some system services, but Google does not describe it as a universal way to undo Google Play system updates. First identify which component changed.
Identify what you want to roll back
“Google Play update” can mean several different things. They have different settings and rollback options:

Menu wording and locations can vary by Android version and device maker. Google notes that update schedules vary by device, manufacturer, and carrier. Android Help.
Uninstall an update to the Google Play Store app
Use these steps if the Store app itself is malfunctioning or you specifically want to restore its factory version. Google presents uninstalling Store updates as a troubleshooting step.

- Find Google Play Store on your home screen or in the app list.
- Open its App info. Depending on your device, you may need to touch and hold the app icon and tap the information icon or App info.
- Tap More (usually the three-dot menu), then Uninstall updates, and confirm if prompted.
- To update the Store again, open Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then go to Settings > About. Under Play Store version, tap Update Play Store.
This changes the Play Store app, not Android’s Google Play system update or firmware.
Remove updates from a system service
Google documents a removal control for certain system services. It is not proof that every Google Play system update can be rolled back this way.

- Open your device’s Settings.
- Tap your profile, then go to All services > Privacy & security > System services.
- Under Up to date, select the service you want to change.
- Tap Remove updates and follow any confirmation prompts.
Use this only when you have identified the specific service involved. Google warns that turning off system services may affect device performance. The available labels and controls can vary by device.
If you mean a Google Play system update or Android firmware
Google’s general Android support instructions do not establish a universal way to uninstall a Google Play system update or return Android firmware to an earlier version. The update status screen can distinguish the Android version, security update, and Google Play system update, but the available recovery or downgrade options are device-specific. Check with your phone or tablet manufacturer, or your carrier, for instructions for your exact model. Google’s Android guidance also notes that update behavior and schedules vary across devices. Check & update your Android version.

Do not assume a factory reset will restore an earlier system update. Google mentions factory reset as a final troubleshooting step for persistent Play Store problems, not as a firmware downgrade.

If the issue is with downloading or using apps in the Store, troubleshoot the Store app rather than trying to undo an Android system update. Google’s guidance includes uninstalling Store updates and clearing the Store’s cache or data. Clearing Play Store data can reset Store settings such as parental controls and password protection, and you may need to accept the Terms of Service again. Keep Google Play services separate
Google Play services is not the Play Store app. Google says it is included with Android and cannot be force-stopped or uninstalled. Clearing its storage is a separate, more consequential troubleshooting action: it may remove saved information such as passwords or payment-related cards and require you to sign in again. Don’t clear Play services data as a routine way to roll back an update; follow Google’s instructions only if you are troubleshooting a problem that calls for it.
