No. Apple TV does not run Apple Intelligence, and you do not need an Apple Intelligence subscription to use Apple TV. The distinction is that Apple TV 4K can serve as a Home hub for certain Apple Intelligence features in the Home app. Those features have their own requirements, including an eligible iPhone belonging to the home’s owner and a 2 TB iCloud+ plan.
What Apple TV 4K does—and does not do
Apple does not list Apple TV as a device that runs Apple Intelligence. Instead, Apple TV 4K is one of several compatible Home hubs for specific Home app features, including descriptions of Home camera video and natural-language search of recordings. In that setup, the iPhone and Home app provide the Apple Intelligence-enabled experience; Apple TV 4K serves as the home hub.
This is separate from using Apple TV for streaming, apps, or other ordinary functions. The Home camera requirements below do not apply to Apple TV use in general. Apple TV hardware is also distinct from the Apple TV+ streaming subscription.
Requirements for the Home camera features
For the Home camera video descriptions and recording search described in Apple’s current support guide, Apple specifies all of the following:

- An Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone owned by the home’s owner. Apple’s guide identifies iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 or later models as eligible, running iOS 27 or later. Feature availability is also subject to language and region.
- Apple Intelligence enabled in the Home app.
- A 2 TB iCloud+ plan. Apple specifies this plan for the cited Home camera capabilities.
- A compatible Home hub with the latest system software. Apple names Apple TV 4K, HomePod (2nd generation), and HomePod mini.

Which Home hub can you use?

Apple lists all three options, but does not say one is best for every home. If you already have a compatible hub, you do not need to buy Apple TV 4K specifically for these Home features. Choose it if you also want Apple TV streaming hardware; the HomePod models are alternatives when you need a hub without that role.

Is there an Apple Intelligence subscription?
Apple’s stated requirement for these Home camera features is a qualifying iCloud+ plan, not an Apple Intelligence subscription. Apple separately says that some server-based Apple Intelligence features have usage limits and mentions possible paid expanded access; that is not a general subscription requirement for Apple TV. Apple’s June 2026 announcement describes its next generation of Apple Intelligence, while its September 2026 announcement discusses expanded Siri capabilities; neither changes the distinction between Apple TV as a Home hub and a device that runs Apple Intelligence.
Because supported devices, software, languages, regions, and plan requirements can change, check Apple’s support pages before setting up the feature or buying hardware.
