There is no single best graphics preset for every PC running Watch Dogs: Legion. Start with your GPU, chosen resolution, and whether you prioritize ray tracing or a higher frame rate; then use Ubisoft’s 2020 PC configurations as historical reference points and tune your own system. Treat those configurations as targets, not guarantees of performance on your current hardware.
Choose a resolution and performance goal first
Decide whether you want to play at 1080p, 1440p, or 4K, and whether visual detail or smoother performance matters more to you. Then identify your graphics card and whether you intend to use ray tracing (RT). These choices are linked: Ubisoft’s published RT configurations call for substantially stronger graphics hardware than its ray-tracing-disabled 1080p Low configuration.
Ubisoft’s PC requirements, published in 2020, provide the following reference points. They are publisher-stated configurations for the listed targets, not guarantees for a particular PC today or individualized upgrade advice. Ubisoft’s system requirements also state that the listed configurations use DirectX 12.

The table intentionally separates RT-disabled and RT-enabled examples. A card listed for one configuration should not be read as proof it will deliver a particular frame rate in another, and the 2020 figures are not a current buying recommendation.

Decide whether ray tracing is worth the tradeoff
Ray tracing is optional in Ubisoft’s PC target configurations. The publisher’s examples show the hardware difference between a 1080p Low target with RT disabled and higher-resolution RT targets, but they do not establish a universal frame-rate cost or tell every player which side of the tradeoff to choose.
If you already have an RT-capable system, compare RT levels against your own resolution and performance goal. NVIDIA describes the game’s ray-tracing detail as adjustable across three levels; available evidence does not support a single best level for all PCs. Use DLSS as an option to evaluate, not a guaranteed boost
NVIDIA says DLSS can enable higher-resolution, higher-detail graphics at higher frame rates, but the result depends on the hardware, selected mode, resolution, and game scene. Do not assume a specific uplift from enabling it on an unspecified GPU.
For the menu location, NVIDIA’s guidance says: “To enable DLSS, simply scroll down the list of settings in Options > Video > Quality, and select a DLSS mode.” Ubisoft’s configurations pair particular targets with DLSS Quality or Performance; those pairings are reference examples rather than a universal prescription.

Tune settings with a repeatable local comparison
Notebookcheck reports that the game includes an in-game benchmark. Use it to compare changes on your PC, then check representative gameplay as well: a benchmark gives you a repeatable comparison, not a promise that every mission or scene will perform identically. Notebookcheck’s review discusses the benchmark.
- Record your GPU, resolution, current graphics settings, and whether RT and DLSS are enabled.
- Run the in-game benchmark and note the result under those settings.
- Change one meaningful setting or mode, then run the benchmark again under the same conditions.
- Check actual play in scenes you care about; keep the change only if its visual effect and performance suit your goal.
Changing one setting at a time is a practical way to identify what caused a difference; it is a testing method, not a Ubisoft requirement.

Which detail settings should you adjust?
Geometry and its Extra Details control are identified as scalable options in PCGamesN’s settings guide, but the available evidence does not establish universal values for them. PCGamesN’s Watch Dogs: Legion settings guide is useful for locating these controls, not as proof that one value is best on every system.
Independent analysis from Hardware Unboxed covers individual graphics settings, RT, DLSS, CPU testing, and optimized settings, but the results available here do not provide exact values and test conditions sufficient to endorse a universal preset. Hardware Unboxed’s analysis is a further point of reference; treat any setting recommendation as dependent on its tested hardware and conditions.

- Lower or raise scalable detail controls based on the difference you can see and the benchmark results on your PC.
- Recheck performance after changing resolution, RT, or DLSS; their interaction can change the result of a detail adjustment.
- Avoid assuming that a named preset, including “High” or “Ultra,” means the same experience across different GPUs and resolutions.
A practical starting approach
Use the closest Ubisoft configuration as a rough starting reference, not a promise: choose its resolution and RT status that most resemble your goal, then adjust locally. If you want to prioritize performance, begin by disabling RT and compare the result at your chosen resolution; if you want RT, compare its available detail levels and DLSS modes rather than assuming the maximum setting is suitable. Use the benchmark and actual gameplay to decide whether each change is worth keeping.
