Use a factory reset only as a last resort and follow the instructions for your exact Stick model; a reset can erase device data.
1. Force-restart the Fire TV Stick
If the Stick is powered on but the picture is frozen, press and hold Select and Play/Pause on the remote together for about five seconds. Amazon describes this as a force restart for a frozen Fire TV device. It is not a factory reset. Amazon’s frozen-screen and unresponsive-device guidance covers this restart option.
If the remote command does not work, unplug the Fire TV device from power, wait 60 seconds, and reconnect it. Amazon also advises unplugging the power cord for several seconds and reconnecting it as a general troubleshooting step. See Amazon’s Fire TV troubleshooting guidance.
2. Check the power cable and adapter
Use the cable and power adapter supplied with your Fire TV device if available. Amazon’s instruction is: “Use the power cable and adapter included with your Fire TV device.” A TV USB port or an unrelated adapter may not provide the power the Stick needs, so test with the supplied equipment before buying anything. Amazon recommends the supplied power equipment.

If you need replacement power equipment, check the connector and requirements for your specific Stick generation. Amazon’s low-power guidance identifies a 5W (5V, 1A or equivalent) adapter and a longer USB cable as options, and names a right-angle USB-C cable and Amazon 5W USB adapter. Those recommendations do not establish compatibility with every older Stick. Review Amazon’s low-power guidance and check setup details for the applicable model before choosing accessories.
3. Check the TV input and HDMI connection
Confirm the television is set to the HDMI input where the Stick is connected. Unplug and reconnect the Stick, try a different HDMI port, and bypass any hub or receiver by connecting the Stick directly to the TV when possible. A Fire TV Stick plugs into HDMI itself; it does not necessarily need a separate HDMI cable.

Amazon also recommends a high-speed HDMI cable where one is used and checking the TV manual for HDCP compliance. These checks can help isolate a display-path problem, but they are not a guaranteed fix for a logo freeze. See Amazon’s connection troubleshooting steps.
4. Leave it on and test the display path
Keep the device powered on and allow up to 25 minutes for the screen to change. Amazon’s frozen-screen guidance says: “Let the device sit for 25 min (turned on) or until the screen changes.” This is a troubleshooting wait, not proof that a stuck logo is necessarily an update. If the logo remains, test the Stick on another TV if one is available. You can also compare the connection with and without an HDMI adapter or extender. Changing one part of the display path at a time makes it easier to identify whether the TV, port, or intermediary is involved. Amazon’s setup guidance discusses HDMI accessories.

Amazon advises considering a factory reset if its frozen-screen troubleshooting steps do not work. A reset can erase device data, so first look up the procedure for your exact Fire TV Stick model or generation in Amazon’s reset and setup guidance. Do not use the Back-plus-Right-for-10-seconds sequence as a Stick reset: Amazon documents that sequence for Fire TV Smart TVs, not as a confirmed Fire TV Stick procedure. If the Stick still stays on the logo after the model-appropriate steps, contact Amazon support. Amazon’s general frozen-screen instructions do not promise one universal fix for every Fire TV Stick or establish a single cause for the symptom.
