Where should you list your app? Start with the places your intended users already visit—not the longest directory list or the biggest authority score. Product Hunt is a launch community, G2 and Capterra are software review and buyer-discovery sites, AlternativeTo is for products that replace familiar tools, and BetaList is geared toward products in beta or early access.
The 35 candidates below cover those different jobs. The authority figures are third-party estimates, not scores published by the directories. Treat them as approximate, date-specific context—not a ranking of which site will bring the most customers.
How to choose the right app directories
Before submitting, assess each destination against the audience and purpose of your app. A listing can help with discovery, but presence alone does not establish demand, and a high authority estimate does not guarantee traffic, signups, or improved search rankings.

- Stage and category: Does the site accept launches, beta products, established software, AI tools, developer products, or another category that fits your app?
- Value beyond a backlink: Could the listing lead to relevant discovery, comparisons, reviews, feedback, or a useful company profile?
- Effort and terms: Check fees, review or curation requirements, submission rules, and any promotion options.
- Timing: Account for launch dates and possible approval delays; do not submit before your product page and assets are ready.
- Score provenance: If authority matters to your decision, record whether the number is DA or DR, who estimated it, and when.
Toolradar says its comparison considers authority, category-page traffic, audience composition, cost, curation, and submission return. TheSaaSDir cautions that a lower-score site with relevant users may be more useful than a higher-score site with little relevant audience. These are sensible comparison dimensions; neither score alone predicts results. Toolradar’s directory comparison and TheSaaSDir’s directory guide provide their respective publisher perspectives.

35 app directories and discovery destinations, grouped by fit
This is a mixed list: it includes launch communities, review marketplaces, company profiles, alternative-finder sites, and specialist catalogs. Not every destination is a conventional directory, and none is a universal fit. The figures below are rough estimates reported by two 2026 roundups; they should not be read as a single, consistently measured ranking.
Score key: StartupSubmit’s figures are approximate DA/DR values, updated July 2026; its roundup does not consistently distinguish the metric in its labels. TheSaaSDir reports estimated Ahrefs DR values from early 2026. DA and DR are different third-party metrics, and estimates can vary by provider and date. “Not stated” means the cited 2026 sources used here do not establish a comparable score.

The name and score estimates above are drawn from StartupSubmit’s 2026 directory roundup, TheSaaSDir’s directory guide, and StartKitz’s 2026 app-listing guide. StartupSubmit describes its estimates as approximate and updated in July 2026; TheSaaSDir reports Ahrefs DR estimates from early 2026. The different figures for the same site may reflect different metrics, providers, methods, or observation dates. They do not establish a definitive order of directory quality.
What DA and DR scores mean—and what they do not
Domain Authority (DA) and Domain Rating (DR) are separate third-party metrics. Directory publishers do not issue these scores as official ratings of their own sites. Some roundups use “DA/DR” loosely, while others identify an Ahrefs DR estimate. Do not compare the two as if they were the same measurement; a number without its metric, estimator, and date is incomplete.
For example, StartupSubmit reports Product Hunt at about 91 DA/DR in its July 2026 update, while TheSaaSDir reports about 90 DR in an early-2026 Ahrefs estimate. The roundups also report G2 at about 89 DA/DR and about 91 DR, respectively. Those small differences are not proof of a change in the sites’ usefulness. Use scores only as rough context alongside audience fit, category traffic, curation, and cost.
The reviewed directory comparisons do not establish an independently verified causal estimate for a fixed SEO lift, traffic volume, or number of signups from submissions. Treat discovery and referral traffic as possibilities, not promises. If you want to evaluate return, tag or otherwise identify referral visits in your analytics and compare qualified visits or signups over a suitable period.

A practical submission workflow
1. Prepare a complete, accurate listing
Have the product name and URL, concise tagline and description, logo, screenshots, category, and support or contact details ready. Tailor the wording to each site’s audience and rules rather than pasting the same generic pitch everywhere. Accurate positioning matters especially on alternatives and specialist catalogs: explain what the app does and who it is for.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2. Prioritize a focused set
Choose a handful based on launch timing, user fit, and the type of discovery you need. A launch community may suit a product ready for public feedback; a review marketplace makes more sense for software buyers; an alternative finder needs a clear comparison with established tools. Use AI, no-code, or developer catalogs only when the product truly belongs in that category.
Best Value
3. Check each destination’s current requirements
Confirm submission eligibility, review or curation steps, costs, timing, and whether the site offers a meaningful listing for your kind of product. Directory rules and opportunities can change, so verify details directly before preparing a submission. StartKitz recommends spreading a broad submission list across a 30-day calendar; treat that as practical editorial advice, not a proven search-engine rule.
4. Handle a Product Hunt launch as a community event
Product Hunt’s official Launch Guide describes makers submitting products and community members upvoting, commenting, and sharing. The guide says the platform is free to use and advises launching when prepared. It does not guarantee reach or a successful launch, so have a clear product page and a useful way to respond to feedback rather than treating submission as a traffic entitlement.
5. Measure relevant outcomes
Track referral visits and meaningful actions such as qualified signups, demo requests, or customer inquiries. Record the destination and submission date so you can judge which placements reached the right people. A backlink or a high third-party score by itself is not evidence that a listing produced business value.
Which directories should you submit to first?
- Broad public launch: Consider Product Hunt if the product is ready for a visible launch and community interaction.
- B2B buyer discovery: Evaluate G2, Capterra, GetApp, or Software Advice when your product serves the buyers those review and comparison sites address and you can support credible reviews.
- Established-product alternatives: Consider AlternativeTo or SaaSHub if users can understand your product in relation to tools they already know.
- Beta or early access: BetaList is the clearest fit in this list for products at that stage.
- Technical, AI, or no-code products: Choose relevant specialist catalogs or communities—such as Show HN, Dev Hunt, AI catalogs, or no-code catalogs—only when the product belongs there.
- Company, founder, or regional visibility: Consider Crunchbase, F6S, Wellfound, or EU-Startups when the company-profile, founder-network, hiring, or regional context is useful.
The right shortlist is the one that matches your product and intended users. Submitting to all 35 is not a strategy, and no authority estimate can substitute for checking audience fit and measuring the response.
