You can connect a Meta Quest 3 to a PC with a wired Meta Horizon Link connection, wireless Meta Air Link, or wireless Steam Link for games in your Steam library. Wired Link uses a USB-C data cable; Air Link and Steam Link use Wi-Fi. Check your PC and network against the requirements for the method you plan to use.
Compare the three connection methods
| Method | Connection | Use it for | Key requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meta Horizon Link | USB-C data cable | Connecting the headset to a compatible Windows PC | A data-capable cable; Meta specifies 5 GB/s or higher for its hardware setup context |
| Meta Air Link | Wi-Fi | Wireless Meta Link | The PC and headset on the same network |
| Steam Link | Wi-Fi | Streaming games from your Steam library | Steam lists a Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E router |
Before you connect
Check that your PC meets the requirements for the connection method and software you plan to use. Meta’s developer setup material specifies Windows 10 or newer, 64-bit, and a compatible graphics card for Meta Horizon Link streaming. Steam Link has its own PC requirements; the Meta Store listing specifies Windows 10 or newer and lists NVIDIA GTX 970 or better as its minimum GPU. Check current compatibility before relying on older store specifications.
1. Connect with wired Meta Horizon Link
Use a USB-C data cable, not a charge-only cable. Meta’s hardware setup guide specifies a cable supporting 5 GB/s or higher for its Link setup context and recommends the Meta Horizon Link Cable. Consider cable length and the ports available on your PC when choosing a cable.
Steps
- Install Meta Horizon Link on a compatible Windows PC.
- Connect the Quest 3 to the PC with a USB-C data cable.
- Put on the headset and follow the Link prompt, or use the current Link option in Quest settings to launch Link.
- Open compatible PC VR software from your PC.
Menu names and paths can vary between software versions. Follow the prompts shown by your headset and PC.

Steps
- Install and open Meta Horizon Link on the PC.
- Connect the PC and Quest 3 to the same local network.
- Open the current Link or Air Link option in Quest settings and follow the on-screen prompts to connect to the PC.
