Applied Digital has brought 75 MW of operational capacity online at Polaris Forge 1, its data center campus in Ellendale, North Dakota. Data Center Dynamics reported on July 2, 2026, that Phase I of Building 2 reached ready-for-service status and was delivered to its customer on schedule. The milestone raised the campus’s reported live capacity to 175 MW; the full-build target is a separate 400 MW of contracted critical IT load.
What the 75 MW milestone means
The 75 MW refers to Phase I of Building 2—not the whole campus. According to Data Center Dynamics’ July 2, 2026 report, the phase achieved ready-for-service status and delivered operational capacity to its customer on schedule.
In data-center reporting, ready for service marks a delivery milestone: capacity is available to the customer. It does not by itself show how much of that capacity is being used or how much electricity it is consuming.
Live capacity versus full-build capacity
| Figure | What it describes | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| 75 MW | Operational capacity delivered in Phase I of Building 2 | Data Center Dynamics, July 2, 2026 |
| 175 MW | Reported live capacity across Polaris Forge 1 after the phase | Data Center Dynamics, July 2, 2026 |
| 400 MW | Contracted critical IT load the campus is expected to deliver at full build-out | Data Center Dynamics, July 2, 2026 |
These numbers describe different stages and measures. The 175 MW is the campus’s reported live capacity after the delivery; 400 MW is a full-build contractual figure, not capacity already online. The 75 MW phase is 18.75% of that 400 MW figure, but this comparison does not indicate utilization, power consumption, or construction progress beyond the reported milestone.

How the CoreWeave agreement developed
Applied Digital’s June 2, 2025 announcement described two approximately 15-year lease agreements with CoreWeave for 250 MW of critical IT load at Ellendale, with an option for CoreWeave to take a further 150 MW. The company said the campus was designed to host 400 MW of critical IT load in its lease announcement.
Data Center Dynamics’ July 2026 account later said CoreWeave had increased its agreement to take all Polaris Forge 1 capacity under an expanded $11 billion, 15-year agreement. That figure is DCD’s description of the expanded agreement; it is not reported revenue from this 75 MW phase. The 2025 announcement’s 150 MW option describes the earlier agreement, not the latest terms reported by DCD.

What the milestone does not tell us
The cited reports do not state how fully customers are using the delivered capacity, how much electricity the phase consumes, how much revenue Applied Digital has recognized from it, or which server and cooling systems were installed. They also do not establish the current status of later campus phases. A ready-for-service milestone should not be read as evidence of those operational or financial outcomes.
