Good Lock, Modes and Routines, S Pen Air actions, Audio Eraser, and Samsung DeX are the five Galaxy features Android Police writer Oluwaniyi Raji says rekindled his love for Android. His September 20, 2026 article draws on his experience with a Galaxy S24 Ultra—not a universal feature ranking or a promise that every Galaxy phone supports every function. Samsung-exclusive is the article’s framing; the available evidence does not establish that other Android phones lack comparable capabilities.
What these five features do
Raji’s examples show how Samsung’s software can add customization, automation, pen controls, audio editing, and desktop-style use. The details below reflect the experience described in his article; model, One UI version, app, and accessory compatibility can differ.
Good Lock: customize parts of One UI
Good Lock is a free Samsung app made up of modules for customizing the interface. Raji describes using RegiStar to reorganize Settings and assign an action to a back tap, One Hand Operation+ for edge gestures, and NotiStar to search notification history. These are examples from his use, not a guarantee that every module is available on every device or in every region. The module catalog and availability may change.
Modes and Routines: automate if/then actions
Modes and Routines lets users set a condition and associate one or more actions with it. Conditions in Raji’s examples include connecting to a Wi-Fi network or Bluetooth device, reaching a battery threshold, or arriving at a particular time. One routine he describes sets media volume when earbuds connect. The available conditions and actions depend on the phone and software version.

S Pen Air actions: use the pen as more than a stylus
Raji describes S Pen features including hover-related actions, handwriting-to-text, Screen off memo, and a floating Air command menu. Bluetooth is the crucial model distinction: his article says the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s S Pen supports remote Air actions, while the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s pen dropped Bluetooth Air actions. Do not assume those remote controls work with every Ultra phone or replacement pen; check the exact phone-and-pen combination.
Audio Eraser: adjust elements in recorded sound
Audio Eraser is described as separating sound into categories such as voices, music, noise, crowd, and nature, which users can then adjust. According to Raji’s article, it reached the S24 series with One UI 7, expanded to Voice Recorder and Samsung Notes with One UI 8, and became available during playback in certain streaming apps on the S26 series. Those are the article’s reported rollout details, not a complete official compatibility matrix. Confirm support for your model, software version, and app before relying on a particular use.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.
- Camera: 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro). Battery: 5000 mAh, non-removable | A power adapter is NOT included.
Samsung DeX: use a phone in a desktop-style setup
DeX can present a desktop-like environment on an external monitor, with resizable app windows and a taskbar. Raji describes connecting with a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter and using a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. His article also reports that One UI 8 and 8.5 added desktop changes including multiple desktops and saved window placement. Connection and feature support can depend on the phone, monitor, cable or adapter, and software version, so verify compatibility before buying accessories.
Why Galaxy model and software version matter
The five examples come from one writer’s Galaxy S24 Ultra experience. They should not be read as a checklist of features available across all Galaxy devices. Samsung’s official September 15, 2025 One UI 8 rollout announcement names eligible Galaxy families, illustrating that updates are distributed to specific models rather than establishing one uniform feature set. It provides rollout context, not a complete compatibility list for the capabilities described above.

Raji’s list is a personal account, not a controlled comparison with other Android phones, and it does not establish that Samsung has no competitors for these ideas. It also does not rank all Samsung features. His DeX enthusiasm is personal rather than a performance finding: he writes that he uses it so often that a five-window-per-desktop limit is the only thing stopping it from replacing his laptop. Treat that as his reported workflow, not a measured claim about how DeX will work for you.
